Is the damper a must-have? I'd just ditch it, if it were me.

I haven't ridden the bike so I don't know how it's going to react. I figure it can't hurt on the track. That's why I'm thinking of using it on the track only with a number plate and taking it off for the street.

I did...my machine class just ended. So now I'm back to hand tools.

I have a couple ideas floating around in my head though.

I have a couple of lathes and a couple of mills in my shop. I can make ya simple stuff at no charge. Just PM me with what ya need.

Thanks! I really appreciate that.

I have to see what mounting options I have on the frame if I can get out to the garage tonight.

I finished fitting the early K-series Gsxr fender to the older forks. I had to make a couple brackets for the front as the forks have a single 8mm mounting bolt and the fender has two 6mm mounting bolts. The rear of the fender holes are just about perfect except the fork isn't threaded at the attachment point so I used a couple rivet nuts to fix the problem. I know my brackets are very pretty but they'll be hidden so strength was more important to me than cosmetics.

Since I had the front end mostly assembled I zip-tied the complete fairing assembly on to get a feel for the final positioning. I'm only using the handlebars for mock-up so everything is loosely fitted.

Next step is figuring out how to mount the fairing bracket on the Gsxr triples.

Between yesterday and today I was able to mount up my new black superbike handlebars along with drilling holes for the switch gear. I'm waiting on a 2nd gen SV650 clutch perch to permanently glue on the left grip.

When I tried to install the upper triple my gauge bracket hit before the triple was completely seated. I had a feeling that it could happen when I made it. So instead of 4 bolts holding it on, I had to cut the left mount in half and touched up the cut with some model paint. Three bolts should be plenty as the newer dash is much lighter than the original is.

I also started prepping and mounting the fairing bracket. I cut off the original mounts as they definitely will not work with the Gsxr triples. I decided to use the pinch bolts so as to not modify my already powder coated triples.

I should have the entire front end finished within a week or two, except for painting the fender and fairing and installing a new front tire.

It was such a nice day, that I had to pull the bike out of the garage to see how it looks from a distance.

I threw on the solo tail as I don't think that I'm going to meet my self set deadline if I hack off the subframe at this time.

I made a to-do list and I'm slowly working through it.

Other than maybe modding the stock Zrx turn signal mounts, the front fairing stay is done. I fabbed and added a small bracket to hold the headlight relays and another bracket to relocate the horn from underneath the Gsxr triple to behind the fairing.

I sold my stock rear inner fender halves thinking that I would not need them again since I wanted to chop the subframe....well, I was wrong. Since I'm keeping the stock subframe for this riding season, I needed something. I made a crude cardboard template and transferred it to a sheet of 1/8" thick aluminum and keep going from there.

I was able to cross off a few of my goals but I still have about 20 left.

I've been working on a couple bikes on the side so I haven't done much to the Gsxr. But the side jobs have provided me with a little money. So to celebrate I had my front turn signal buckets and fairing stay powder coated black. These should almost button up the front end except for painting the fender brackets, bleeding the brakes, swapping in newer controls, routing wiring, and painting the fender and fairing.

Hopefully, I get the extra bike finished and return my priorities back to the Gsxr soon.

Oh, I also have a4-2-1 header (made by Hindle, I think) and some D&D mufflers on the way. I don't really want to damage my nice SS Supertrapp exhaust if something happens.

I was able to relocate the ignition switch last night. I had to move it since I cut the loop and lugs off the upper triple so I could tuck the gauges in closer. I still need to paint it with black Rustoleum but at least it's fabbed.

I have no progress to report as I've been battling Joel's (NeverEnough) car's starter off and on for the last week and a half. I swear if I see the so called "engineer" that designed the car I'm gonna punch them in the throat.

I did however get word that my 4-2-1 exhaust header is on its way from Canada along with a spare oil cooler and lines to replace the mid-pipe the seller couldn't find.

As soon as Joel's car is out of the drive, I'm back to the Gsxr.

My header and oil cooler showed up yesterday. There is no markings on the header that I can see but I believe it's from Hindle.

I was set on a DanMoto GP can, then I picked up a D&D can, and now I kinda want to go with a reverse megaphone muffler from Cone Engineering. Thoughts?

Anything but D&D! I think the megaphone would be cool. What do you mean by reverse?

I was only going to run a D&D can because I picked a pair cheap and my Gsxr will be on the track so in case anything happens I won't be out a lot of $$.

The muffler standing up on the left in the pic is the reverse megaphone muffler I'm possibly looking at.

Went on a small but expensive shopping spree yesterday and picked up a set of tires and chain.

With a self-made deadline of June 17th (my next opportunity for a trackday with MotoSeries at Nelson Ledges) I think I'm going to bodge together an exhaust. I hate to do it but time and money are in limited quantities for me now.

I still need to do several days worth of work and I'll be on vacation away from home for two weeks soon.

So little time, so little money, and so much to do.
