  1. Here's a Huff Post article about it. Says the bus driver was a 22 year vet of The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/12/bus-uppercut-punch-cleveland-driver-teen-girl-video-_n_1961527.html
  2. Yes, if it went to court, I bet he could argue that she hit him, while he was operating a public transport. That has to count for something? She could have put their lives in serious harm's way...
  3. I was quite surprised by this video. Bravo, Kid Rock and Sean Penn! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSQJ2ULuhb8&feature=player_embedded
  4. What is going on at the dealerships these days? http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/camaro-owner-records-mechanics-abusing-car-scheming-damages-152707580.html Basically, Camaro owner drops off car with hidden recorder, records dealership doing burnouts in his car and frying his clutch, then tries to charge him for the clutch... Wowsers. I am glad there are independent shops out there, like Shop Dog Cycles!
  5. Have any of you seen this story yet? http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/10/chevy-dealer-errs-in-sale-price-has-customer-danny-sawyer-arrested-for-theft/ Basically, a man buys a car, dealership realizes they sold it for too little, has man arrested for theft when he refuses to sign new contract. Now he has filed a $2.2 million lawsuit!
  6. I currently have a Motorola Photon. I upgraded from a Palm Pre. I see quotes of batteries heating up. The Palm Pre was a WebOS operating system, and the battery would get extremely hot, to where I couldn't physically handle it. They tried to address the issue through software updates, but there were times when the phone would heat up badly. Normally, for me, this was when it was under heavy load, such as tethering. As for my Motorola Photon, I have no issues with the battery heat. Absolutely no problems with the phone, and I have had it for about a year now. Battery life is great, it can last about 2 days idle, and 1 day of moderate use. Depends on which radios are enabled at the same time (Bluetooth, 4g, Wifi, etc). I have the phone rooted, and I tether the crap out of it when I am on the move with the military. It comes in handy quite a bit. My wife has an iPhone 4s, and I love how slick the GUI is on it. It feels very quick and fluid. However, I can't stand the screen size. The retina is nice and all, but I hate having to squint or whatever just to see what I am looking at clearly. And the no Flash support is a real PITA. Her battery life is about on par with my Motorola Photon. I have noticed with her phone that she has an easier time with it. She had an HTC EVO, and while she liked it a lot, she likes the iPhone 4s even more. We haven't looked at the iPhone 5, and I don't think we will till she is eligible for an upgrade. She does miss the customizability of her HTC, though. She could change the launcher theme whenever she wanted, but can't do that with the iPhone, as far as she is aware.
  7. "The sun does not have no prisoners" is all I could make out. And the "OH SHIT" part, too.
  8. Did a quick search, didn't see this posted, so I apologize if this is a repost. Here's the video. Guy seemed at alright at the end, so I guess my laughing at his misfortune is okay? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7g7uyFQF6I
  9. Could the opposite be true, as well? If the police officer has a dash cam recording you, can you tell him/her that you don't consent to surveillance?
  10. Black and white answer? Natural Born US Citizen, have lived in the US for at least 14 years, and be at least 35 years old.
  11. My honest question is, does it matter? Lets say Romney won the debate. Will this cause Democratic voters and/or Obama fans to vote for Romney now? Honest question, I am not big into politics. I guess I just don't grasp what the debates are for other than finger pointing and arguing...
  12. Yes, the 19th SF group out of Rickenbacker. Good group of guys, I know a few. The way they work is they have these "open tryouts" where you coordinate with them, do some drills and what not, and they do their own selection type event. If you pass their selection, they will then send you to the "real" selection with the Active Duty. Also, inquire about getting the GI Bill while doing the police academy, I know it does pay out a little while you attend.
  13. Yup, plant shut down. As it was designed to do. Glad everything worked out alright!
  14. Well, if you are hell bent on it, go for broke! Make sure they have Air Assault and Airborne in your contract, as well. Heck, go for Ranger school, too. I hear that one kicks a lot of butt. I have a buddy who failed sniper school, he said that was pretty awesome. FYI, he failed on the part where you have to shoot targets while in a field without being spotted. Apparently, that's where most people wash out.
  15. I wonder, is it the same course that is taught by the MSF for $200+? The $25 price tag is awesome.
  16. Wife and I managed to walk into the course tonight, along with 3 other gentlemen. We may be getting some new members on the site, I dropped the name! Another guy was looking at buying an old Honda Rebel, and asked if I knew any good motorcycle mechanics. You bet I dropped Shop Dog Cycles' name!
  17. Meh, I just don't think locating, closing with, and destroying the enemy by means of fire and maneuver and close contact looks good on a civilian resume. But I am not HR, so I suppose I wouldn't know for sure. If a full, 20 year Active Duty career is what you are after, or law enforcement, then Fazer1sniper's advice is pretty good. If not, there may be more lucrative MOSs out there that will help in the civilian world.
  18. You WANT to be Infantry? That's what 11 Bravo is... Each to their own, I guess. I would have picked something with real world applications, like Signal Corps or something. AND I am surprised there were no 11 Bravo slots, I figured they would have plenty of "ground pounder" positions available.
  19. Last night, I dreamt that I was a muffler, and I woke up exhausted!
  20. No sir, can you please elaborate? Not even sure what the "beltway" even is...
  21. Are you talking about Sprint? I have had Sprint for 10 years now, no issues that weren't caused by me in those 10 years. I have heard many complaints about the bad signal and whatnot from Sprint, but it doesn't bother me. If there is no Sprint tower nearby, I get to leach off Verizon or whoever for free (I get free data roaming and whatnot with Sprint). In conclusion: I am a Sprint fanboy, who tethers all the time, for no extra charge!
  22. Have fun with the Duck Walk! MEPS isn't that bad, unless you don't sleep well the night before, then you'll just be cranky and easily annoyed. My advice for Basic: On the Gas Chamber day, shave well and drink milk! Have fun in Fort Leonard Wood (AKA Lost in the Woods)!
  23. Unfortunately, it looks like job security for us DoD employees...
  24. My USAA rates have stayed the same.
