  1. 8 minutes away, baring disasters. It takes me longer to put the gear on... Dunno... It's been busy at work lately...
  2. We can block a user. Stuff quoted second hand will still be seen though.
  3. I don't think any of us would charge out in the Springtime and attempt a long ride, for our first ride. Not without a few rides of shorter duration, to get up to speed. And some days, you just have to cut it short and turn back early. I don't think hardly any of us could do what you did.
  4. I used to buy just about anything still up on two wheels, if it was a dollar a cc or less. But I generally tore the engine and transmission down immediately. (And everything else.) But geez... that's an old bike... and there's still a lot of them around in people's garages. edit: I seriously like the Honda F models. I could go for an old 750F or 900F.
  5. the jk part didn't show up in the post... just sayin'... 500+ is more than the majority can handle in one day. My butt has been pretty sore on a few 600+ rides. I've glad everyone survived. Guess it was a rough day for some.
  6. errr... I forget the timing of the events (looks it up), but the AMF buy-in/bailout was in the late 60s, and the trade sanctions were in the 80s. Maybe we should count MV Agusta buying OUT as a type of bailout also... At the time, all I could think of was AMF bowling balls, and wondered how that would be integrating with motorcycles... Also, Harley tried to get the gov to do a 40% import tariff in 1952, which would have killed British bikes in the USA. Instead Harley was charged by the feds for unfair trade practices. Introduction of HD into India is the latest gambit. I'm not sure that will work out too well. Wiki
  7. I shouldn't make light of this. I've known people to go down in winds. I've been in a couple of storms with steady high crosswinds, with and without rain, where I wondered if I'd stay upright. A steady counter steer against the lean/wind will result in a straight line down the road at a stiff lean, but if you let go, you're in trouble. Eventually, you doubt what is happening, and you want to let go and ride normal. That's when you need to slow down and pull over and wait till it's better. Don't push your luck in a cross wind. edit: Some bikes get pushed around more than others. So ride yours, and watch out for theirs.
  8. lol, geez... Alien chest popper meets Squid of the week. Rated R for sexual innuendo...
  9. I had trouble visualizing this one. I thought the van had a left and right rear door. It doesn't, it was a hatchback. The front wheel broke and the forks bent on the rear bumper, causing the bumper to fling out left and right. The bike punched a bike shaped impact on the rear hatch, and pushed it to the backseat. The rider launched through the rear hatch window, and into the front seat (and back seat), and stayed in the van. Probably bounced off the van's interior roof. The bike rebounded, exiting the vehicle, and skidding to a stop on the side of the road. The rear window must have been intact when he hit it. Frankly, the rear hatch window saved his life. It slowed him down just enough.
  10. could have added a few frame clamps to bolt up to. But the zip ties are way lighter. So I guess we need to invent the carbon fiber frame clamp.
  11. Already watched it. Looked like an out of focus camera and an ordinary aircraft. http://news.google.com/news/more?pz=1&cf=all&ncl=dY5-VgOmVB_4Y9Mqzsb7nsMH-XUvM http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&ct2=us%2F0_0_s_19_1_aa&bvm=grid&topic=-567036649540930968&usg=AFQjCNFN1Oxqfl4LVNzLezF1AVOyU0tonQ&cid=8797597139634&ei=80WdTMDPJKO6lQf8p9wN&rt=HOMEPAGE&vm=STANDARD&url=http%3A%2F%2Ftucsoncitizen.com%2Fparanormal%2F2010%2F09%2F24%2Ftucson-ufo-sighting-ufo-enthusiast-captures-object-on-video%2F http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&ct2=us%2F0_0_s_19_2_aa&bvm=grid&topic=-567036649540930968&usg=AFQjCNFjZ1_7GDoA9g7WKggI1flDhU7LHA&cid=8797597139634&ei=80WdTMDPJKO6lQf8p9wN&rt=HOMEPAGE&vm=STANDARD&url=http%3A%2F%2Ftucsoncitizen.com%2Fparanormal%2F2010%2F09%2F23%2Fufo-sighting-in-tucson-sparks-dozens-of-calls-to-newsrooms%2F http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=13209980
  12. Durrrr.... at 3pm I didn't even notice. Mostly freeway home (tail wind). But it was pretty windy this morning at work.
  13. I fixed one by removing the seats and interior, and hosing it out with a garden hose for a long long time. Seats and carpet on the driveway, same thing.
  14. nice website... bookmarked that one
  15. Added to MP3 player... TYVM http://www.mediafire.com/?wxymz1ger5x @320bps
  16. Kindly be informed that in Central Ohio, more raccoons than bats are rabid. Therefore... Rabid Vampire Raccoons... edit: and of course, the occasional Zombie Raccoon...

The word is that the Iranian centrifuges used to enrich uranium somehow got broken. Something probably with the computer control of them. Over 3000 centrifuges damaged.

I saw this. Modern technology at it's finest. I'll remind people that the raid into Syria to hit the reactor under construction, somehow mysteriously shut down the Syrian defense network, or in some places... it said nothing was going on.
  19. go away Mods, please change TD's name to YoYo... he keeps coming back...
  20. Back-in-the-day.... we had a series of 22cal killings around central Ohio. Forensics was able to determine it was a basic Ruger Mark I. You couldn't give one away for years... edit: http://crime.about.com/od/serial/a/lewingdon.htm
