If he is 12 a single shot .22lr might be good to train with also? Just a thought. I started my oldest out at age 8 on a rossi single shot 22/20ga combo. He has been shooting for two years now and is a very good shot.

For the xd I would say the top three pics on this forum seem to be the comp-tac, the k holster and the crossbreed. I use the crossbreed supertuck for summer carry iwb with my xd9sc. Like it alot. I also have a small pocket .380 for summer carry as well.
