If we want a bailout, do it right. Give the money to the people. Give a tax rebate to anyone who buys an American car. Everyone wins, even the IRS, they get more people filing taxes, apparently a lot of them don't.

Ok, one thing I found out the hard way, is that stainless steel corrodes when touching aluminum, way worse than steel and aluminum. It will light it up and leave a smoking hole in your part. It's basically creating a battery, that produces current. Add water, acid rain, or salt, and it speeds the corrosion up. The only thing worse that I can think of is titanium and aluminum mixed together. Big no-no. When in doubt, put some paint between them. (just looked it up, magnesium and titanium combo is worse.) Note: cadmium is seriously toxic when vaporized, like with an acetylene torch. Here's a chart, courtesy of the Naval Surface Warfare Center:

The fatality rate in these attempts is rather high. I'm reminded of the attempt to break the sound barrier on water with a high speed boat, over in England. It took a bad bounce and hit the water and most of it vaporized. Yes, vaporized, they never found the driver, only very small pieces of the boat.

BTW, http://cheapcycleparts.com/ is also low priced and got the stuff. Servicehonda.com is about the same prices, but the shipping seems to be a bit higher. These are the two cheapest Honda sources I've found. I checked at least a dozen popular OEM parts websites. Oddly, bikebandit.com has mostly full retail prices on a lot of parts. Hence the bandit in their name? Dunno. They never have anything in stock anyway.

I've read some Enders, but I need to read them all. I've gotten to where I'll reserve all of an author's books from the library, and just read them all. That's what happens when you can't remember which ones you've already read.

At least in the Winter months, I'll read more books in a month than most people do in a year (or for some, their entire life). I like high tech stories, both fiction and non-fiction. Currently impressed by: Science-Fiction first: Impressed by Robert Charles Wilson; his book Spin, and the follow on Axis. Probably two of a three part trilogy. Read Spin first. Also his book Blind Lake, a very unusual story, with some surprising twists. Impressed by John Scalzi , supposedly the next Robert Heinlein; Three part trilogy, they don't have to be read in any particular order. Old Man's War (2005) Ghost Brigades (2006) The Last Colony (2007) Non-Fiction: Marines in the Garden of Eden: The True Story of Seven Bloody Days in Iraq (Paperback) - Richard S. Lowry This is one of the most real combat books I've ever read. It is the battle of An Nasiriyah, in Iraq. It begins with the Army convoy ambushed, where Private Jessica Lynch was captured. This book pulls no punches, it's all the gritty terrible bloody confusing noisy action that dominates a battlefield. Many troops died, and the truth is, all should have died, but they won anyway. It's a tribute to the American combat method and independence of action; to win a conflict dominated by ambush, murphy's law, and excessive fog of war. A very real account of what combat is actually like. Note: Jagr, read this book, if you haven't already.

I don't think we should reward failure. That is all.

I was out last Friday for a last tank of gas. I think it was below 20F. It was snowing. The bike was definitely frozen, and stayed that way. It handled really weird. It's down till March.

Download this Honda Common Service Manual and read chapter one. http://downloads.hondatech.info/Moto/Common/Honda_Common_Service_Manual.pdf Headbolts are probably special USB class high tension hardware, and won't be cheap. They are not always marked on top, but there is an undercut under the head of the bolt, that no other bolt would have. Another clue is they have a wide rim like a built in washer, it's special for high tension applications. And they do stretch easy, and need replacing more often. And you're not the first person to snap off a headbolt. Welcome to the club. Steel bolts in aluminum engines get corroded and stuck, whoda thunk.

yeah, what Lizard1 said... Bolts and screws stretch when torqued. After torquing them two to four times, you need to get new ones anyway. They weaken, they can't help it, you torqued them. Mil-specs, aircraft rules. It's why most aircraft don't fall out of the sky. good rule for head bolts too. There is a lot of cheaters in hardware manufacturers now. The specs might not be too good. Buy from a good source.

I know that feeling, that V-Rod gets the jump on me. It can't get away, but it go fast. Lots of torque.

http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/index.html http://www.mfgsupply.com/ATVEngineHondaWiseco.html/mv_session_id=qZSMBWxq This place sells the Wiseco overbore rings and pistons. They are listed by bore diameter and compression etc. I didn't know which one was yours. When you find a Wiseco part number, do a google search for that, and see who else sells them. Most shops should have a Wiseco catalog anyway, and will order the parts for you. When all else fails, order from Wiseco. http://www.wiseco.com/ Just curious, did you have to sleeve the cylinder for the 440, and did you install a hot camshaft?

YouTube says: Video Issues: The video won't play Videos on YouTube are streamed through an Adobe Flash player. For the best viewing experience, we suggest you install the latest version of Adobe Flash after removing any old versions you've installed. Please completely uninstall Flash before reinstalling the latest version. To uninstall Flash, please follow Adobe's instructions, listed here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157 Once you're done, restart your computer and follow Adobe's instructions for reinstalling Flash: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash If the instructions above don't resolve the issue please try the following: Temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to test. Allow YouTube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software. Ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player, or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player. (the SWF file) I would also wonder if your video driver is up to date. And often the best driver is from the chip manufacturer, not the laptop manufacturer. Might be a problem. If you're using Firefox, try IE, or vice versa. See if it works. Test your wireless vs wired speed. http://www.speedtest.net/ It's probably not a problem, but should check. My wired connection is 3000+ download speed, but the win98se machine sometimes does poorly on videos. The other computers work fine. So that would be the old video processor, I suppose. Too bad yours is a laptop, I'm betting that if you used another video card, better than the internal system board video processor, it would work correctly. And is why I asked if the video driver is up to date. Also update the sound drivers. sometimes they interfere with the video playback. Check in your BIOS, and see if the video processor settings are correct.

oh no, don't ever use that Prestone radiator flush. You'll never get the suds out. It will foam for hours and hours. That's my experience on a car, and I'll never do it again. I remove drain plug, disconnect both hoses, and use the garden hose to flush pressure through both radiator and block both ways. The water pump and thermostat are both obstacles, but it's better than nothing. I don't feel like removing them. Both have bypass that lets some water get past. The type of corrosion meant to be removed by reverse flushing just doesn't exist on a nice clean motorcycle engine anyway. Don't forget to drain, flush and refill the overflow reservoir also. Put plug and hoses back, fill with distilled water/coolant mix. I use Honda brand anti-freeze meant for aluminum engine.
