president to speak to the nation tonight at 10:30 (5/1)
cfd37buckeye replied to Tomcat0403's topic in Dumpster
I did vote for him, but I also voted for GWB. Seriously, it is about the success of the nation, not about agendas or beliefs. Whoever is in office, I want them to succeed, because that positively affects our livelihood. -
Just won tickets to the Indians game on Sun.

Geeesh....1st place in the division and one of the best records in baseball right now and the Tribe gets no love. I forgo the $7 beers and hit the Clevelander, Panninis, Alesci's, and Wilburts all before the game, so one beer can maintain the buzz. I have Club seats for Saturday night....can't wait -
Stopped in Auto Zone today, they have all of their Motorcycle oil $2 off per quart. And if you have never seen this before, it is kinda handy.... http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html

I can guarantee that a 1981 Maxim has a key code with a letter followed by 5 numbers stamped on the bottom of the ignition assembly. Yamaha did this up until 1990. Get the code, find the guy on e-bay, send him your cash and the code, and voila, you have a working key in less than 7 days.

Pull the ignition switch out, there is a number stamped on the bottom of it. There is a guy on e- bay that makes Yamaha keys from these codes. $12, I got one for my FZ and it worked great.

Yes, I know I am not the only one in Stewarts District, but like others said, why lie to my face? I would rather he tell me the truth. He represents district 20, one of the hardest hit by unemployment, lack of development, and overall job loss by outsourcing over the last 25 years. So now instead of standing up for the people he represents, he sells them out. NCR, March Electric, Arrow Molded Plastics, Ames tool, RCA, Cambridge Psychiatric Hospital and Developmental center.....that is just to name a few that we have lost here due to outsourcing. Colgate Palmolive is here, along with Detroit Diesel, and Ridgid Tool, but have cut their staffing. So let's cut one of the biggest employers in the area, Teachers, state workers, police and fire. That should fuck us all back into the dark ages. Not to mention when they privatize the prison system and send people who deserve a decent wage packing..

The thing that pisses me off the most is that Senator Jimmy Stewart sat right across from me, looked me in the eye in a one on one meeting, and told me that he could not support SB5. He voted Yes on the senate floor. I hate liars and thieves. These crooked bastards are elected by us to be OUR voice in the Capital, not to pursue the interests of their party.

Sorry about your friend. I would not do your job, or that of a teacher.

I think what everybody is missing is that everyone on the local level is going to be hit by this. How is that? Let's ask Gov. Scott Walker who is using the same tactics that will be used here as soon as this bill passes. Local governments will be given the flexibility to manage their employees in a better fashion. (cut wages, raise insurance contributions while decreasing the policy, raise pension contributions) Therefore leaving more money in the budgets for the cities, counties and townships to use. Now hang on kids, this is where it gets fun....when the city does its budget, which has to be balanced, and they show a surplus, the state will roll back the local government funds that they disperse to the locals. This in turn fills the $4 billion a year state deficit, but rolls it back locally.....where it will hurt all of us. Not just me, a city worker, but everyone. When your local government has to raise taxes to cover their part of the burden from lost local government funds we will all share the burden. This kind of crap started with Taft by the abolishment of the personal property tax, and replacing it with the Commercial Activity Tax. Good for the business, bad for the people. Cities lot tax revenue because business no longer paid taxes on inventory, but rather only the things they bought and sold. Our FD alone lost $235k from its budget. We have managed to survive through concessions, and working short staffed. We work with our administration, not against it. Had to edit, because I forgot my Walker reference. After the bill passed last week, 1 day later, in his budget, he cut local level government funding by $1.8 Billion.

Unfortunately, last year at the beginning of the riding season, we were both on a call where an 18 year old hit a van head on on his R1, and lost his life. Puts a lot of things into perspective when you witness something like that in person. That was one of the reasons he didnt ride much last year, neither did I for that fact.

Thanks for passing it along to anyone looking for a starter bike.

And if you are asking for a peoples vote on this issue, you will more than likely get one in November when there is a referendum placed on the bill. The 6% of the voters that turned out for the last election amounts to roughly 250,000. There are 350,000 public union employees in the state. The rest of the process is mere formalities.

******SOLD SOLD SOLD****** Selling for a co-worker. This is a 1989 Honda VTR 250. Bought it out of a barn a couple years ago, it was not running, and had the gawdy pink and teal decals on it. We cleaned the carbs, put in a new battery, stripped the graphics and re-painted. Josh rode the bike a lot the first year, then kinda lost interest a little last year. I think the odometer shows that he only put 110 miles on it last year. The bike gets ridiculous mileage, and runs and shifts well. It may need another new battery due to lack of use. It has a dent in the top of the tank that you can see in the one picture. It has been stored inside his heated basement for the last 2 years. My wife would kill me if I bought it. He also has a Nitro jacket (small) and aN HJC helmet (M). Full package starter deal $1200. Hard to beat for a good running bike with less than 9k miles. You can e-mail me, or you can directly call Josh @ 740-680-6234 https://picasaweb.google.com/cfd37buckeye/JoshSVTR?authkey=Gv1sRgCLKSho_c1aT7fA&feat=directlink

I can cram a $350 k fire truck down a street most people wouldn't attempt driving a pickup, but I damned sure wouldn't want to drive a snow plow.

No, but there should be disciplinary action taken. It first has to be proven that they were in fact at the state house protesting SB5. If they used vacation or personal time, that is their business. It is also management right to ask for a slip. There is a lot of things that everybody THINKS they know about union shops that they do not.

Earbuds for riding - I tested them all (well almost)

I buy the Sony Fontopia off of e-cost for 9.99. They have a short cord, an extension with a built in pause button, and 2 size plugs that will work with most of the smaller plugs on smartphones. They sound really good, and do not fall out of the ears. -
Damn that was fast

I was going to bring up the CDL thing..... We had a guy call off sick, attend a class and brag to another city employee that he was not approved for the day off, so he called off sick. There was nothing the union could do to protect him from that, and we chose not to defend a blatant slap in the face like that. So it does happen in Unions also. When you defend people who do wrong, you make the whole group look like bums. We have lost 3-4 firefighters in the last 10 years who the Union chose not to overextend themselves to protect, because we knew they were wrong. Not saying they are all that way, but this bill is punishing all of us for the greed of many.
-
So what are your options if you come to an impasse? Do you work under the old contract? Or do you work on all of the new agreed contract and negotiate the other points? That is what the new bill implies. An impasse will result in a one year extension of the current contract as it stands while a new contract is negotiated.

A few more thoughts before I jump down from my soap box..... anybody who works in the private sector who thinks this will not affect them, you may want to put some thought into this. Union wages and benefits tend to build a more competitive market especially when it comes to skilled trades. A private electrical contractor has to pay a decent wage and benefit package to keep a quality employee working for him rather than going into an apprenticeship or working a union job. Without the unions, competition is gone, wages drop across the board, and everybody is working for peanuts. You think the construction business is lagging now, and there are a lot of foreclosures, wait until this bill makes it through. But I guess I do not have to convince any of you, you do not have a vote. Kasich and his cronies are going to cram it down our throats.
