  1. I had a cbr250r that I rode for about 9,000 miles, mostly commuting.  It was a fun bike & I did ride some twisties on it.  My main complaint was that if you got stuck behind a slow car in the double yellows you were pretty much stuck behind that slow car until it turned off or you turned off. IMO it's more fun to ride a fast bike fast than a slow bike fast.  The small bikes are great teachers for taking a good line & keeping up your momentum though.

  2. I lane split when necessary but that isn't that often because we don't have the traffic problems that the west coast has.  It would be nice if it were legal but we're still working on getting them to legalize ear plugs while riding, lol  The illegality of it is not really much of an issue imo:  1. Cops usually stay away from clogged highways except when there's a wreck.   2.  We don't have many motorcycle cops & any cop in a car in a traffic jam is probably going to be helpless to give chase as you can't split lanes in a car & if they decide to go John Wayne & run the berm they can't get across several lanes of backed up traffic in a hurry like a bike, even with the flashy lights. 3. If you are not squidding it when you split most cops are not going to bother with the hassle of even trying to pull you over. There are other threads on here that discuss this issue until you get sick of reading them. Welcome to Ohio Fin.

  3. On the way home tonight some do gooder saw fit to take both hands off the wheel, putting up 2 fingers with the left hand & 5 fingers with the right to indicate the posted speed limit since I was catching up to him.  In doing so he neglected to put his turn signal on for the left turn that he was about to make.  I was making the same left (signal on) & assumed he was stopping to chat with me so was in the process of passing him & turning left when he turned left & I had to tromp it to keep him from turning into me. Sick of do gooders & weenie assed drivers.

  4. My Honda calls for 91 minimum octane.  My Kaw calls for 90 minimum octane.  My VW was just tuned for 93 octane (& has more HP per liter displacement than my CBR1000RR had from the factory.)   I think the whole point of the OP was that higher levels of detergent additives are beneficial and the "top tier" website lists the brands that have higher levels of detergent additives.

  5. All I know is that if you are using Getgo gas & your vehicle starts running sluggishly that a tank of Shell V-Power or similar Top Tier gas has a good chance of restoring performance.  My firsthand experience with this will not allow me to believe that Getgo gas (at least in the Cleveland area) is not crap.  If you can use it without problems that's great.

  6. Not in my experience.  It is a silly law though. Almost as silly as the once proposed Ohio law to require seatbelts on motorcycles. Only time I ever got a speeding ticket on a bike I was riding my cbr250r.

Are you balancing your wheels too?

Yes.  Put the axle in & support in v-grooved plywood stand. (Do this with the rotor(s) on & the grit seals removed.) Spin the wheel & see where it stops.  Temporarily attach weight(s) with painters tape. Spin & repeat as necessary until the wheel stops at random points.  I use about a dozen small pieces of painters tape to mark the high point where the wheel stops.  When I'm done the pieces of tape are randomly positioned at points all around the wheel. Permanently attach the wheel weights in the same positions they are taped on.  I have tested this method to 180 mph without problems.   Then, you could just use Dyna Beads.
