Because Bush I raised taxes, and Clinton cut the defense budget.
-
Oh, and I don't blame Obama for it in terms of him being President - I do, however, blame him for being part of the extreme-left segment of Congress that fought for these types of programs and then washed their hands of it after they imploded.

1) The unemployment aspect is more the fault of the market manipulations and the collapse of the housing bubble. So many businesses levied their finances against the market that they lost everything when it popped.... just like '29... In any case, you could blame Congress for not effectively controlling the federal reserve as well, keeping interest rates artificially low for FAR too long and creating market conditions favorable to untenable adjustable rate loans that caused the problems in the first place. That bomb put so many people into bankruptcy that normal industry started to fail when people stopped buying. Other credit-dependent markets (AUTO INDUSTRY) died afterwards as a result. 2) In terms of budget deficit, he is right in saying that the budget deficit more than "tripled." Bush's budget deficit for 2008 was just under $500 billion (SOURCE: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/28/bush-leaving-next-preside_n_115335.html). Obama's projected 2010 budget deficit is.... ready?... $1.75 trillion dollars (SOURCE: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123564748462081261.html). To put that in perspective: the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq cost the country roughly 3 trillion dollars over six years. Obama plans to spend over a third of that in ONE year, at a time when he's already admitted on national television that the country is OUT OF MONEY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGo83FofDhU 3) I think the more important aspect of this point was defection of business to foreign nations. Remember, we have one of the highest corporate tax rates on the planet... iirc it's approaching 37% of all business profits. Some socialist countries don't get near that much. Unemployment can be traced to a multitude of factors... but when businesses leave, it's a concerted and well-though-through process that tells the American people that American business doesn't feel the economic situation here is tenable any longer, and is a condemnation of not only the policy-making administrations but of the economic system, the buyers, and the structure of business in general. Becoming an import business and electing to pay tariffs instead of domestic tax rates is a HUGE problem that no one has adequately been able to address, certainly not the democratic congress and new democratic presidency. Remember, the Congress has been blue for 3 years, since the 2006 elections. They have a huge part to play in our current issues, and there is a reason why congressional approval is in the low twenties.

I'm thinking about fabricating a bar-mount for it. Screw horns. Blow a 2 1/2" hole in their rear fender and see if they keep riding 5 under in the fast lane

rofl you got attacked by a bear? I wouldn't go after a bear with a knife or club, broseidon, no need to piss it off. If it's running at you it's already plenty pissed. I recommend: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/17280 .500 S&W, 2" barrel. If the shot doesn't kill him, the noise will.

rofl that looks like the guy from Clerks 2. Randal Graves: Hey! Freddy f$#@$## Mercury! Where the f#%$ is Kelly? Sexy Stud: [pointing at the donkey] This is Kelly! Randal Graves: I thought that was the sexy stud. Sexy Stud: *I'm* the sexy stud. Randal Graves: But this donkey is a dude! Sexy Stud: Kelly can be a guy's name too. Hey!

Playing devil's advocate - will going back truly give you closure? Even (or especially) if you don't find anyone? If you were truly found in the streets during a war, I don't know that there'd be any record of your parents there. :-\ Did you have a name or anything "pinned to the blankets," so to speak? Any clue as to who you were? I don't see DNA records being helpful in the late eighties... I'm also not sure how El Salvador handles birth certificates. What sort of documentation, if any, were you found with? I'm truly not trying to discourage you, and I wouldn't be able to say how strongly I'd want to find my birth family in your situation. What I am saying is that I hope you're going into this search cognizant of the fact that it may not bring closure to you to search; as you said yourself, you have a better life here, one that was granted you by circumstance or by the grace of God. I think going back to your birth country is a good idea, to learn about your heritage and where you started. But I think going back on some sort of familial discovery quest might be a bit of tilting at windmills. If you want anything translated into Spanish for requests for information, you can send it to me and I'll take a whack at it, though. I would start off with distant contacts before taking a trip down. Emails, faxes, and phone calls like your life depended on it.

