  1. My wife is in St Anns tonight, she was rushed to the hospital this afternoon by her coworkers for severe abdominal pains. Shes been having issues with abdominal pains for weeks now, they suspected her gall bladder but all the tests they ran kept coming back negative for any problems. She was scheduled to have a nuclear heidascan on her gall bladder tomorrow at Riverside but instead ended up having that scan today at St Anns unexpectadly. The test was positive for gall bladder failure so they admitted her and she's having it out tomorrow morning sometime. So, I know a gall bladder removal is pretty standard operation and should be cut & dry but anytime you go under the knife, you know, its scary! So keep us in your prayers tonight everyone, and thanks! I'll have my laptop with me tomorrow and let you know how things go.
  2. The problem is getting progressively worse. I just finished backing all my essential things to my external drive and forwarding all my email to my gmail account temporarily. Gonna go ahead and do a format and clean install, probably tomorrow night, I'm sick and this crap is making me feel even worse, gonna go lay down.
  3. Hey, here is a copy of my latest event log, saved as a windows event log file which can be opened using your event log, when opening it chose APPLICATION as the log type. http://www.davidrosso.com/temp/eventlog.evt
  4. - Both fans appear to be running fine (cpu and power supply). - Will run the memtest86 next, the windows one appears to be passing ok - Motherboard is clean, no sign of any malformed caps - A second cd/dvd drive and a floppy drive were added from the original config and a external usb drive is in use but it has its own power supply. So I'm running a 160g hd, a floppy, and dual DVDR drives, oh and the hd was replaced once, the original failed maybe a year or two later, thats when I added the external drive cause I lost lots of data. BTW, this ain't the end of the world, I've got my wife's pc, a work laptop and the netbook, its really just an inconvenience. If it gets much worse I can just add a profile for myself on the wife's pc until I can get mine fixed or replaced. For a few hundred bucks I can get another new powerspec from Microcenter, after the holidays, can't afford it right now.
  5. Haven't installed any new hardware and don't have any nonesential cards I can remove. I am running the memory test Recon recommended but its looking okay, all the standard tests passed, running the extended tests now. I suppose I can do a fresh install of windows but man I hate doing that.
  6. Pullin my hair out tryin to figure out whats wrong with my pc.

  7. I'm running that on our Netbook. It was suggested by the salesman at Microcenter because of the low resource usuage (netbooks don't have a lot).
  8. Both the Spybot S&D and Malware programs turned up nothing (I didn't expect to have any mal/spyware anyway). I used the crapcleaner to fix over 330 registry errors. Hopefully that will do it! Hasn't rebooted since , we'll wait and see. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
  9. Its not a overheating pc from dust buildup, its definelty seems to be windows or software related. I think I've got registry issues. Ran the malware program, it turned up nothing, ran the ccleaner, like that program, I like that fact that you can easily manage your startup files from that, it also found lots of errors with my registery, I haven't ran the fix yet, gonna see what Spybot S&D finds first, running that now. Oh, and thumbs up on the "eventvwr" windows log, lots of info there. Thanks.
  10. I still have OneCare running on the wife's pc, the subscription is up in May 2010, after that I'll remove it and install the McAfee on hers too since it has a license for 3 pc's. As far as backingup and reinstalling, yeah, been that route before, backup is easy since I have most everything already backed up on an external hd, its the reinstalling of all my software and getting my pc back to the way I like it that takes me DAYS not hours. Not sure I want to commit that kind of time right now. Thanks, I'll check these suggestions out. As for a "free" anti-virus, that kinda scares me, the old "you get what you pay for" is not something I want to take chances with on my AV.
  11. My pc has started doing weird things lately and I need some advice on where to look for the culprit or how to fix it. I've taken some steps already and things have gotten better but its still doing strange things. The pc is a PowerSpec 6342 from microcenter, can't remember when I got it, its been awhile. Its running Windows XPHome Edition Service Pack3. Lets start at the beginning.... - Pc was running Windows Live OneCare as its all in one security program... Firewall/Antivirus/Antispyware/Backup. I started to have issues with OneCare crashing randomly, also in the morning when waking up the pc I'd find it all jammed up and almost unusable as something had slowed it down to a crawl. I changed my "power settings" so that windows did not shut down any of the harddrive activities overnight suspecting this was an issue since OneCare did its scanning and archiveing late at night. After changing the settings to "always on" except for the monitor things got better, the slowing down in the mornings stopped but then I started experiencing random windows errors and random reboots. Still suspecting Windows OneCare, I removed it and purchased McAfee's Total Protection program. After installing it and running a full scan of my system it found some things it quarantined and removed. Feeling good I thought maybe the problems would stop. Nope. Still getting random Windows errors and reboots. So thats where I am. Any thoughts? Any suggestions on a registry cleaner/fixer program?? I'm leary of any you can download. How about a log? Is there somewhere I can check to see whats been triggering the reboots?

    Just saying hey

Not sure what that means; and pretty sure I don't wanna know
  13. Welcome! Yamaha rocks! But my opinion may be biased
  14. Hmm, I thought it worked like that, I'm not sure where I heard that but perhaps I was wrong. Her car was a nice looking higher-end suv like a mercedes or infinity, something along that line.
  15. You know I was tellin the story about this accident to a coworker this morning when I realized something... the lady the ran the red, smashed headon into the side of the explorer at enough force to throw it up in the air yet her airbags did not pop! I know cause I didn't seem them and she was able to drive out of the intersection, when they deploy it kills the engine and it not supposed to start back up. Thats kinda strange ain't it, but I guess theres really no way to "test" them to insure they are gonna work.
  16. I think its cool I'm in your avatar , thats my head just behind your girl there, I remember that ride well, I still had my Silverwing.
  17. You know, I could kick myself for not having my Hero running, I do have a mount on my windshield in the work van and sometimes run the cam for just such things.
