Went out squirrel hunting with the kiddo today for his first time. They seemed to be hiding or to far away all day. We did get a chipmunk today, he sniped him in the ear with a .22 from 20Yrds. The head was sticking out of a hole in a tree. He had to reach down the hole to pull it out. We skinned it for him and are gonna try a salt tan on the hide. He was pumped even though we did not get any tree rats.1 point

We have a Nintendo wii that the kids don't play anymore my oldest just uses it for netflix. I have all the original packaging and boxes, charging station, extra remote, wii fit board, games, ect. I know i could sell it and get a few bucks for it but if anyone knows of any TRUELY underprivileged kids or a family that it would just make their christmas and be thrilled about it I may iust give it away. And when I say truley underprivileged I mean a kids who's parents never in a million years be able to afford somthing like this for thier child. And a child that would be thrill to have it on christmas day, not one that would open it and say "wtf? I wanted a ps4". So just throwing this around right now, so let me know if you know of such a candidate. And I don't want to give this to anyone who is a cheap ass just because its free shit either. Just want to help make some little kids holidays better than it could be.1 point

It is cold and rainy, snow is about to fall. I got home from work on time, no overtime today. I had a few beers and thought it would be good idea to re-read some of my old posts. I joined in 2009, read the thread on working in Marysville, read about selling my Katana, and my first interest in firearms. Then I re-read the thread "my dad has cancer". Cried alittle. Well, that is not true, cried alot. Then smiled. Miss you Dad. Life makes us stronger. Good night for now.1 point

You want a better model to subsidize healthcare???? Here's one: Eliminate the penny. No one needs it anyway.Round every retail transaction in the US up to the next $.05Use the money to subsidize medical premiums.Don't just give more money to Insurance or Healthcare providers. Scrutinize their financial model and look for waste, make them justify their fees if they want any of this money. The federal government is incompetent when is comes eliminating financial waste, so use a private entity like E&Y instead of IRS douchebags.Put the plan to a popular vote, we don't need anymore mandates from Washington.1 point

Turd Tossers and Donomites are in a nail biter this week. Who's running back will do better tonight? KC was off this week so I had to pick up an unclaimed defense to fill in for a week. I think I picked well as Baltimore harassed Andy all day In past seasons there was always some team that went undefeated or one loss, so I was surprised that the app showed me in 1st with 2 losses. Seems like every one is about .500. Craig1 point

I bet your bags look good - I'm a fan of the Cortechs. I ordered the Givi V35 side cases to give it the tightest look, and they had two in stock but they were display cases that has some dings so I ordered new ones. I originally wanted an E36/E45 combo because it's a lot less expensive and still looks great, but we couldn't find them on the web site for IP to order them. I don't remember the model I picked for the top, but it's a 45 gallon model with red reflectors that I may LED at some point. We must have spend an hour trying different case combinations - kudos to the patience and service of Marc and Sue. From the little I've ridden, you're right tpoppa, that engine sure is smooth! I spent 30 minutes in Iron Pony's parking lot getting used to the bike at very low speeds, then testing the ABS and doing firm (but low RPM) acceleration and engine deceleration runs to carve in the rings before the cylinders glaze over (some of you will scream, but that's my preferred method and it's my bike ). I was thoroughly impressed with the power of that plant, and it's pretty torquey at low speeds too - maybe a little less than the V-Star 1100 I traded, but more than my CB700SC. I'm already loving the ABS - I tend to lock up rear wheels when braking hard and this isn't going to let me (yes, except in turns). The seating position on the stock seat is quite nice, and that's with my already cramped-up back (Friday non-motorcycle related injury). The wind was a little noisy at 50 mph but no buffeting. I'm looking forward to a longer, faster ride as soon as my back relaxes. Thanks for the great advice guys - I'm in love with the bike already!1 point

If we go for a motorcycle ride this spring, you've gotta eat lunch somewhere Revel- company 7 bbq. Its a family owned place. Its kind of big for a mom and pop restaurant, but they pull it off well. The brisket is OK, the pulled pork is decent. They also offer some great smoked sausage, and smoked pulled chicken and turkey. I've had it all and its all good, but the wings, they are the best wings I've ever had. Love the smokey , crispy goodness. Their sauces are decent as well. The wings come out naked and you can add whatever/however much sauce you want. They have 6 to choose from.1 point

