I would still throw the thing on a charger over night... When my buddies had starting issues we had tried everything even charger with 50 amp jump setting and it wouldn't start just for the hell of it we put it on charger and next day fired right up never found any other issue so I don't know if it was the battery or just a coincidence.

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on?

My buddies triumph had brand new battery but he ran it down and it would crank but not start until we fully charged it. Is it trying to fire at all?

First off if you were cranking and cranking before you try a bunch of shit fully charge the battery and try to start again Triumphs are picky they don't like low batteries.

I would never let someone from craigslist come to my house but since you are have a couple buddies come over or at least make sure you are armed too many people get robbed or worse from Craigslist meetings. I personally wouldn't allow anyone to test ride until I had cash in hand if he is financing the bike then go to the bank with him to pick up check once you know it's legit let him test ride and give the bank the title. If the guy is legit he will understand and if it was me I would be leary of someone selling a bike that wasn't overly cautious. Do not allow him to have your plate. No personal checks ever you could also have him pay you through paypal if he wants to write a check. Paypal covers you both. I sold a ex500 to two guys from Canada a few years ago based on my description and pics they knew there was no test ride until bike was paid for in my case there was a lien so we met at my bank they paid the bank and me and the bank transferred the title then we went to a buddies house where I had taken the bike that morning.

It's not just interstates it's busy roads and left to the cops discretion. I have heard of people getting charged with no operators license for riding after dark on permit I guess it's pretty much up to the cop what they want to hit you with in that case. No one has mentioned the fact that if you have permit your insurance isn't going to go down they will always consider you a new rider
