So i dont have the cash to drop on a great pair of riding boots, so i just wear my work boots, they are a typical pair of black Rocky boots. Now besides the obvious of the riding boots being more protective, with the work boots is it considered an in between protection - a step up from tennis shoes but not as good as purpose built riding boots? Or is it sufficient enough to ride with work boots all the time? i dont want to end up like the aforementioned picture <-- no relevance just wanted to use this
Welcome, bout time you got on here! Once my seat is back from www.greatdaytoride.com we will go for a ride soon, maybe some OR on here in the mansfield area want to get together for a ride on a sat or sun in the coming weeks?
home defense = shotgun. Unless you have enough practice with a handgun even if it is a monster like a .357 or a smaller .380 and everything in between you will be lucky to hit what you are aiming at during any high stress encounter if you are anything 10+ feet. Sound goofy but trust me that's how it works. With a shotgun you can rely on the spread of the double .00 buck shot. but then again you could be like me and have an AR15, a .40 and a 9mm ready at hand (i shoot very frequently and have been specially trained) - for your home defense. If you are concerned about your woman or anyone else getting to your gun that is chambered (a. never have a gun that is loaded without it being chambered....if its not chambered, whats the f'ing point? haha) they make nice lock boxes (check out GunVault) that with a few button pushes of a combo the door will unlock and your gun will be there or locked up or ready at hand within less than a second. Just my .02. Good luck with your search for what works for you!
Congrats on your purchase! I bought an 01 bandit last summer just for kicks and it had about 38k miles on it, ya i rode it through west virginia after getting lost on gravel roads down there (never again will i go to west va) it held up pretty well. after needing to rejet the carbs, and multiple other issues it got sold about a month after purchase and i got the 650r, fuel injection and zero maintenance is awesome! haha
I have the 08 650r and i love it on long rides, its not a supersport, but it has decent pick up and nice torque. 4k for that sounds like a really good deal, has it been wrecked? +1 for the 650r and distance rides and it still maintains a supersport look if thats what you want
Two to the chest and it won't matter if its a 9mm or a .40. IMO (i have a 9mm XD, .40 sig, and a Ruger .380, .40 Glock 27; my fav to shoot is the XD:D) P.S. you cant go wrong with an XD +1 for you, congrats on the new purchase!!!
