  1. I'd appreciate that. Even if I don't go this weekend I plan on hitting it as soon as the weather's nice.
  2. I'm thinking about going to Atwood, Tappan, and Wheeling/534 this weekend with my Dad if the weather is good enough for him to ride his Harley in from VA. How twisty are the roads by Atwood? From a map they just looked like some nice scenic sweepers. Plan was to just loop around the lake on 542. any specific roads I should keep in mind?
  3. State Farm insures my FZ6 for like $45/mo w/ a $1k deductible. I'm 23, 2 point speeding ticket, and use State Farm for 2 cars, 2 bikes, and renter's insurance.
  4. I think I was the one who referred you to honda east. All of their leftover bikes are ridiculously cheap. I'd still recommend the FZ6 =) Gladius...eh. Not a fan.
  5. Try to hash out the details asap and the ride should go smoother. If you go for the power ranger style we'll have to make sure to break everyone into groups based on their riding limits/style. I'm game for some twisties bit I'm still not looking to exceed posted limits by much. I've gotten alot more comfortable in the twisties since the last ride. The CVNP area still has pretty crappy road conditions though. If we do that area I can show you a pretty awesome (but short) set of twisting in the brecksville park area between 21 and Riverview. I was there today and some guy on a Suzuki was hitting them pretty hard. It's even fun to ride at around 40mph (limit is 30). Just have to be careful because on nice days theres alot of pedestrians around enjoying the park that could potentially make a phone call to Brecksville's finest or the park rangers if you're pushin it too hard.
  6. I might join in, now that I have a better idea what to expect.
  7. It really depends on the sportbike. I spent my first season learnin on my GS500F. The longest I ever rode it at once was 1.5 hours, and I was hurting pretty bad. Consequently I only put less than 1500 miles on it that season. After selling it, I was able to drive out to Toledo, buy my FZ6, and ride it back in 40 degree weather for over 160 miles and about 2 hours. Since then I've taken 3 hour rides (backroads) and not had any problem with my back, just a sore butt from the stock seat.

    had to do it...

I've found that I can ride to work as long as it's in the 30's and isn't too windy. Things I make sure to wear: Thermal Underwear (atleast pants, preferably shirt too) Extra par of heavy duty water-wicking work socks Hoody Baclava/Fleece Neckguard ($20 @ State8) Windbreaker Riding Jacket Fleece Glove Liners Riding Gloves Full Face Helmet FroggTogg Rainsuit if its raining My fingers still get pretty cold after the 25min ride to work. I just ordered these to fix that though: TPro Tornado Windproof Glove Liners Cortech Scarab Winter Gloves PowerMadd Star Series Universal Hand Guards After I get those I'll be able to ready in any weather as long as it's not snowy.
  9. Honda East in Toledo. It was about a 2 hour ride for me but totally worth it. Love this bike. Either call and ask for Scott Johnson or email: internetsales@hondaeasttoledo.com and ask about any leftover 2008's. They buy alot of leftover bikes so if theres something else you're looking for don't be afraid to ask. I got my FZ6 for $5875 OTD. I wasn't even at the dealership for more than 45 minutes. Walked in, saw the bike, paid, got the plates, bought a tank bag, and left.
  10. If you want cheap insurance, go for the FZ6 (not fully faired)! I can tell you where you can get a sick deal on a leftover '08 if they have any left! My 2008 FZ6 costs the same to insure as my 2007 GS500F.
  11. It's been "warm" for a month now, what are you talkin about? I've already put 710 miles on my FZ6 and 100 on my Maxim.
  12. Thanks for the tips, but I did take the MSF course. I know these things, and yes, they do help a TON.
  13. Buy it! Worst case you hold onto it for 2 months and sell it for what you paid or more haha.
  14. Ah don't worry man, it's not like that. Honestly I think it's just a matter of style difference. I bought my FZ6 because I wanted a comfortable bike to cruise on, because I don't quite feel at home on a Harley. My lack of experience aside, I'll never be the type to enjoy "aggressive" riding. I very rarely exceed the speed limit by more than 5-10mph and never for extended periods of time, just short bursts. I'm not in a position to be getting a ticket. I already have my deductible pumped up to $1000 to reduce my insurance premium, and I'd have a hard time justifying the cost if I ended up getting a serious speeding ticket or two. Not to mention I don't want to do anything to increase the chance of me wrecking my bike and getting hurt. If I wanted to ride aggressively I would have bought a R6. In the future I'll just make sure that I come to rides that have a few other people that share my riding style. All of the drama aside I did learn quite a bit from Sunday, which was my first group ride. Mainly that pre-ride communication is key. Secondly, and most importantly, I got a serious lesson on staying in my comfort zone. No one saw it, but I came in hot on the last corner in front of the church. I had to stand the bike up and lay on the brakes to avoid the huge black truck approaching the stop sign. It wasn't CLOSE but enough to put some sense into my head and remind me not to be an idiot.
  15. Maybe I do need to join a HD forum lol. Insurance is to ridiculous to justify riding over the speed limit by more than a few mph. Not to mention my deductible is $1000. Just not worth the risk of a ticket/wreck.
  16. There were 7 of us. I don't really know most of their screen names. Jbot MC_Spirited MC_S's friend on 650R A kid from CORE on a R6 A guy with a 919 Lost1888 Myself
  17. You all seemed like pretty cool people. It was nice meeting you. Just seemed to be a little high paced for me. I had to push it a bit just to keep you guys in eye sight at times lol.
  18. That's a bad ass price. Good luck with the sale.
  19. Welcome, always nice to see some more Cleveland Locals.
  20. My name is Justin. Anytime you wanna come down and scout the area out let me know. I have a pretty good idea of the area so at the very least I won't be getting lost. The main concern with these roads is just the condition. Theres always alot of debris and a fair amount of potholes.

  21. I'm leaving at about the same time, I might be there a minute or two early.
