  1. Hi all, my name is Bret. I have lived in Columbus for a few years now, but don't have any real friends in the area who are fellow enthusiasts. I have been into cars since I was little and I just love all things high performance. I have two cars currently. My daily driver is a 2004 VW Jetta GLI 1.8T which I love! Its almost completely stock, and I am trying hard to keep it that way. I am also finishing up a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD which has turned into a couple year project. It should finally see the road in the next few weeks, which will be the first time since like 1998 or something crazy like that! I bought the car two years ago from a guy who had it sitting in his garage all tore apart since like 1999. The motor is now completely built and I'm just trying to wrap up some details so I can finally drive it. I'm just running a small 16G for now, but have plans to do some upgrading over this coming winter. I would really like to get involved with the group, as I tend to be shy and have a hard time making new friends. I have lots of friends back where I grew up around Akron-Canton, but would like to have some pals in Columbus. I look forward to meeting many of you and having a kick ass summer. Here is a picture of my Jetta http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5/bchumley/Jetta.jpg and... here is a picture of my Talon as it looked when I bought it. I have since gotten it back to solid red, and its looking ALOT better! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5/bchumley/DSCN2730.jpg also, not sure if there are any Nissan guys on here, but its possible I may have met you a few years back. This 240SX was my pride and joy for many years, but have since sold it. Sorry, maybe its lame to post a picture of my old car, but I still love it and miss it! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5/bchumley/1016.jpg

  2. Lol what? My cousin was going to school in Germany and EVERYONE carries their school id and people do get ID'd - I saw it happen. Same thing in Dublin. And I didn't know we were having a discussion about how and where beer is made. I did have a Guiness in Dublin about a week ago and it is much better than any Guiness I've ever had here. But that wasn't the point of my post. Go drink some more beers at your grandparents' pub and make some more mustangs cry big man

  3. Some of you may know already from Facebook but a fellow rider took his last corner Weds evening. Freak accident on an on ramp took him from us. The Rawlins brothers have a memorial erected for him at the site and John has asked that we get a group together to ride the precession from the service to the grave site as the Junkies did for their fallen and we did for Shawn's dad. I realize that many of you here did not know Garrett since he is not a member but he is friends with some of us members and is a fellow rider and hopefully that is good enough for you to attend. Those that did not know him are not expected to go in for the service but it would be great if you would show to escort his final ride to his resting place. It will be on Weds the 11th at noon if you can attend please do. If you need further info feel free to ask in this thread or PM either Me, Carwhore or Rawlins87. please also post up if you will be attending. Here is a link to more info and thank you. http://www.schoedinger.com/obituaries/Garrett-Weidner/ As an added benefit I will lead a ride thru the twisties afterwards if wanted as thanks for your attending.

  4. just got a 1994 integra 4 door. B18B1 engine with a manual trans. Nothing done so far except for exhaust and intake. got the car for 500 bucks so i cant really complain, looking for a B18A1 block and set it up for boost from there. Then i can actually get this thing fast. other than that just using it for gas mileage right now. Paint is blue and black. usually up at sawmill on fridays and saturdays not sure how many columbus racing people go there but i know a couple that do. green scirocco and black 94 camaro. Anyone got any suggestions on using boost on a B18? i only know about 2 people who know honda pretty well and they both said H23 block with H22 head. paint came with the car, not the best and needs redone BAD!! http://s1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/?action=view&current=downsized_0410111840.jpg http://s1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/?action=view&current=downsized_0410111840.jpg#!oZZ5QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1214.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fcc498%2Ftgoddard92%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Ddownsized_0412111752.jpg http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/downsized_0412111905.jpg?t=1304724343 http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/downsized_0413110104.jpg?t=1304724343 http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/downsized_0413111224.jpg?t=1304724343 http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc498/tgoddard92/downsized_0501111752.jpg?t=1304724343

  7. OP has about as much etiquette and discretion as a bull in a china shop based on the majority of his posts. Fits his age IMO. Comment is not meant as an attack just an observation of the age group. I was like that once but age is good for some things.

