  2. if you can afford a private tutoring / coaching at a dedicated school such as CSS or YCRS then do it! FYI... Sportbike Track time in Novice is dedicated to getting the smallest coach to student ratio available in a commercial track day org... our goal is no more than 5:1 with many days being closer to 3:1 , in intermediate the ratio is 8:1 though individual coaching is available in groups as staffing allows!

  3. You and Todd are acting like strangers on the street at the used car lot down in the hood. working for the seller. The reason his guns are so clean is because all Marines do is clean their weapons and lift weights in the gym. while us Army Dogs are out kicking ass on the battlefield.

  6. Go to a forum that specializes in your bike and see what people are using. Note that a 140 mikuni jet isn't the same size as a 140 dynojet jet. There are charts online to help you with that. Dynojet kits work fine but you pay $100 for $20 worth of parts. The other $80 is for the time they spent figuring out what range of jets will support what mods. I'm not familiar with the daves mod, but I suspect it's to correct the lean condition all factory carbs are set at to improve cold idle and warm up times. If you're just putting on a pipe, I'd personally start with one size up on main jets and maybe shim the needle, run it and see where it's at. Jets are cheap and since you only have 1 carb on an xr, it will be very cheap, but if you are going to just buy jets, hit a forum dedicated to your bike and soak up some more specialized advice.

  12. I suggest finding a coach that understands what you are trying to do. That said, there are only so many CR's out in any given session and they have a lot of cats to corral. Usually they'll stick around for a few laps and then have to move on to keep people from hurting themselves. Keep in mind, the guy next to you paid the same amount as you did for the track day so the CR's gotta spread the love. If you want pretty much all day almost 1 on 1 coaching, try giving N2's ATP class a try. There are classroom sessions in between on-track sessions and they all wear shirts designating that they are in the class. Low student to instructor ratio. I believe they go out in Novice or Intermediate. I think novice. But you will still get passed as N2's novice is pretty much completely open. Part of the experience is learning how to and deal with getting passed. Now if people made some bone-headed passes on you like coming up the inside, that's a different story as that never should've happened in N.