Because I'm'a gonna buy one. Think I've found a buyer in Akron for the Suzuki (don't worry, I'll be inviting him here once he buys it). I'm looking for a good tourer, but not a full-size heavy-bagger like a goldwing. Ideally, a larger sportbike/standard, 750 or better, that I could throw some saddlebags on and go for 200-300 miles without serious wrist fatigue. Any suggestions, or do y'all know of anyone who's selling? Someone mentioned a V65 Sabre nearby for sale, which I'm very interested in, but anything in the 90-130 HP range would be nice.

Can count as a concealed deadly weapon, in Kentucky at least... http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/ky.txt But in the ORC, I've only found reference that it's illegal to sell certain types of weapons like this to anyone but Police Officers. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2923.20 To people who: Else: So basically it appears that unless you're disallowed from owning firearms, you're in the clear to OWN them. In terms of concealed carry law, I urge you to contact a sherriff's office and get a police officer's view on it, because they're the ones who'll enforce the law. See if you can get them to give you the specific penal code if they're outlawed for concealed carry. Else, you can probably openly carry them around, if it's not expressly outlawed. I know that knives with fixed blades and folding knives with blades longer than 3.5" are typically outlawed everywhere that guns are (schools, government buildings, etc) so I'd expect the same sorts of restrictions for blunt objects.

Eh, quick cleaning with copper solvents immediately after use isn't a problem for me; I'm brought up never to put a gun away dirty. Sucks about the scope, though; I've only ever looked through one in a gun shop and it was obviously not a true test of strength. I'll have to pay attention to that.

And my personal favorite:

Looks like it's in great condition! Yeah, as far as I can tell from what Papa Google learn't me, the MN is just hanging around the .30-'06. At close range it might hit a little harder, being a slightly larger round, but the ballistics make it die off around 250-300 yards or so. It's still lethal of course but your more modern rounds start to compensate with superior trajectories at that range. I'm thinking about whether to just keep my eyes open for a really, really nice-condition Mosin, or whether I want to go with one of those Dragunov replicas that seem to hit the markets in the 500-600 range from time to time. Aimsurplus has this one going for $700, so I figure I can snag a used one in the $550.00 range or equivalent at a Fun Show.

Haven't gotten myself a gamer tag yet. If they allow special characters, please be on the lookout for: HabloEspwñol

First time I almost lost it.... Guy passed me in a Honda Pilot... FROM BEHIND... And almost put me into a telephone pole. Asshole was doing at least 45 in a 25 (I know, because I was doing 40 to get through the merge of a two-lane st. into one. He came up in the merging lane and tried to merge into my rear wheel). I slammed on the brakes, my bike crabbed sideways and I basically rolled a powerslide towards this very sturdy-looking telephone pole while the asshole in the Pilot decided he'd just roll on by. lol f that, dropped it into second and went WOT by this guy in the (fortunately unoccupied) left-hand turn suicide lane, got around him, turned in the saddle, gave him a "nonverbal" and continued on. He actually caught up to me at the next light, and he was all I"M SORRY I DIDN'T SEE Y--" and I was so mad I tore my helmet off and started screaming, "I'M 6'3" 330 POUNDS, MOTHER!@#$@#$, AND YOU WERE BEHIND ME, HOW THE @#$@#$ DID YOU MISS ME? PAY $%^&^& ATTENTION OR I'LL DRAG YOU THE !@$@#$ OUT OF THAT CAGE AND..." and I kept going after the light turned green, he just rolled up, white-knuckled it and drove away. Was so angry that I almost dropped it in the parking lot at work, had the comedown shakies hardcore.

If it was an Expedition, she would have waved you over and then merged when it was too late for you to evade. I've seen so man dumb Expedition drivers that I'm convinced there's a license that Ford sells with the purchase of a new one - "Be a dick and get away with it until this time next year."

Oh and with regard to being a café racer... If I could fab up, somehow, a pillion cover for this badboy, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I don't know that anyone makes them, however, so it'd be a one-off at this point and I'm not particularly comfortable with spending that much money on something that makes my ride less useful

From what I hear, with a simple barclamp modification, you can swap in the front end from a GSXR1100. Tubes, springs, wheel, brakes, risers... everything. http://vx800forum.com/forum/index.php?topic=1014.0 Ends up looking pretty boss in comparison, lol.
