Higher octane fuels do in fact burn slower after ignition. They also have a tendency to be more stable under higher heat conditions, hence the added resistance to pre-ignition. You are correct in saying that the octane rating is a measure of the resistance to pre-ignition. OP, most places are about the same price for premium whether it's 91 or 93, why worry? As long as it's premium, who cares. Side note, I haven't pumped regular 87 in 4 years now that I think about it, WTF, lol

Sometimes that's dictated by locale. West coast can only get 91, they always want 93. Any new car can adjust for using a lower grade of gasoline, but you are going to have reduced engine performance and worse gas mileage just to save literally $3. 87 octane: $2.65/gallon x 15 gallons = $39.75 93 octane: $2.85/gallon x 15 gallons = $42.75

There will be ZERO difference between 91 and 93. Nothing even remotely noticeable. Maybe 1* of timing? I run anywhere from 91 to 94 in my LS1 and she eats it all at a ferocious rate (damn 42lb injectors) with no problems. The manufacturer recommends no less than 91 octane. Meaning anything above 91 is perfectly fine, just burns slower.

Ever since I bought my phone it gets incrementally worse. When I first bought my 3GS last year it worked perfectly. With each update it gets slower and more glitchy. I'm not enthused.

With rented weapons yes. At least that's the way it is at our local indoor range. Actually here it's 21 for pistol rental and 18 for rifle rental, even with adult supervision. If you bring your own though, then it's 16 and up.

Or more importantly, what they have they will let him shoot there. Pistols are 21 and over to rent. Rifles are 16 and over I believe. But, a lot of places don't really carry rifles much. .17, .22, .410, and 9 mm would all be easy to handle in rifle form and pretty much the same in pistol form. 9mm will kick a little though for someone who's never shot something.

Nothing against you. This is just something I've observed and want to speak about. This excuse is really losing backing. That since it's not mainstream Japanese it's expensive to fix. Has anyone seen the cost of repairing a Japanese bike at a dealer? It's the same cost as the Italians, British, and others. So how about parts? It's more expensive to buy parts from the Euros than the Japs surely. Eh, no. Go into any Japanese make dealership and you'll get shafted on parts. So what do you do? You buy online for all of your goods and save money. Guess what the guys with the Euro bikes do? Same thing. After owning this Aprilia, I've realized that I haven't put any more money into repairing and maintaining it than I would have any Japanese bike like the Kawi, Zuks, Yamis, and Hondas. Excuse invalid. Don't be afraid.
