  3. Regardless of your past military service you were out of line to confront him. He was a kid and if my kid walked out of the bathroom saying some adult man had confronted him in the bathroom that adult man would be answering to the police (probably after a severe ass whooping). The smart thing to do would've been to talk to the parents when the kid went to the rest room.

  4. Do we know for sure it was OC? Could have been deer piss which I think would be funnier. Maybe it was cologne. Assault with Sex Panther. 60% of the time, it works every time.

  5. That's the hard part about this case: everyone involved made wrong decision after wrong decision. Z should never have gotten out of his car, Z should never have followed, M should have called the police instead of his GF, M shouldn't have confronted Z. People get hung up on these poor decisions, but none of them are illegal and the jury's job isn't to decide who should have prevented this, but who committed a crime and they decided the evidence showed M assaulted Z. I can't blame Z for being concerned, I can't blame M for being threatened. If I had some stranger following me around in a neighborhood at night, I would be scared as shit.

  8. If you've paid close attention to my posts, this may already have been obvious, but the wife and I are expecting a baby in January. Our families have known for a fee weeks, but as of yesterday, it's up on Facebook and no longer 'secret.' I'm psyched to meet the crumb-grabber, but probably won't be getting another big bike for the foreseeable future. The time and expense just doesn't add up. I'll still be racing the XR as often as possible, but the combo of not working steadily, and $600/month in student loan payments coming due means no bike for now. Hopefully things change when I land a cushy job. Ha.

  15. Because you're aiming at a smaller percentage of people that want a bike with mods and it's the same with cars. You may find someone who thinks there's added value to a vehicle because there is stuff done to it but more people will look at is as a normal vehicle and don't want to pay for modifications you did. I bought my bike with extras on it but didn't pay more than it was worth because of them and I even told the guy I'm not paying the marked up price because you added such and such modifications. You can try and justify the extra cost because of extra parts but less people are going to be interested, so it's your call on how long you want to potentially sit on it. Or maybe you'll get lucky and find someone willing to pay the little bit extra.

  24. My, so educated, well good for you, me, I'm just a dumb firefighter that also wears a uniform and knows what it takes to wear one and is grateful for people like chevy that know what values are and willingly put their life in danger so that people like us can sit and chat like this. Since you are angry, I'll leave and let you have the last word. We'll agree to disagree, but if I ever see you, I'm buying the beer.

  26. Agreed. Both Z and M made poor decisions that led to a tragedy. I wish everyone would let it go as it stands today, but that won't happen.

  27. My son comes home form Afghanistan this week and he has about 1 more year left in. I'm trying to convince him to GTFO when his time is up because of shit like this. Soldiers are treated so poorly these days and it keeps geting worse while, as mentioned, illegals and lazy bastards continue to get handouts left and right without any problem at all.

  36. The gap between riders in a staggered formation is situational. If you're doing street or freeway riding a 2-4 second gap is ideal. Basically you don't want to leave enough of a space for some cager to slip in on a lane change. That gap can extend in rides down country roads or twisties. You're usually in single file riding through the curves anyway. The staggered formation is highly recommended for group rides because the motorcycles are taking up the entire lane which discourages cars from trying to share it with you. Pulling up to a stop sign two abreast and then riding through in pairs is pretty common practice. Sometimes cars will be nice at four-way stops and let the entire group go right through (but don't bank on it). "Ride your own ride" is a good mantra to follow. It's not worth it to ride beyond your means to try to catch up. If you're with a good group, they'll wait for you at the end of a section of road if you're running a bit behind. If they don't, they're not worth riding with.

  37. Ok so here's the deal. I already see all the threads popping up about cornering, tires, suspension, spirited rides, how do I xxxxx, etc and I have to vent about a few things before the season starts. And yes these are in order!!!! 1. GROUP RODE RIDES ARE NOT THE PLACE TO HAVE A D1CK MEASURING CONTEST TO SEE WHO THE FASTER RIDER IS!!! 2. Less experienced riders need to be in the front or else they always try and play keep up and end up crashing, or rear ending people in front of them. (Get this through your phucking heads people. Im sick of everyone always putting the less experienced people in the back on the group rides.) 3. Asking for riding tips on here is ok but remember, there are allot of opinions and opinions are like assholes and they all stink. What works for someone with more experience wont exactly work for you. Best advice you will get is to read "Twist of the Wrist" cover to cover 3times and practice those techniques on your day to day rides. 4. The track is the only place where you can truly and safely learn to ride controlled and fast and the $170 you spend on the track day will get you more experience then the $500 you spend in gas riding through the country roads trying to showoff to your friends. 5. If you crash your bike being a dumbass doing 1 of the above and ask me to haul your balled up pos bike in the bed of my truck since you have a ford festiva, I think im gonna charge people this year... Same thing for helping you rebuild... And last but not least and actually probably the most important thus 1.1 is: #1.1 If you are being a dumbass and you crash me, someone I care about, or a friend of mine, Your bike and your crash injury's will fail in comparison to what I do to you.. The season is upon us people and we have enough problems with cages not seeing us.. Be smart and safe this year.
