Thanks. Thought about coating it but got a decent deal on a used tank and pump. I plan to try to clean the tank and coat with something once I find the best product for it. I also plan on cleaning the pump and screen and having a spare or selling both. This just sucks cause the bike runs ok except for an occasional heistation/surging issue once hot. I look forward to getting this fixed an continue to put miles on.

Tank and pump. Looks like you can get that price by buying separately as well.
-
Think I found one shipped for around $200. Sure as hell beats the new price. Looks like 2003 to 2005 use the same tank and pump at least according to www.ronayers.com. Hopefully that is correct.
-
I bought it used. I think the original owner was military and perhaps left it sit without a full tank. Off to ebay to find a tank/pump combo.
-
Ok, this sucks and I think it is the problem with my hesitation/surging. Should i replace the pump as well?
-
Update! I am still having the issue and am now looking at replacing the tank. The bike is an 04 and only had 4900 miles on it so I believe that it sat around a good bit. Here are the pictures. The question I have is do you think I should also replace the pump? It seems to be working fine and I would certainly clean it up and the screen before installing it in another tank.

Sorry for the confusion, I don't have any extras. Another person in this thread or the other thread on these picked up some extras and is selling them for $21 a piece. You can check them out at http://www.oncycles.com/. I believe they charge $20 for shipping but if you are near the east side of columbus they are located right outside of the 270 loop off of broad street.

Anybody want to trade a sportech classic for a brand new V-flow black chrome for a 2003 or 2004 cbr600rr? Looking for smoke or black chrome. The V-Flow is brand new. Will sell it separately if needed but would like a trade.

Front only. It is a pretty nice stand and an outstanding stand for $20.

Sorry for your loss. I have two golden retrievers. Senna and Enzo (the lighter one with less hair.) http://picasaweb.google.com/matt.montes/Dogs#

If you would point me in the direction of a place to download the service manual I would appreciate it. Also, if you happen to know a place to download the owners manual as well that would be great.

Mine sits at 1300-1500. What should the idle be? Bike doesn't stall or anything just wondered if it should be higher? Have other issues just checking on what it should be as I have no owners manual and haven't ridden since my 1990 GSXR-750.

Welcome. I am also in Pataskala and ride a 2004 cbr600rr. Let me know if you want to ride. I am located on Taylor Rd. Unfortunately my weekdays are full with work until the evenings but am open most weekends.

No issues today. Bike did get above 200 degrees multiple times and had the fan kick on multiple times during the ride. Never had the issue. This sucks.
-
Well. I have reverted back to my old clasic. Added some new window sealing foam for right now and will put the v-flow up for sale cheap. Just can't get used to the look.

Thanks! Searching there as well along with cbrforum.

No MILs or anything flashing. Nothing at all. Kind of wish it would cause it would be easier to troubleshoot. Put a whole bottle of techcron in the tank and ran it pretty hard coming home. Have a full tank of gas and this has happened on a low tank and a full tank. Will hammer it a little on the way to work tomorrow and see what happens. It will definitely get above 200 degrees on my way to work. Commute normally takes 30 plus minutes, but it hasn't happened during the commute yet. Thanks guys. Still running through the list of crap it could be. Would like to start eliminating items instead of adding to the list...

Fan kicks on at 220 like it is supposed to. Every time this has happened the bike has been over 200. Highest it has ever gone for me is 227 in stop and go on broad street at rush hour. Get it rolling over 50mph for a bit and the temp comes down. Might flush the coolant this summer but unless I go straight water and water wetter the temps are not going to come down.
-
Yes it has to be fuel or spark. However, when it happens sporadically I tend to lean towards a sensor that would cause issues like the TPS. Just took the bike back out and no issues at all. This happens when the bike is hot and running at lower speeds <50 mph. I am just kinda thinking out loud on this as it happens infrequently. The idle weirdness that occurred once I had the issue today is something I haven't experienced before and makes me think that some sensor involved in the idle and throttle position is related to this somehow.
-
One more thing to add. When it started missing/hesitating today I pulled into the Kroger and the idle was fluxuating between 1000-1500 rpms. Maybe points towards TPS or MAP? Just remembered and wanted to add in case it helps.

Bike has 5500 miles on it and runs great except for when it is hot and I am running in stop and go traffic. Then only sometimes does it do this. I think it needs have the crap run out of it as I have been commuting with it for a couple weeks now and going slow. Not enough time above 12k rpm. The plugs should be original but I will definitely check them. The can is a Leo Vince slip on. This bike appears to have a competition werkes fender eliminator, and some aftermarket turn signals. Is the stock tailight on a 2004 clear with red lights? That may be aftermarket, along with the slip on but otherwise the bike appears to be very stock.

Ok looks like the battery didn't fix it. Put 70 miles on today and only happened once on Taylor Rd on the east side of town. 45 mph speed limit and running a constant speed. Hit the throttle a little bit and it stuttered again. Pulled into the Kroger on Taylor and Main and sat for a few minutes. Fired it back up and it didn't happen again. Hate these kinds of issues. Looks like I needed the battery anyway and this time it took longer to happen. It also didn't take full throttle to make it happen. Will look at the plugs soon and will be dumping some fuel system clearner through it and then running the crap out of it. Have been taking Broad Street to downtown as my way to work. Maybe it needs to be run harder??
-
Yep. Actually the bike has never cut out and idled smooth when warm etc. Only issue was WOT and, it seems, high beams while hot. Bike actually has run well except for this issue, and i am surprised considering that state of the battery. Here's to hoping that the battery was it. The service manual I downloaded says anything below 12.4 is no beuno so I went ahead and bought the battery today. I will update this thread if this issue comes back. I mean, it's a honda right? Shouldn't have any issues with only 5000 miles on it. Especially since the 2 previous POs didn't butcher the thing. Thanks again guys. This forum is a great help to someone who hasn't ridden since a 1990 GSXR 750.

Blasphemy!!! Took the battery to autozone today and it tested bad. Actually tested at 12.5 volts but cold cranking amps were listed as like 1700+. Since the battery is 5 years old I just went ahead and replaced it. Went out and ran it fairly hard today and got it warm and never saw the problem. Here's hoping that was it. Thanks again for all the help everyone. Thanks for the links WhoDey.
