  1. So on one hand we're being "greased up before the screw job", and on the other hand we're "way better than anywhere else". Which is it? Maybe something like this is more your speed, once they get it off the ground, of course. Or maybe sunny Puntland, you can carve out a good chunk of land right off the Horn of Africa, you can even implement your solutions to curtail illegal immigration by keeping out the locals! Electrified fence, a moat with sharks (lasers optional, wouldn't want to add to the deficit!), anything you want! You want to be truly patriotic? Pick up a book and read about Locke's social contract, about Lincoln's policies following the Civil War, Teddy Roosevelt's policies towards corporations, and Eisenhower's policies on infrastructure development and it's effect on the nation as a whole, and his policies on continuing military spending. Understand all this is where your party once was, a party of conservation, both financial and ecological, about responsibility, both personal and corporate, and about coming to the table and intelligently exchanging ideas with people who may not share the same viewpoints as you, in hopes that in the exchange you both will understand each other a little better and a compromise will be that much easier. It doesn't take that much to bring that back, all it takes is for you to put down the cable news, open a book, and do a little reading. That's being patriotic. Waving a American flag while listening to cable news pundits doesn't make you a patriot, it makes you an spoonfed, uninformed idiot.

  2. OK, let me say right away that this dog will do best with a lesbian couple or a man without a super deep voice or very large stature.... *sigh*. UPDATE (12/4/12): She's been doing pretty well around a few different larger men. She spent the first 18 months of her life in a pound and was probably never properly socialized. She is OK with women and is just completely and totally scared of men in general. When it is just me, she plays, eats, and tries to be the biggest lap dog ever. When Howard is even in the next room, she fixates and stares. I left on a trip for just under 2 weeks and she barely ate the whole time and lost probably 10 lbs. We got her from a friend whose parents got her from someone else, who got her from craigslist or something, and basically, she has jumped from home to home. They were going to take her back to the pound, so we decided to hang on to her to try to socialize her and put some weight on her because she was very small ~60lbs, and she should really probably be around 90lbs. During this time, we have been looking for a home for her with someone she can feel comfortable with. She has been great with me, learning new tricks like roll over and dance, but like I said, she is terrified of Howard and her quality of life isn't as good as it could be. I would keep her as my dog if I could, but I travel far too much for work/school, and I don't want her to be so miserable while I'm gone. She has all of her shots. She has an anxiety coat, leash, toys, collar, etc. and has a chip. If anyone knows someone that is looking for a dog, please let them know about Cora. She is a lab/doberman mix ~2.5 years old. We're trying to find her a home that she will enjoy so that she doesn't end up in the pound again.

  6. For two things. 1. To those that came out to the dyno day. We had 18 cars hit the rollers. One of the best turn outs for a CR dyno day. And here it was on a Sunday.. 2. To those who continue to support and believe in what I am doing as a tuner for your Ford and GM needs.. If it was not for you I would not still be here. There are alot of dyno and tuning options in Columbus. I am very grateful for those who continue to use me for a tuning solution. I will still give it my 100% to keep earning your business. And more importantly... Your friendship.

  9. DONE! It came out perfectly. Rev.Dice at Sweet Baby Octane added his artistry to the concept and I liked what he did so we went ahead with his improved version of my original concept. The pain was much less than I expected. The only sucky bit was when he was shading over the bit of the scapula that forms the hard bump you feel on the top of your shoulder on top of your arm. Also, the outside of the arm was fine but the leaves that wrapped around the front and back of my arm were more painful. I was able to continue a light conversation throughout it all so it really wasn't bad at all (the conversation really DOES help take your mind off the pain). Some areas felt like burning, some felt like the needle stick you get when you get a local anesthetic in your skin. Afterwards it felt like a bad sunburn. Been 2 hours now and the sunburn feeling has gone.

  10. Wait, so are we supposed to have regulations on stuff and a checks and balances type system, or an unmitigated free market economy? I love the post office example, especially when people don't understand it.

  11. question... as a country, does it make sense for us to drill now while oil is <$100 a barrel? or wait, sit on our reserves and drill/sell when it hits >$1000 a barrel? or $10,000 a barrel? What advantage do we have by drilling/selling it now?

  15. 'Grats! Nice having some big ol' trees to give you some shade in the summertime - just keep the gutters clean in the spring and fall.

  16. place looks nice. How much land? part of my 5 (maybe 10) year plan is to upgrade to a 4-bedroom place with 3+ acres in a better school district. I know I'll have to migrate a ways to do that, but my wife already works way out East, so that's looking like the direction we'll go.

  17. O rly? 1950's, eh? When the Republican Senate was too busy shitting all over themselves conducting their own personal Spanish Inquisition against "communists", all led by a raving alcoholic asshole who ended up drinking himself to death after being censured by the Senate? It seems Michelle Bachmann, Peter King, and some of the other R's in Congress have taken up that mantle just fine. History has a liberal bias, especially when it's fatal to your argument.