  11. Kasich said he is not cutting state funding, yet the "equipment" tax that business pay was 70% given to local schools BUT is now 100% to the state. So schools are loosing money anywhere from 6%-30% aid. At Marysville this is a $1.6 million dollar loose next year and $1.3 million each year after. 80% of Columbus City children get free lunches because their parents can't afford food. How are they supposed to pay to send their kids to get educated? If those kids are not educated they will 100% end up like their parents living off the system. In South-Western schools, 50percent of kindergartners from poor families began the year with serious literacy deficits. Only 15percent of their peers who don't live in poverty did. The disparity shows up in wealthier suburban districts, too. In Dublin schools, 42.5 percent of economically disadvantaged students came to school without the basics. Only 9percent of their peers did. Sunday Dispatch Imagine not teaching your own children ABC's or 123's before they went to kindergarten. Not teaching them how to write there name, never reading a book to them. That is what poverty parents statistically do! "When we don’t get the results we want in our military endeavors, we don’t blame the soldiers. We don’t say, “It’s these lazy soldiers and their bloated benefits plans! That’s why we haven’t done better in Afghanistan!" No, if the results aren’t there, we blame the planners. We blame the generals, the secretary of defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff. No one contemplates blaming the men and women fighting every day in the trenches for little pay and scant recognition. And yet in education we do just that. When we don’t like the way our students score on international standardized tests, we blame the teachers. " NYTimes I am a teacher, a great teacher. I have received a 0.8% raise in the past 4 years. In the town I work, the average person's salary raise was 4.6% over the past 4 years. I have a Bachelors and Masters degree yet I make 14% less then someone in the private sector. People are so quick to blame the teacher for the short comings of students, high taxes, and anger. We work hard and get paid very low. I DO NOT work 6 hours a day, I put in 8-10 hours. Teaching is hard no matter what anyone says. Nationwide, 46 percent of teachers quit before their fifth year. -NYTimes I agree the moneys can be spent better in terms of buildings and such, but a lot of those projects are financed from the state and federal government for improvements. Property taxes can be lowered, higher pay for teachers, more aid to help those in need. " “How do we pay for this?” — well, how are we paying for three concurrent wars? How did we pay for the interstate highway system? Or the bailout of the savings and loans in 1989 and that of the investment banks in 2008? How did we pay for the equally ambitious project of sending Americans to the moon? We had the vision and we had the will and we found a way. " NYTimes

  15. sure you would. and if on some slim chance you actually didnt, well, thats fine... but you just ostracized yourself. any bill you bring up dies in committee. and when its time for re-election, they pay for someone else's election campaign and you get voted out.

  17. This made me laugh and then I see that it's well documented common knowledge. The average person votes to their best interests which means democrats get to hold office because for the most part they take from the producers and give to the idiots who vote them into power. Most C.E.O.s are republicans and when democrats hold office they create a bureaucracy that is an unfriendly business environment. C.E.O.s are not stupid and if they are concerned about their business and their bottom line, (Remember successful businesses need to balance their budgets not like the government.) they seek a climate that is more business friendly. If the politicians wouldn't make socialist laws that forced business out of the country most businesses would prefer to stay here. It’s a direct result of bad laws that force business out of an unfriendly business climate not the other way around.

  18. thanks! yeah I really love the color on my Jetta. Its called Platinum Gray I believe. and the paint on the Talon, that really was not my style! the car is originally red, and he had the front end yellow which he faded into the red on the doors. anyways, all back to red now with some gunmetal gray 17x9's that I'm trying to make fit!

  19. The company is MotoCzysz. The bike you're talking about is the C1, but they seem to have abandoned it after 2008. They're doing crazy things in the electric race bike world now, instead.

