so does it run reliably? everything works, etc? the only thing wrong being the horrendous homosexual paint job? the reason i ask is cause i'm considering buying this for my old man for his bday present and while he SAYS he's ok with a fixer upper, i think if it had actual problems, it would just sit in his garage and then i'd have to sell it for him later. as far as price, that's a lot closer to what i would believe is realistic, but i'm sure we can find a middle ground somewhere if it came to that.

i've pretty much stayed out of this whole banana fest minus throwing in my usual quips, but i will say I've met and rode with that dude in person on a couple occasions (as have others), and he fixed me up with a new, non-exploding furnace and did a great job of it. he is a stand up guy from what i can tell, and though i might not agree with the tact he displayed in the RIP Chachi thread, I wouldn't let any 1 single event that occurred on the internet define my opinion of a person (i'm not saying you all are either, but just in case). but then again, it is the internets, and about 98% of you have no idea who I am or whether I am just a figment of the intrawebz' imagination. so take that with a grain of salt. also, it means virtually nothing that I'm "vouching" for someone, but I felt like in this gang bang, i should play my part.

wait, was the bike paid for, or was there a lien that's being paid off? i'm guessing you owe at least a few grand on it based on the offer they made you. either way, the bike's buy back is $800... if you're sure that the frame, forks, swingarm, and engine are good, then you should prolly buy it back, dump a few hundred bucks into it and have a working bike that is paid off... but now has a salvage title. did you "barter" on the market value of the bike?

i'm sure neither will last very long in terms of miles. in terms of track days, they're definitely better at my pace than say... race tires or even "more sporty" tires. if you're wearing out the center, i'd consider a different tire... like the angel ST or some other sport touring tire. i doubt these will do better than like 4k miles, whereas sport touring tires might get you 8-10k? i dunno much about them. i do remember that my diablo stradas lasted quite a while... at least 5-6k.

so far i've only tried Pirelli corsa III and bstone bt016 on the track. on the street, i've tried (in addition to those) conti road attack, pilot power, and avon viper avs or something like that. All were great tires, i thought. some lasted longer than others though. not very helpful feedback, sorry lol. I'm buying these for the track bike since that seems to be the vast majority of my riding anymore, so I'm hoping these will grip as well as the bt016 and last longer (the 016s lasted 8 track days at whatever snails pace i'm running in intermediate). i also wanted to note that sportbike tire time has a branch called sportbike tire service and they sell pilot powers and 2ct's for pricing that's pretty darn close (as well as power ones and pures and slicks and motard tires). The PP's are $198 shipped and the 2ct's are $221 or something like that, so if you like those better, that is also damn cheap. Wish I knew where I could get Corsa III's for cheap again... last time i bought them, they had a thing where you buy a rear and get a front for free. It ended up being like $175 shipped for a set... pimptastic. I think it was a similar deal for metzelers and avons.
