  1. Like a previous poster said, check out leftover bikes from past model years. I got my '08 FZ6 new in March of '09 for about $5400. It was $5975 OTD. MSRP is $7k. Most used FZ6's at the time were going for over $5k on craigslist. Keep an eye on Honda East in Toledo's website. The one internet guy Scott is awesome. He'll give you an OTD price over email. I drove out there, took 45 minutes to look at the bike, hand them cash, and sign some paperwork, and rode home. I couldn't be happier.
  2. I've got a 1982 Yamaha Maxim I was about to put up for sale. Haven't got any pictures or anything. I bought it for $1200 in November, but then ended up buying my new '08 FZ6 in March, so I barely rode it. My Dad flew in from VA and we rode down to Atwood. 175 miles and he loved the bike (he's a HD guy, so he's not used to a standard inline 4 type bike). I took it to work the other day and rode it around a bit. No problems. Even though it's an inline 4, it feels more like a v-twin or something because it only revs to 9.5k. It's not nearly as fast as my FZ6. I think it has lik 60hp or so in peak condition. It'll prolly need a new rear tire after 1-2k miles. Front one is brand new. Could use some time invested into it tightening/adjusting a few things like the rear brake pedal, clutch/brakes levers, shifter. Carbs are on the verge of needing cleaned but it runs great. You have to leave the choke on just a little bit to keep it idling. Might be able to fix it just by using some seafoam or something. Sounds mean, has some sort of shortned exhaust on it. I have a front fairing for it too, but it's not on right now. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try and dig up some more details. I'm the third owner. The first owner bought it new in early 1982 and rode it regularly until 2004 or so. Took it to the yamaha dealer for services on schedule, but I don't have the records. He let it sit for 3 years and then gave it to his nephew, who I knew through some friends. He fixed everything that needed attention after sitting and put like 4k miles on it. Then he sold it to me. It has just under 24k miles on it.

    Monday 7/6

I took Monday off for a long weekend and thought I'd take a ride since the weather looks pretty good. I was thinking about heading down to the tappan area. Maybe 250 > 22 > 800. I took that ride before and it was a good mix of scenic and twisties. 22 was pretty fun. If theres anyone else who is free Monday, PM me, would be cool to have one or two other people to ride with incase anything goes wrong. I would probably plan to leave the Stow/CFalls area around 10am or so. I have to run to the BMV, post office, and pharmacy quick, but that shouldn't take long.
  4. I got a credit card as soon as I turned 18. It had a $300 limit and a horrible APR, but I made sure to use it and pay it off at the end of the month. Now, 5 years later, it has a $12,300 credit limit with a 11% APR. I've used it to spend over $63,000, so that's like $12-13k per year, mostly just daily expenses like groceries, gas, and food. Now I also get cash back on that too, I think it's like 0.8% cash back, so I get $8 back for every grand I spend. Doing this also got my credit score high enough to qualify for an $8000 credit line with a 6-8% interest rate depending on the balance. At any time I can transfer money from the line to my checking with no fees, same as cash. Credit cards are great until you abuse them.
  5. I drive under that bridge every day on my way to work and back =) Nice pictures.

    Atwood 6/27

The sun and I are mortal enemies haha. I sweat like a freakin banshee. Besides, can't be drinking and riding with my girl on the back, I might scratch my bike!

    Atwood 6/27

We're just headed down there to pick up some wine. It's not even really a winery, but more a wine bar. They don't grow their grapes and make their wine in the same place they sell it. I doubt we'll be at Al-Bi for more than 20-30 minutes.

We're always up for meeting new people. Either way, it is what it is.

    Atwood 6/27

I'm planning on heading down to Atwood lake from the Stow/Akron area on Saturday with my fiance. It'll be a non-agressive ride, my girl wants to go to the Al-Bi winery so we can pick up a few bottles. Not really intended to be a group ride, but if anyone is bored and wants an excuse to ride, we can meet up at Bolivar/77. It's her first "bike trip" out of the local area, so we won't be adhering to any strict schedule. The plan is to leave our apartment by 10am, aiming to get off 77 in Bolivar and take a break around 10:45am. If anyone wants to join, PM me your number and I can call/text you when we leave Stow. Depending on her (bike)riding stamina, the plan is to come back up 542 to 183 to 800, and then hop back on 77. That may change though.
  11. Welcome to the site! I'm from the area also.
  12. I've bought 5 cars and 3 bikes. The only one I financed was my first non-beater daily driver. As far as bikes go, if you have to finance it through an actual auto loan, I'd say it's definitely a no go. I've recently picked up an 8 grand line of credit with 6-8% interest rate. Assuming I felt like I could afford a new bike, I would be comfortable using the credit line to pay for around 30% or less of the total cost.
  13. Atleast you can use protection with hookers. The surgeon general does not recommend the use of a condom to filter tobacco.
  14. Well, I'll probably have my girl with me, so I won't be able to participate in any activities that would risk transfer of..."things I don't want that are had by hot chicks"... I'm hoping getting there early will get me a seat for some food. I doubt I'll stay too long, I'm usually pretty tired after work. My normal routine involves food, hookah, and a nap.

    4/29 QSL in VV

Wednesday is the first Bike Nite of the season. If the weather holds up I plan on going, it'll be my first time at QSL or a Bike Nite. I'm hoping the wings live up to the reputation. What about the Bike Nite? What should I expect? I work nearby so I'll probably be there way early, around 5pm. Plan on getting some grub as soon as I get there though. Anyone else planning on going?
  16. On a side note I'm up to 1566 miles in the 37 days I've owned the bike =) That averages out to 42 miles a day. I love this bike.
  17. Since the weather was so nice today, I took the day off to go for a ride. I took 77S and took 800, 22, 250, 151, 164, 39 and 212 back to 77. 270 miles in 6 hours start to finish. An hour of that was break/food/gas etc. I was pretty surprised with the pace I kept. 164 is a fun road, that's for sure. Good condition too except for two consecutive corners with gravel which caused my back wheel to get loose even though I let off the gas and straightened the bike up. Other than that it was a great ride. Definitely made me realize that the stock seat w/ a pro-pad just is not enough for 200+ mile rides. My ass is quite sore. Managed to get some pictures along the way too:
  18. Between my nylon liners, Cortech Winter Gauntlets, and my PowerMadd handguards, my digits were just fine =)
  19. I fit the following in my tankbag without having to unzip the expansion zipper: 1. Business Statistics Textbook (BIG!) 2. Folder 3. Notebook 4. Workshoes 5. Set of light gloves for this evening 6. Monster 7. Granola Bar 8. Fruit Cup 9. Pills (Yay ADHD!) 10. Pack of Gum 11. Kitchen Sink The fog wasn't bad anywhere but Penninsula. As soon as I got into Brecksville it cleared up. Just the valley area along Riverview mainly.
  20. I rode in this morning. The cold wasn't the problem. Riding through Penninsula the fog was solid thick. I had to ride with my visor up because the condensation was so thick that both sides would fog up. Even with my visor up I still couldn't see more than 15 feet in front of me.
  21. I think I'm gonna do a solo run down 800 and into the Tappan area on Friday, so I dunno that I'm gonna be up for riding on Saturday. If that changes I might join you guys.