To keep my same plan, monthly cost would have increased by over 80%. To keep my family coverage cost relatively near what I was paying I lost a LOT of coverage. Trying to defend this proves nothing but closed minded ignorance. How the hell do you expect to do a medical overhaul without talking to anyone in the medical industry and then putting the bean counters in charge of the whole thing. Seriously, you put the IRS in charge of medical insurance reform and expect it to be about anything aside from making the gov't money???? This is not a plan that was devised with the people in mind in any way aside from how can they get more from us and make us look like the bad people at the same time. Instead of just listening to friends opinions try doing a bit of your own research and see what this actually does to people. My personal health care is not your responsibility. Yours is not my responsibility. I take care of my family, then myself. You and yours....That responsibility is solely upon you. Not the gov't. Not the state. Not the old rich guy up the street. Not the good samaritan that enjoys helping people. Yours. There is no reason that you should have to pay for my needs or bills, so what gives anyone else the right to force me to pay for theirs. We may be born equal but our choices change that equation throughout our lives. I have hit bottom in my life and I found a way to bring my ass back up to average and occasionally above. My choice. My determination. My self respect.1 point

I totally agree that you need to teach your children about the guns. I was a cop for 20 years and guns were in our house and our son and daughter. I took our kids out to my wife's parent's farm. I took the most rotten watermelon and placed it on a pile of wood. I used the biggest load in my 357 mag (this was before cops started using semi autos) could take. When I shot the melon it exploded. I then explained to them that if someone is shot with a gun it isn't like a TV, the person will not get up. They will die. Then I taught them gun safety, how to handle a gun, when to shoot and when not to. I didn't leave our guns laying around for their easy access. They were kept locked up. Our son was 12 at the time and our daughter was 10. They are now in their 30's and we never had a problem with our guns. They now own guns and are teaching their kids like I taught them.1 point

I'd kind of like to make this a informational thread for new or veteran gun owners to reference to. Would be great to spread some knowledge around. I've seen quite a few people posting up about wanting to get or just got their first firearm so maybe this will help. This first video I watched all the way through. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v-mxvnFLfc This video I skipped thought but seemed like good stuff. There is 5 other parts of this series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk1VOTyo8I0 I'll add some of my own tips and rules. Please feel free to add your own stuff to help the new guys out. -Always handle a firearm like it is loaded. Finger off trigger until ready to shoot. Pointed in a safe direction away from anything you don't want to shoot. -When you hand a gun to someone, verify it is unloaded. When you are handed one, you should verify it is unloaded. -Teach your children about firearms. If you get rid of the curiosity and inform them, you reduce the risk of them doing something stupid. My daughter is 3. She has been around guns all her life. She knows not to touch them at this point in time. She helps me clean them and is right with me when we shoot. When I feel she is ready, she will be shooting with me. -Hearing protection. If you keep a gun for defense, I recommend shooting it once without hearing protection. Get used to the deafening sound and the ringing in your ears. Remember if you need to use it for an intruder, you won't have time to put in ear plugs. You need to be ready for what will happen. Don't do this with an extremely loud gun, maybe use lower level ear plugs. Also do this outdoors to minimize the sound. Remember that hearing loss is permanent so do so at your own risk. -Shoot your ammo you use for defense. Some ammo can get expensive and many people don't like to fire the stuff they store in the gun. Just like hearing protection, you need to know what to expect. When I got my shotgun, my wife didn't want to shoot it with the 00 buck load. This is the ammo that stays in the magazine at home. I made her shoot it because I wanted her to know what the recoil will feel like if she needs to use it at home. Shoot some hollow points to make sure your handgun feeds them properly. You don't want to be in a situation where you find out your handgun doesn't like the ammo you loaded into it. -A firearm doesn't make you invincible. You are only as good as you train. Shoot it often. Shoot from different positions. A bad guy will not stand there at exactly 50 feet and not move. You might be ducking behind a wall, laying on your side. Try different positions out. Practice in your home and know how your home is laid out, from a tactical standpoint. Of course do this with an unloaded gun and keep your finger off the trigger. -Know what is behind what you are shooting at. This goes for range time and in defensive situations. Bullets can travel for miles and you are responsible for every single bullet you fire. -Clean your firearms. Not only will this keep it in pristine working condition, but it helps you to understand it. Be one with the gun. -Have the right frame of mind. I personally have a loaded sidearm on me or within a few feet 99% of the time. One time I knew I was in the wrong frame of mind. I took the magazine out and the round out of the chamber. Know yourself and what your stress levels are. Don't put yourself or others in danger because you cannot handle what's going on in your life at the moment. I'm sure I have other stuff I'll think of later. DISCLAIMER: The information in this post and the rest of the thread is "use at your own risk." I will not be held responsible or liable for your actions or improper use of a firearm. These are only my views and thoughts and may not be suitable for others. Please read the safety manual that came with your firearm. Remember safety first and don't shoot yourself or others.1 point
