  1. Thanks all for the replies - we found an '01 GS for her last Fri and it's signed, sealed and delivered. She is pumped and today we are going to get started with her first day of riding! I just wish I could remember to tell her everything she needs to know - lol. She is already signed up for the state MSF course but a little head start won't hurt. I'll see how much of my 41 years of riding can be translated. Prob not much. Thanks everyone! John
  2. Well I think it's WAY overdue. A slight mod to your exhaust? Fine. But to have it so loud as to harm hearing or wake people up is illegal. I live in the Portage Lakes and the damn HD's that run around here is criminal and I do wish for one time the cops would do something about it. No matter if it's an old truck, a bike or a tuner car. Just do it.
  3. Bad - Thanks for the links, the first and last are under consideration. In the process of checking them out. John
  4. I'm looking for a cheap starter bike for my youngest. A GS500, Ninja500 - something around 450 to 500 cc. She only has $1000 but I could kick in some if the bike is a good runner. Of course a few dents/dings/scratches would be fine and around 400 lbs. I'm in the Akron area but willing to travel a bit for the right one. Thanks, John
  5. Wow, some common sense from an ins co.
  6. Go the the US DOT site to look up the code for the date of manufacturer. Prob an old tire when you bought it.
  7. My 23 yo daughter is wanting to learn too. She's signed up for the MSF but it's not till the end of Aug. I'm looking for a GS500 for her now.
  8. Why even want to use your own when there's a good chance of it being dropped? Have fun at the class!
  9. If it's that stretched out pay close attention to the sprockets too - 'specially the rear one.
  10. Thanks for the info. A new phone and comm sys is in the works for me.

    Soft or Hard

Hard integrated bags if you like them waterproof and secure. Soft ones to tend to look best on sport bikes though.
  12. The British standard just may be the best of all.
  13. It's nice to have hanging in the shop for "shop talk".
