  1. The offense was riding a dirtbike illegally? Clearly the officer was within his rights to use lethal force to keep this guy from traveling without paying the govt first.

No that wasn't it, the story said the first guy was in a car, being chased by police, got rammed by the cop, jumped out of the car then jumped on the back of his friends bike. Not exactly sure why he was being chased in the first place.

Just reread the story, now I'm confused, there is no mention of a car.

Officers in a police cruiser chased a man and slammed into him on a street corner. The man was fine after being hit, started running and jumped onto the back of his friend’s dirt bike. The police cruiser then went after the men and slammed into the bike, killing the driver. The other man on the bike broke his leg and was arrested.
  2. Assuming you were not in the act of committing a crime, and just minding your own business...why would a officer demand your pistol, or even be talking to you (know you are carrying ((unless open carrying)))?

If you're going to argue, at least read what i typed/linked, so you can have a valid argument.

Yes, I mean during open carry, cause yes, that is the only time they would

know and be asking for ID and your weapon. But like I said, I know when

it came down to it I wouldn't argue with an officer and I'd hand it over but

I'm just interested in knowing what they can/can not actually ask you to do

and/or force you to do. Watching the videos on youtube are quite

enlightening, very interesting to see officers schooled on the street by

citizens legally carrying. I could never do that though :o, after all I don't

have Brass Balls. ;) <let's see who gets that one>

  3. ...if the person surrenders a firearm to the officer, either voluntarily or pursuant to a request or demand of the officer...
Pursuant to a request or demand. Demand. There is no argument.
The law that i quoted may not be the specific one that gives them

the ability to disarm you, but because it says "demand", they can.

So, you're saying because it says "demand" that you have to give up your weapon, if they demand it?

So what about when they "demand" your ID and you refuse on the grounds

that you are not required to produce it unless suspected of committing a crime.

There are 100's of youtube videos out there that have proven this "demand" to be unconstitutional

and bogus, so why would it be any different for a "demand" to fork over your weapon,

assuming you were not in the act of committing a crime and just minding your own business.

Like Gunner said, I probably wouldn't argue this demand but its good to know where we

stand legally in what we are required to do, by law. I don't know that it's "law" that you

give up your weapon, so much as a courtesy to the officer, and a good way to avoid

    getting shot ;)

  4. Is there a difference between the clips and the quick connect?

The quick connect is designed for permanent mounting on the battery,

or at least extended mounting, such as all winter long. The advantage

is you can put the bike back together and just run the connector out

under the seat somewhere for quick connection as opposed to having

the disassemble things to get to the battery.

  5. Anyone know where I could get just the little plug things that attaches to the battery? The one with either bare wire or eyelets on the end, not the clips. I want a second plug but dont want to buy a whole new battery tender.

    Iron Pony has them.

  6. If they are stopping you they have the right to secure your weapon during the stop. They have to return it to you in the condition you have it to them.

If I comply with their request for ID I'd hope they wouldn't feel it necessary to disarm me. :o

  7. Real easy to fix... fence in the entire property with a gate at the driveway to the lot.

Install perimeter protection inside the fence so if anyone hopped the fence, cut thru it

or drove thru the gate they'd trigger the perimeter alarm before even having a chance

    to reach the building.

    Not rocket science.

  8. Lots of good replies here, thanks guys. I don't generally plan on open

carrying, just trying to find the right concealed carry option at this time

and like I mentioned one of the options was basically a partial concealment.

If and when I do open carry, I plan on being 100% compliant with the LEO

that will most likely show up at some point, at least as far as furnishing ID,

I have no intention of giving up my weapon to them but I'll gladly give them

my ID. All the videos you see on youtube with people getting harassed during

OC have to do with them being difficult with the LEO and refusing to show ID.

I've nothing to hide, therefore they are more than welcome to run my ID.

  9. with most stuff yes.... but old British bikes and cars ran positive ground

Lol yeah I wasn't going to go there.

Anything made in the last 20yrs is probably gonna be negative chassis.

But in his situation he's using the clips anyway, so black to black, red to red, done.

  10. i may or may not have an lcr .357 or shield or xd-s in a pocket holster in my front pocket or inside jacket pocket at (almost) all times.

I have a Uncle Mikes in-pocket-holster I primarily use right now, the gun is

fully concealed like that but quite bulky so hence the experimenting with

    other options as well.

  11. then keep it concealed.... out of sight out of mind

even though you are completely within your rights open carrying if the call goes in the LEO's have to respond and unfortunately not all LEO's know and understand 100% of the law

I understand that, just looking for options and want to make sure I'm not

crossing some kind of legal line by having it partially exposed at times.

    BTW I have my chl.

  12. I realize that lol i need to know which is the ground... :/

Negative should be the ground. But not sure I understand the question

or confusion, the tender has a quickconnect cable that comes with it,

you simply connect the black connector to the negative and the red

connector to the positive, then plug the tender into the quick connect cable.
