    Virus Warning

dudes, I spent half the week at work removing stealth viruses hiding in messed up computers. There apparently is a lot of viruses around right now, and most do not give much of a clue that they are there.
  2. oddly, the coolant reservoir is pressurized on a Jeep, go figure...

    ScanAmerica

To me, the interesting part is that the majority of the calls never make it into the "popular" news that we are spoon fed. I used to scan with mobile radios, and one night riding around, we heard a call to a convenience store, and it said being robbed by gang of dudes with Uzis (sub-machine guns). Dead silence, no response. Slowly each local car called in busy, and said they couldn't make it over there. Go figure that one out.
  4. Looked it up, you have an interesting island. I got one too. It's in South Carolina near Charleston. It's about 20 miles by 40 miles square area, between two forks of a river flowing into the Atlantic. Maybe I should claim it. I think it's mostly swamp. It's got a national forest right in the middle of the island. That's a road trip I can do.
  5. On-Line police and fire scanners. It uses streaming audio to your winamp. You do have winamp, don't you? There are a bunch of these, but this one has the best coverage. Yeah, it's Winter and I'm bored. Scanner America http://www.scanamerica.us/index.php
  6. I want to know if it has little tiny heat seeking cruise missiles that will fly up a tailpipe...
  7. B-2B bomber motorcycle. made by Northrup Grumman, just for fun. http://www.irconnect.com/noc/press/pages/news_releases.html?d=157374
  8. Oh God, pink chrome... (suddenly hears the song "Pink Cadillac")
  9. I read that the EXO-400 was nearly as good as the EXO-700 at a lot lower pricetag. So I bought two on sale at pony... dunno. You'all want that flip down visor, don't you. BTW, dunno about the 700 and 1000, but the 400 is a polycarbonate, not fiberglass.
  10. attention copper1k, the video says they can do copper... you know you want it
  11. Hell, I thought the original was one of Casper's jokes.... I got neither, guess I better check the spam filter...
  12. drum brakes front and rear, I didn't know it either...
  13. On bikes that have a drum brake in rear (or front), there is a torque arm to keep it from turning. I had one fall off a long time ago, and destroyed the cable and brake drum. It was my first stoppie. I stood it up on the front wheel rather than rear end a car.
  14. lol, I modified an auto to feed .45acp semi-wadcutters. I agree.
  15. I'm geeking out here... 16. You didn't mention transportation. Car, bike, or urban transit (rail/bus/cab/bicycle/feet)? You can get a 30 day EuroPass for the rail in Europe. Goes everywhere. Certain travel rules apply. At all stops there will be buses, cabs, bicycle rentals, car rentals, etc. Rather than haul all your stuff around, try and find one of the few hotels or hostels that will allow free or low cost storage of your luggage, while you take trips around to other places for a few days. You'll have to do some research to find where those type places are. There are a lot of resources on line, but it will be overwhelming amounts of info till you get a handle on what you really want to do while there. BTW, the only tours that I would recommend, are not bus tours, but boat tours down rivers. Very cool.
  17. Welcome! Ohio motorcycle roads: http://www.motorcycleroads.us/states/oh.html http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/MidWest/OH/OH_index.htm
  18. If you look for your own flights, be sure to check connections through Canada and on to Europe. They can be cheaper than flights from the USA to Europe.
  19. A lot of European countries have tons of little "bed and breakfast" places. In Germany, people are allowed to rent out a spare room, and many do. They have a sign posted that says "free", meaning "vacancy". Find a Frommer's guide in your library for the area you want to go to. It won't give a lot of low cost solutions, but gives an idea of what to expect, and what time of year is best to go. I'm working on an England/Scotland/Ireland for my next trip.
  20. Industrial Product Design, Mechanical Design, Computer Electronics, and Aviation degrees. Four college degrees, almost a permanent student. Taught mechanical engineering classes for 3 years. Worked mostly as design engineer in aerospace doing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and cryogenics. All projects were weapons systems. Now repairing computers and taking care of off-the-local-net type networks for local college. Ex-Army special forces payroll clerk. Ex-Honda motorcycle mechanic from way back. And yes, I can program in many languages. Geeky... edit: and oh yeah, I go fix Casper's computer when he breaks it...
  21. So who's gonna take the chance and test it out? I've not heard of anything one way or the other. I'd be ok in a lot of places that the locals know me, but not sure I'd try it out of town in another locale. I'm sure most everyone knows of at least one town that has no clue, or doesn't care what the new laws are.
  22. Yup, when you get back, you won't want the same bike anymore. Been there, done that.
  23. Blitzburgh, you are correct. I should have made that clear. They took the stupid part out. But if you arrive at a location that doesn't allow carry, you would still be doing the same dance to leave it in the vehicle. Or refuse to do business there, that works.
  24. Yeah, it could become the major source of fuel in the future. It still needs a lot of work, but it's got great potential. I think there is a lot of outfits trying to get this perfected.
  25. ok, I wasn't sure if you're counting IPs, MACs, cookies, or units of O-R... once again you surprise me... heh
