I think the end result would not look as good if you were to cut the can. On a side note about the heat tape, when we helped install the hotbodies undertail/pipe on cattmouch's ZX6, the new plastic undertail in the kit came with the heat tape already installed to help keep the undertail from melting. He also put extra heat tape in the tail section to keep that from getting hot ans warping the tail. It all works and keeps his plastic cooler than it it were not protected.

I'm re reading Total Control: High Performance Street Riding Techniques. I have had the book for several years but decided to read it again and compare how I ride now with more years of riding under my belt to how the "right" ways to ride. Its refreshing everything I already knew but didnt realize I knew. It covers riding in a more technical way that makes you understand why the bike acts like it does, etc....

I havent decided if I am going to the Chicago show this year or going up to Cleveland again. I've been going to the show in Cleveland for the past 5 years and Im thinking about trying a different venue to see if the show is any better. Most likely, I'll go to the Cleveland show but keeping my options open right now.

They are like Hells Angels. Just a bunch or rebel bikers that like to deal guns, drugs, and kill.....I watched a documentary on hells angels and the monguls (both of whom dont get along) and that was scary stuff. A FBI agent went undercover to try to bust them but couldnt make a case. He ended up getting into the life and doing a bunch of coke to "blend" in.

Would it really be worth the money to attempt to change to FI? I seriously doubt it would be worth the money and time spent and the possibility of going through a couple engines till you get all the wrinkles ironed out. If you were to make a FI conversion kit, I would suggest making sure it could be fitted to the newer 400EX and try to sell the kits online and see what happens. I'm open to you comming up with a FI kit for my 08 Ninja 250.......

Any luck with Fastenall? You could try Dayton Tool Crib but I dont know if they sell hardware. I know they can get any tool under the sun so the same might go for hardware too if they can get it

And just for clarification, you dont want to get into custom jobs like I requested, just purely only your sponsors for only people on the track? Sorry to ask, but I cant find any place to do the stickers I want without charging an arm and a leg for a sticker. Ebay sells ones similar to what I want but the dimentions are never the OEM size I am after. It would be great if OR had a fellow member to do these kinds of services.

Another thing I just thought of. there is a thread on here about Cycle search and how they can get you the best deals on new and used parts. Might be worth seeing if they have a 400ex sitting around that you can get the hardwear cheap

I went to www.carolinacycle.com and got these prices below (shipping not included). Only $2.11 cheaper than HPS of Troy but still pricey. I bought from Carolina Cycle last winter on a bunch of parts for a Ninja 250 project. I saved $40-50 after shipping compared to Vista Kawi in Kettering. But clearly, in this case, saving money isnt the end result. Kawi parts are cheaper. Damn, Im suprised the website was more. I got a MC rebuild kit for my bike and got it 14 bucks cheaper and an oil seal for about a buck cheaper.

Make sure you remove all drain bolts each time you drain/refill. Not sure about your bike, but my F4i has a drain on the water pump and a drain in the middle of the head. Drain thru all holes, put drain bolts back in, fill with water, run for a few minutes, then drain all over again untill water is clean like already mentioned. When filling bike back up with coolant, it helped me to rock the bike from side to side and give quick blips to the throttle to help work out all the air bubbles.

Its too cold for me to enjoy riding because I cant ride hard and have fun. I take it its not raining where you are? It is here
