Operation Purple is a summer camp program for children of soldiers who are deployed in the sandbox.

Aside from the usual camp programs, there are also counselors there to help them deal with abandonment issues and things like that, that only children of soldiers go through.

Operation Purple thought it would be great if we could ride in and interact with the children and also let them see the motorcycles and spend some time with them. I must say I agree whole heartily with this mission request.

I would like to see all of you that can make this mission. The children range in age from 5-17 years of age. There will be around 100-120 children , so we can share a lot of friendship and hugs with them all. Please let us make this a wonderful memory for these brave children .

This is another part of our mission statement and I know our military men and women will be proud that we took the time to interact with their children while they are gone protecting us.

Its been since about 2003, but zaleski was free. Not sure if they have campsites that you can park at or if they are all on the hiking trails.

lol. I forget where, but there is a landing strip that crosses a road. They shut the road down and the plane actually runs across it.

I just got done backpacking in Wayne National this weekend. I'm planning one to Zaleski soon. I may have to check this out while I'm there.

I used to go down to Lake Hope, walk in at the old furnace. Great trails.