  31. here are some things to think about... #1 CNN is reporting that the clearest death picture of Osama Bin Laden "is so gruesome and mangled" that authorities believe it is not appropriate for the public. But the truth is that Hollywood movies show much worse every single day. What possible justification could there possibly be for not showing us all the video and all the pictures that they say that they have? #2 The U.S. government claims that it buried Osama Bin Laden at sea because it wanted to observe "Islamic law". Well, it turns out that Islamic law actually requires burial in the ground if at all possible. So why was there such a rush to dump Osama Bin Laden into the ocean? #3 The combined debt of the major GSEs (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Sallie Mae) has increased from 3.2 trillion in 2008 to 6.4 trillion in 2011. How in the world is the U.S. government going to be able to afford to guarantee all of that debt on top of everything else? #4 The U.S. government has been well over 14 trillion dollars in debt for quite a bit of time now. Considering the fact that the U.S. budget deficit is projected to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 trillion dollars this year, how in the world is it possible that the debt ceiling of 14.29 trillion dollars will not be reached until August 2 of this year as U.S. Treasury Timothy Geithner is now claiming? #5 Why did silver suddenly start dropping like a rock just when it was about to hit 50 dollars an ounce? #6 Why is the Federal Reserve giving member banks an interest rate that is eight times higher than the market rate on deposits that member banks leave with the Federal Reserve? #7 Why has Barney Frank introduced legislation that would remove the presidents of the regional Federal Reserve banks from the Federal Open Market Committee? #8 If Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa is saying that the economic outlook for Japan is "very severe", then why is almost everyone in the western media continuing to tell us that the Japanese economy is going to be just fine? #9 Should we be concerned when the mainstream media tells us that there could be shortages of new cars and car parts this summer? #10 Should we be concerned that the amount of corn that has been planted so far this year is way, way behind the amount of corn that had been planted last year at this time? #11 Why have the financial markets been forced to cancel dozens of "erroneous trades" lately? How are we supposed to have faith in the financial markets when we see this kind of nonsense going on? #12 Why is the percentage of millionaires in Congress more than 50 times higher than the percentage of millionaires in the general population? #13 Why is one public school in Chicago banning kids from bringing lunches to school and forcing them to eat whatever the school cafeteria serves? #14 Should we be alarmed that three Christians were recently arrested for reading the Bible in public outside of a DMV in California? #15 According to Gallup, 41 percent of Americans believed that the economy was "getting better" at this time last year. Today, that number is at just 27 percent. Are Americans losing faith in the U.S. economy? #16 Why is the mainstream media talking so little about the crisis at Fukushima when massive amounts of radiation are still being released from the site on a daily basis? #17 Why is Social Security phasing out paper checks and beginning to require everyone to receive their benefits by direct deposit? #18 Why is the FDA using our tax dollars to take an Amish farmer to federal court over the sale of raw milk? #19 Is the U.S. housing crisis getting even worse? During the first three months of this year, less new homes were sold in the U.S. than in any three month period ever recorded, and the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index has fallen for seven months in a row. #20 Is it any wonder that most of our young adults cannot write decently when 50% of all U.S. college students have never taken a class during which they had to write more than 20 pages? #21 Why does the U.S. continue to allow China to pump massive quantities of their products into our economy when they continue to deny their own citizens even the most basic of human rights? #22 According to the IMF, China will pass the United States and will become the largest economy in the world in 2016. So when are average Americans going to start getting upset about the millions of jobs that we are losing to nations such as China due to outsourcing and offshoring? #23 Why are so many of our once great manufacturing cities being transformed into hellholes? In the city of Detroit today, there are over 33,000 abandoned houses, 70 schools are being permanently closed down, the mayor wants to bulldoze one-fourth of the city and you can literally buy a house for one dollar in the worst areas. #24 Why are we seeing so many restaurant brawls and so many random acts of violence lately? #25 Shouldn't we be concerned that the area along our border with Mexico is now one of the most dangerous places on earth? #26 What does it say about America when the murder rate in Flint, Michigan is worse than the murder rate in Baghdad? #27 What does it say about America when a poll finds that 70 percent of Americans believe that the country is going in the wrong direction? #28 Is a major global food crisis coming? The World Bank says that 44 million people around the world have already been pushed into extreme poverty since last June because of rising food prices. So what is going to happen if we have another year of global crop failures? #29 Why are sales of "doomsday bunkers" suddenly soaring? #30 Why has the U.S. government created 257 "foreign trade zones" inside the United States? #31 Why did riot police in Illinois use tear gas, LRAD sound weapons and crowd suppression tactics against a bunch of college students that were just blowing off some steam at a year-end block party at Western Illinois University? Are brutal "G20 crowd control tactics" going to be used in every small town in America now?
