  1. Thanks for the invite, unfortunately I'm working today. Plus I majorly suck at skiing, I'd like to become a little better at wakeboarding though. I need to get some new bindings for my board, my ex-wife threw out my bindings when I left her. When we go out to the lake we usually pull the tubes around, I have 4 or 5 different ones that everyone likes. We should definitely try to get the boats together sometime this summer. Is Chippewa a private lake or do the have a public ramp?
  2. Keep in mind, thatdude also has a boat, and us boaters need to split our time between boating and biking. When the weather's hot and sunny, boating usually wins out. With that said, I put about 2k on my bike last year, end of may through october. Thatdude, I know you live right by Chippewa Lake, do you ever travel to other lakes with your boat? I mainly hang out at West Branch State Park, I'm only 10 minutes from the ramp. Lately I've been having a hard time getting people to go boating, as most of my friends get older they seem to become more pussified about being beat up on the water.
  3. I agree State Farm has good rates, but Liberty Mutual will beat their rates. Give Al Veigel @ Liberty Mutual a call (330-704-9888). I switched to them last year and I am paying $1400 a year for my house, 2 new cars, a boat and my R6.
  4. Harding's is a decent dealership. I bought one of my ATV's off them a couple years back. They had some of the best prices at the time (the best prices come from Honda East, but I was being lazy and didn't feel like driving to Toledo that particular weekend, so I paid a couple hundred extra from Hardings). I can't speak for their service because I do all my own. If you honestly want the best price for a new bike talk to Scott @ Honda East Toledo. I've bought 2 bikes and an ATV from him, he;ll treat you right.

    had to do it...

I rode today too, its about 25 minutes for me from home to work. Today wasn't as bad as Tuesday morning though. It was 26 degrees tuesday when I left for work, by the time I got here I wanted to cry. My fingers were so frozen that they were burning. I agree though, another 10 degrees warmer would be ideal. When I watched the news last night they were saying the morning commute was going to be 37 degrees, F@#$ing LIARS.....
  6. That's a nice route. I've driven it many, many times, my in-laws have a cabin in Bergholz (the town right before Amsterdam) that we take our 4-wheelers to and trail ride. I haven't taken my bike down there yet, but I'm looking forward to it this year. There's some corners that'll sneak up on ya fast if your not careful, I came up on a group ride bike accident 2 years ago right as you come into Bergholz. It looked like the guy hit the corner too hard and ended up off road, unfortunately the guy had to be life-flighted out. It just so happened to be the same turn that I took too hot in my Mustang and spun out @ about 75 and ditched it. If you get hungry when you're riding through Bergholz, make a left on 2nd Street and eat at Marshall's. Good food at amazingly cheap prices, but they only take cash, no credit cards.
  7. Welcome. Nice Yamaha! I'm in the same boat as you, none of my friends ride either, so I mainly just ride by myself. I may head over to State 8 to look around after work today, its been a year or two since I've checked things out over there.
  8. I'm really just tossing around the idea of a new jacket. I currently have a like new Alpinestars TZ-1 leather jacket that I only wore a couple times when I had my Blue R6, but my new R6 is red so they don't look good together. I also have the Joe Rocket Rasp textile (red) that I wear now, but I don't really like how it fits. I really just want to walk around someplace and see things in person and try them on. Both of my jackets I have now were bought without actually seeing or trying on the product. I'm also contemplating another pair of gloves, I have some Alpinestars SMX4's, but I couldn't feel my damn fingers by the time I got to work this morning. I went to the website, the store looks very impressive. I wish we had something that big up around here. 125 miles just seems like such a long drive or ride just to look at some gear. I don't know, I'm thinking about it though. I hate riding highway long distance, but I could probably map out a nice scenic country route from Kent to Westerville.
  9. Are there any good places around the Akron area to shop for gear? I always read about people going to The Pony in Columbus, but do we have anyplace like that around here? The last time I was at State 8 their selection kinda sucked, I was not impressed. There's got to be someplace better with a good selection of things to try on. I'm thinking about buying a new jacket for this season. Any info you guys have would be much appreciated.
  10. I was a loyal State Farm customer for 16 years and I always thought their rates were the lowest. I had my cars (2), house, boat, motorcycle and life insurance through them until last year. I started shopping around due to an increase in my homeowners insurance and I got a quote from my local Liberty Mutual office and they beat the rates of every one of my policies I had with State Farm, saving me over $800 /yr. My 2007 R6 only costs me $172 /yr fully insured with 100k/300k limits. So when you're out getting quotes don't leave out Liberty Mutual, they might surprise you.
  11. Ok, I'll play.... me and the wife......
  12. what lake do you hang out at with your ski nautique? I can usually be found hangin out on West Branch when its hot out, that lake's 15 minutes from driveway to launch ramp.
  13. Scratch that, use code wkrk4 for $8 tickets.....
  14. Order them online and use discount code MOTOR3 for $10 tickets...
  15. Welcome to the site. I'm from the Kent area, so not too far from you.
  16. Hopefully I put this in the right section... Since I'm new here, I'd like to get to know a little bit about my fellow Ohio Riders, so....... how do you all like to spend your free time when you're not working? Any hobbies or activities that you enjoy? Any other toys that you like having some fun with? During the summer months when I'm not on the bike I spend part of my weekend out at the lake. I like to wakeboard (even though I suck) and tube. And the toy I can have fun on year round: Then of course my most favorite toy and what I spend the most time on:
  17. I don't know about the scoundrel part, but my ex-wife certainly thinks I'm a jerk and my parents do think I'm a hooligan for even owning a bike. However, since I now have a 2 1/2 yr. old son I do tend to be a lot more careful and try not to do stupid things while riding.
  18. Hey everyone, Just came across this site last week and thought I'd sign up and get to know some people around the area. I've been riding on and off for 5 years now, I started with a 04 R6 and now ride a 07 R6. I live in Brimfield (in between Kent & Ravenna) and I'm getting tired of riding alone. Anyways, just thought I'd say Hi here first, and I know everyone loves pics so here ya go...
