  1. Hi, I am a member here(Artmageddon) and I work at Fastsigns. The owner was more than happy to help out the group with the decals.

If anyone has any say in the sign buying decisions at their job, please check us out.

If you have any general sign concerns, please contact the store directly and work with one of the customer service reps.

    FOR MOTORCYCLE GRAPHICS!!!!

Please PM me and work with me direct. I am the graphic designer for the shop, and I will work you on a personal basis off the clock if you are looking for graphics for your bike. I know you want your bike to look good, and I will be able to devote more time to working on it on our free time. We ca figure out a good design, I'll create the artwork(most things would be free unless they are really complicated), and then you can purchase the graphics from Fastsigns.

Two things to keep in mind-

This will be cut vinyl, which means basic shapes and designs(one color or two flames or tribal will be about as complicated as it will get). It you are looking for something with full color graphics, you would be better to use a painter like Reimbrandt.

I WILL NOT reproduce logos that are not your company. Logos are copyrighted and as a designer, I count on these laws to protect my own work. If you need logos reproduced, you will need to go to an authorized reseller such as the dealer.

PM if you have any questions. Thanks!

  2. I did freelance photography for several years and I had big long message about this, but I hit back and lost it so fuck it.

Basically it said the photographer is a tool, not because of his business model, but because of his attitude. Anyone that has to mention he got an MBA in every conversation is a douche. That doesn't impress me, good photos do if you are a photographer.

His model is similiar to a wedding photographer, you agree to pay for what you get no matter what. Do I agree with it in this situation, no. He should probably go with the amusement park route, take a bunch pics, display them, and people will buy them.

Not too many people hire a photographer ahead of time, just in case they do something cool. The only people that do shit like that are those skanks from "The Hills" or something.

I haven't looked at his photos so I can't judge his work. My impression is that he thinks he is way better than he is, and overcharges. The OP had every right to negotiate, but at the same time the photographer has his right not to budge.

About anyone being able to take good pictures, well, that is wrong. Sure, buying a good digital camera will help you get some good snapshots, but that doesn't make you a pro. It's the same as if you soup an Acura; that doesn't make yo ready for NASCAR.

While the photos are good, there are many technical things that I see can be improved. I'm not a sports photographer, but there are also techniques like panning, etc., that would really make the images pop. Not saying only a pro can do this, but they are more like to know how and get better results.

Good gear can produce great images, but know how is way more important. Saying that anyone can be a photographer just because they have an SLR is like saying anyone can be a mechanic just because they have a ton of tools.

  3. My helmet always has a STAR under it. :D

Is this the star under your helmet? :)

    butthole.jpg

I'm curious to see how many people know what this is.

BTW, Nice gear, I'm not usually one for a bunch of graphics on helmets, but I like that one. I think part of the fun of owning a motorcycle is all the goodies that come along with it.

  4. allright, I'll put it this way, if you covered a road course with snow...and we all took turns driving the course in different vehicles, I'm confident that MY best time in a RWD Muscle car would be better than My best time in a FWD or 4WD. Although your trends might be different, I know my confidence level, and skill set where I'm best at slinging snow in a RWD...

I believe you, but I have my chain and hitch if you get stuck. :)

  5. I drove a V8 mustang in the snow Level 2 many times. Had to go WAY slower than a front wheel drive and way way slower than a 4 wheel drive. I'll put my money on out driving anyone in the snow or being just as good, but to say rear is best is ignorant. :nono:

    + 1

I grew up learning to drive in the snow in Eastern Ohio/ WV Panhandle, where there are roads in the hills that make your butthole pucker at times. I have great faith in my snow driving skills, but I'll take 4WD over rear wheel every time.

  6. I don't think a 4WD is necessary, but it is helpful. Most of our snows are pretty light,

and when it does really come down, generally we don't have to drive as much.

MY last 4 cages were a Toyota pickup 4x4, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Mustang GT, and I currently have a Ranger 4x4.

The Toyota was a beater, so I had fun in the snow with that, The Wrangler was awesome in the snow, I drove from Wheeling to Columbus when we had the blizzard 8-9 years ago, it was me and semis on the road, everyone else was in ditches. I had oversized all terrain tires on both.

The Mustang was horrible, that much power on a rear wheel drive just didn't work for me.

The Ranger is a beast. I have over-sized Firestone Destination A/T tires on it, and they are awesome. There have been times that I have tried to spin and play in it, and traction was so good in 4WD I couldn't unless I really crank on it. I don't even bother putting weight in the bed.

  7. I got my wife her own bike so she'd stay off the back of mine.

I thought about getting my wife one, but she can barely handle walking down stairs. She would scare the shit of me and everyone else on a bike.

I let her go pick out some gear, but my bike isn't bad two-up, wouldn't do it it for more than an hour at a time though.

  8. also have 1/4 and 3/8 torque wrenches from *harbor freight* but the only things i ever torque is if i'm working on any engine parts. BTW if anyone wants to bitch about me having HF TW's, keep in mind I use them like twice a year and can't justify $300 for a snap on TW.

    .

My torque wrench is a harbor freight click style, works just fine for how often I use it. Think I paid 15 bucks for it.

  9. I prefer hex sockets over keys or T handles. That way I can use them with a torque wrench. Generally, I don't touch anything on my bike(s) without torque wrenches (ft/lbs & in/lbs) and a factory service manual.

Surprisingly, Husky (Home Depot) makes really good hex and torx sockets.

    +1

Torque wrenches are your friend. Get one before you learn the hard way and snap a few bolts. Extractors, while useful when needed, are the enemy. :)

  10. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to run 7 applications at once on a Windows machine. Well' date=' maybe some things are more frustrating but I can't think of any at this moment.[/quote']

On my work PC, I always have Photoshop, Illustrator, Omega(a specific design program, Onyx( a very memory hungry RIP program), an internal email program, and Firefox running and never have problems.

My first generation G5 takes 10 minutes to to open a 300 meg tif when Photoshop is the only thing running. Ridiculous.

I build all of my own PCs and know how to set them up as power machines, so that may have something to do with it. When I go to my boss and tell him a new machine is needed, it is a much easier sell to to get a faster machine at half the cost.

I don't hate Macs, just like PC's better. I do hate iPods though....

  11. I always love how Mac haters are ALWAYS Windows people. Irony.

I have both and I turn my Mac on about once every 3 months.

I am designer that is supposed to love Macs, I just find them to be slow and overpriced machines.

I tend to think of Macs as more as a status thing nowadays.

I bet I just really hijacked this thread now. :)

  12. Tool wise, I would get a great set of hex wrenches. Get the best you possibly you can, I've got some cheap ones that consistently strip. I've been meaning to get a good set but always forget when I'm out. I know my father in law has a good set of the Craftsman T handles that he uses on his bike a lot, so I think they are pretty good.

A good torque wrench is always handy as well.
