Dude, there are no car washes around here. We are on Shelby MT for the night. There ain't nothing here.
So here is the story. We took the Going to the Sun Rd from west to east. The National Park Service in their infinite wisdom decided to turn the first NINE miles into the Gravel, Mud and Asphalt Debris Rd.
Hard to describe how bad it was. They ripped out both sides of the road and filled it in with gravel and dirt. The dirt was mud from the morning rain. Insanely uneven side to side. Left wheel track was a solid 7 inches higher than the right. Full of potholes.
We get 7 miles in and they stop us. They are letting one side through at a time so they can finish turning a section into total shit. Some of the asphalt they are ripping up ends up on the travel lane in huge ass chunks.
Saw a Harley go down. I do not fault him, no idea how I didn't go down. Thankfully it was ok and he had 2 others with him and we got it back up.
There is no way in hell the NPS should be letting bikes on this road. There was no warning how bad it was and I had to talk to two people to get in. One for the reservation and one for the park pass.
I am going to tweet at them. Asshats.
However, since I made it through I am calm and I have to say it was an amazing park. Almost as good as Zion.
