Depending on where he was pulled over for the U-turn (which he never once specified), it is possible that U-turns ARE LEGAL. It's equally possible that it was done somewhere that U-turns are ILLEGAL. Damn.

Rick is probably right, but you could always try to fix it first. It's a lot cheaper that way if you are just doing it yourself. Take a grinder to the rust, and get every last bit of it out of there. Wipe it clean with a towel or rag, then immidiately primer it. If the entire area in question will be hidden by the spoiler, I wouldnt worry about paint - just douse it with primer. Tape off anything you dont want primered, though. I'm not sure what to suggest for a gasket. However, I would suggest checking it again in a few weeks to see if the rust is coming back. If so, new hatch.

No it's not.

I believe there is no state law banning u-turns. However, many cities throughout Ohio have their own laws against it. A friend of mine got pulled over once back in Marietta for doing a u-turn. The officer pulled out his lawbook, and discovered that there was no law there against it. I suggest you do some research to see if it is a city law at the place you were pulled over. If it is NOT illigal, go back to where you did it and take some pics to bring to court to prove that you were in the right, showing that there is no sign preventing it.

All my life I had used People's bank, but that's only in southeast ohio, so I dropped it since they have no coverage here. Their online banking is easy to use.
