  1. Got the windscreen today. I guess they sent me a V-Flow and the old one was a classic. Still trying to get used to the V-Flow look and not sure I will stay with it. May spray the section that is rubbed off with black spraypaint or may sand the finish off the old one and paint it black. Not too sure of the looks of V-Flow on the CBR. Could just be me getting used to the look. Anyone with a V-Flow have any comments on how it is to ride with this windscreen? Been drinking tonight and will not ride until tomorrow morning. Does it provide less buffeting? Thanks
  2. Thanks! Been combing through the forums but not finding many concrete fixes. And the search is not so good, or I am not good at searching.
  3. Thanks for all the help guys. I have heard about the rectifier/regulator but thought I heard somewhere that it was fixed on the 04s. No power commander. Bike is stock other than a few cosmetic add-ons. Hope its not the stator so will probably replace the battery this weekend. Anybody have suggestions on the best place to get a battery around the east side of Columbus? I think Batteries plus has them in stock and one store is close. Any other ideas? Thanks again for all the help.
  4. First of all, the bike is a 2004 CBR600RR with 5500 miles. Bought used recently. Only been down once, me at a stop light. 0 mph and a scrap on the clutch cover. Having an issue and looking to see if anyone has had this problem before. If I am out riding for 30 minutes or longer and the bike is warm (over 200 degrees) I get some hesitation or surging when I whack the throttle all the way open. It doesn't happen at 80% throttle, only wide open. On Friday I rode from downtown Columbus, OH up riverside (stop and go) for 30 minutes and ate lunch. On the way up I was running my high beams and the last couple of miles of the trip it would fall on its face at full throttle, then surge forward, then fall on its face again. On the way back to work, using the same route with my highbeam off it didn't do it at all. It has done this with a nearly empty tank and a full tank. There appears to be some scaling in the tank, but this only occurs when the bike is hot and I get no warning lights (FI etc) when it happens. I checked the battery at autozone and it registered 12.5V under load and it registered the CCA as 1800. That indicated to me that perhaps there was a problem with a cell. I replaced the original battery this weekend with a new Yuasa and it still happened. This time is was at less than full throttle and once I pulled off to check it the idle was swinging between 1000 and 2000. I shut it off for less than 10 minutes and it didn't happen again during the next hour of riding. I put Techron in the tank and ran the crap out of it as I have been commuting with the bike. It as never exceeded 228 degrees while riding and this only happens when it is over 200 degrees. In cooler weather or at night this never happens. The intermittent nature of this seems to indicate to me that some sensor is having an issue. I hope its not TPS. Could it be the MAP sensor? Sorry for the long post. Any ideas?
  5. Thanks for the tip. I called Sportech and sent them the pictures and they are going to send me a new one for $25. Shipping and materials I guess. Props to them for helping me out as I bought the bike used and this windscreen was already on it. Probably purchased in 04 or 05.
  6. AWW shucks. Thanks for the compliment. Don't think I am that good considering that the top Spec Miata guys are running 1:45s at least. However, my car is 200 pounds heavier and I am , ahem, heavier by 40 plus pounds. My miata is like a Ninja 250, the perfect track vehicle. I am a firm believer in learning on a vehicle with no power as you will learn to rail corners like nothing you can imagine. My miata hits 110 +/- 3 mph on the back straight but doesn't have to slow much below 75 to take turn 6 at the end of the back straight. It is a ton of fun and since I am just getting back into bikes as well (understanding wife) I may have to take the 600rr to a track day just to learn how to be a better rider. Funny thing is my car makes less than 116 HP and weighs 2465 with me in it an fuel. The 2004 cbr600rr is supposedly over 100 hp at the rear wheel and weighs much less. Intense.
  7. I am surprised by the times. I turn 1:48 up there in my 1991 miata which is almost a spec miata (just need the cage and to strip about 100 pounds out.) If anyone wants to check out some more car racing there, NASA runs great events there and there are no hassles entering as a spectator. Also, as a bonus it is FREE to all to spectate. You will see some great racing and driving. I ran a full schedule last season but am only running a limited season this year. If I am there I can give anyone a ride, all you need is a snell rated helmet past 1995.

  12. This is on my 2004 CBR600RR that I bought recently. I have no experience with these windscreens and the bike came with this one. I have attached pictures. Anyone have experience with this phenomenon and know how to fix it? I hear sportech has a good reputation, but I am thinking I should just find a sticker that works to cover this up..
  13. Tried the adjustment and took the boots back anyway. Got a set of alpinestar SMX-2 and LOVE them. Much better, and much easier to get around than with the Joe Rocket boots. Thanks guys.
  14. OK. Looks like I will try to exchange them tomorrow at pony. Thanks guys.
  15. Ok, I bought a set of Joe Rocket Big Bang boots and I ride a 2004 CBR600RR. I wear a size 11 and I just cannot seem to get used to the size of these boots. They are catching the pegs when I move my foot around and I have to do that frequently as they seem a little too tall and I am riding like a complete newbie on this bike. Maybe its me? Anybody else have experience with these or any other boot that would work well? I am assuming that I cannot adjust the shifter (didn't get a manual with the bike.) Sorry for the newb question its just that I have not ridden in many years and am actually trying to get some decent protective gear this time. The Big Bang boots seem like they offer decent protection for the money and they don't look horribe. Maybe they just need more break-in time? Thanks
  16. I don't necessarily consider myself an old man at 34 years old, but I am definitely heading that way. I hope I don't look foolish but really don't care too much as I am having a blast!
  17. Hey guys. Just picked up a 2004 cbr600rr. Haven't ridden in a 10+ years and feel completey out of rhythm right now. Will continue to work it out I am sure. Pics of the bike here: http://picasaweb.google.com/matt.montes/Cbr600rr#
