2talltim
Long story short me and my wife are going on a cruise next week and my mother inlaw got very ill yesterday and if we still go my wife want to be able to keep tabs on her mom. Thre is cell service onboad and abroad but the rates are $3 to $4 a min so I'm thinking about a international SIM card to help the cost. But I know NOTHING about them, how much, are they worth the hassle, where can I get one in the next 2 days, all info would be apreciated. MidgetTodd
Why Your cruise will be like the others, stranded at sea, no power, no water, over flowing toilets ect. The phone will be dead because you cant charge it so the sim card no matter

JStump
Most carriers offer an international data package of like 250 minutes for $50-60 a month and you just use your regular sim. Unless you have an old verizon phone, most phones have sims now even verizon.Edit: My bad, I am thinking 250MB not minutes, just checked verizon and they have cruise ship rates of $2.50 a minute. Will you have wifi on the ship? If so, facetime or Skype. Edited February 15, 2013 by JStump

JStump
I think your best bet then is to look into internet on the ship and if nothing else, the cruise ship rates with verizon are a bit cheaper.
