  1. This is what I'm looking for. Anyone have experience with ups and downs? Brands? Bulbs?
  2. Good morning, all, Have some brief questions for those of you who're learned on light replacements. Those of you who've seen my ride know that my front end looks pretty damned dated. Your standard bigass ugly 7" round jobbie. Since my ride's got the naked sporter look going on already, I'd prefer to keep it minimalist. Can anyone recommend me a setup for smaller cluster lights, a-la-Triumph double-bulb? I'm not looking to spend more than $200.00 - $250.00. I can handle soldering and mounting, etc, but custom brackets might be a problem.
  3. I might roll out if possible. We're talking about the Valley View one, yeah? Or is this Columbus?
  4. Coooool... I'm looking to pick up a Sabre V65 or maybe a Suzuki GSX-1100G here within the next few months. Maybe joining the Old Muscle crew sooner rather than later.
  5. Got real lucky my first summer after buying my bike. Passed a trooper out in BFE Ohio, coming southbound across Rte. 11 to see my girlfriend in Calcutta (aka BFE II, Pennsylginihio). Freshly paved road :yay: so as soon as I got to the fresh tarmac and whacked the throttle open and tucked in because I hadn't gotten a chance to max the Suzuki out. Came over the crest of a small hill, doing about 110, and there's a STATIE sitting in the median... With his head leaned back in his seat, face staring directly at the headliner in his car. Laughed inside my helmet and let it roll down to a safer 70 before I touched the gas again. Dude was passed-out asleep.
  6. que tal contigo berto lol Post some pictures!
  7. Bought my helmet there. They had JUST opened when I walked in (maybe a month prior). The guy manning the desk was a little uninformative... told him that I had 260 to spend on the best helmet I could buy, so hook it up. He didn't tell me sh*t about fit, comfort, what I'm supposed to be looking for, etc. Ended up giving me a solid deal on a Scorpion EXO-1000, though, so I can't complain THAT much.
  8. Oh, and the VX800 is now for sale........... officially..... /cry I would post details here but I need mod approval.
  9. Unknown engine issues = eek, but if it's fixable and in or around the $2000 he might have a deal depending.
  10. YES, please. What sorts of work does it need, and how many miles?
  11. Wesley Cannon. :pelvicthrust: I win.
  12. Mmm. This is a heartening review. Ohios got several for under two thousand. craigslist has several of them for sale. Thanks for the feedback. Those of you own them - I'll be pming you soon.
  13. Eh not so much a "cruiser" afficionado but more cognizant of my needs as a rider. I commute and I tour. I've got extra heft to my frame (being diplomatic) so the uncomfortable aspects of riding a sport bike are compounded - it's why I own a standard now, and why I'm looking for more of an upright bike for my next ride. And you're right - 120HP is fun... and I think it's about as large a jump as I should make at this point.
  14. I've been looking to upgrade from my Suzuki for the past several months... much as I like it, 55HP doesn't get the job done, especially when the gearing is such that I need to rev to 5k to stay up with freeway traffic. I've basically fallen in love with the entire idea of those old 83-86 Honda 1100s, and was wondering if anyone here has one, or experience with one, and would like to share. I heard they have a camshaft problem at times, in the earliest models? How are they in terms of freeway manners? Is there any way to get rid of that godawful pillion seat/sissy bar design?
  15. I think I might have seen ONE other VX out and about. Local Suzuki dealership in Mentor tells me that there are two that come in semi-regularly. I dig that. And thanks for the welcome.
  16. Try shifting faster? I've got a high-revving V-Twin in my Suzuki that sounds remarkably similar to yours. I found my "ideal" shift point by letting it ride up in revs at a medium pace, until it "needs" more gas to shift. I figure that's where the "cruising revs" expire and where the "powerband revs" start. I don't know how good your transmission is, but I shift very quickly and my engine only drops about 500-750 revs when I do. Takes the lurch out of it.
  17. Almost bit it not once but twice in a single morning, at a single stoplight, that exact same way. It wasn't even raining... must have just stopped, but the pavement looked completely dry. Tapped onto the rear brake - ENTIRE REAR END THROWS ITSELF TO THE RIGHT... wobbles hard for a second, and then straightens out. Light getting close now. Tapped onto the rear brake again - ENTIRE REAR END THROWS ITSELF TO THE LEFT... wobbles hard for a second, and then straightens out. I nearly shat myself. I'm glad to hear that you're all right. A busted ankle is nothing to sneeze at but it's definitely something to be thankful for if that's all you walked away with.
  18. Actually, it got made for 7... just never really caught on. If you don't immediately catch the engine difference they're easy to mistake for the GSX1100Gs and so forth. Suzuki really liked that body style that year.
  19. I did my share yesterday. Mayfield - to Willoughby for work - to Painesville to visit a buddy at work - to mayfield - to solon - to mayfield. Everything until I got back to Mayfield the first time was city streets. fml. I don't know if I could look at my ride right now.
  20. Giselle is a sweetie. She joined another forum that I frequent... for about 12 posts. From what I hear she's got a real nice... Corvette...
