Those two games that I suggested are good for completely immersing yourself into. The first time I played through F3 I had 140+ hours into the game, then I started over as an evil character. I'm playing F:NV right now and probably have close to 60 hours in it, and I've been to maybe half of the locations. F3 game of the year edition comes with 5 add on packs that aren't included in the regular game so its worth getting, and now that the new game is out its cheap. It is by far my favorite game out there. New Vegas is extremely good too, but hasn't sucked me in quite like 3 did.

I've got an HP laptop that I bought with tax rebate money almost three years ago for ~$1,000, with an AMD dual core Turion, and it's been flawless except for the battery going to shit since I always leave it plugged in and on. I NEVER shut it off unless I'm taking it somewhere, and I use it every day, and it works great. It plays DOOM 3 like a champ, so as far as I'm concerned its way more powerful than it needs to be. When I first got it, it had Vista on it and after a short while starting running REALLY hot. I eventually installed Win7 and now it runs nice and cool. If you aren't gaming it, and you aren't, then don't worry about having the fastest processor, a 2.0+ dual core should be a minimum but will do you fine. Worry about the quality of the rest of the thing. HP/Compaq make very nice laptops, start there, and don't worry so much about who makes the processor so long as whatever you demo runs fast enough for your liking, which should be anything in the store, even the little Atoms.

Boxee already has that, I've seen stuff to use your phone as a generic mouse but haven't messed with it, and a Boxee box comes with a pretty good looking remote that is a simple remote on one side and keyboard on the other.

Boxee will do exactly what Google TV will, except you don't have to buy anything to do it (unless you want to buy a boxee box, but that's up to you). Hulu is pretty good so long as you are wanting to watch something on a network that works with them, and so long as you don't mind only having the latest couple episodes available, unless you subscribe to hulu plus, which i'm thinking about doing. Hulu Plus is suppose to have the latest entire season available or something, and is HD. It's $7 or $8 a month. To fill the in gaps, get Netflix for streaming as much as possible, and get the two DVD at a time package for what you can't stream for $12 or $13 a month. You are now up to $20 a month, and have access to most things current (Hulu) and everything before (Netflix). Certain channels like Spike and Comedy Central only show stuff through their own websites. southparkstudios.com is a great time waster. Throw in WinX DVD ripper for what you get in the mail from netflix to speed up turn around plus a giant hard drive, and you are set for pretty much anything at a much lower price. I spent about $400 on a computer with a triple core AMD processor and a 2TB hard drive, and I can watch netflix while ripping DVD's. My old cable bill was $150, so needless to say it paid for itself in a couple of months.
