  1. a stroke is line around something, and 1px = 1 pixel. for example;

    examplein.png

the stroked type has a 2px red stroke, and the unstroked type has a 0px stroke as it has no stroke at all.

also, the grey in the logotype is a bit hard to read with the multi-color background. if you get rid of the stroke I would think about putting something behind the type so it stands out from the photo a bit better otherwise it will be lost.

as for which image; the first one is better at the moment, but i think with some cropping you could make the 2nd image look good as well. if you have higher resolution versions to work with i would play around with cropping the 2nd image down a bit so more of the image is filled with the bikes, kind of like the first image. the reason i suggest doing this is you would have more room to play around with the ohio riders logo in the second image if you have a higher resolution master. white/negative space is typically a good thing as it gives the viewer a bit of breathing room and doesnt leave the image feeling claustrophobic. the trick is knowing where your focal point is set and balancing your focal point with the negative space. focal hierarchy is the most important factor when dealing with any image, and it's what you should use as a foundation when putting together any type of imagery or typography.

Ah I gotcha. Like I said, I just pulled the logo off of a thread on here. Only change I made was removing the "for motorcyclists in and around Ohio" It was really hard to read. I'll try what you recommend. Thanks.

Underexpose. In that case, I would have made 2 shots, one as is, and another with the shutter speed cranked up, or the aperture cranked down (higher number) to get the background. I'm not proficient enough to do it, but you can combine the 2 such as would be done for a HDR picture. With the little bit that's blown out, I think just stopping it down a couple stops would have helped, then bring everything else back up in PS. I am a total PS noob, and can't do much more than levels and color balance, and maybe adding a logo.

I'll remember that for next time.

  2. Unfortunately, you're not going to get accurate answers for YOU from asking here. You need to talk to people in your immediate area to get an idea of what works where you are. I think you already know the answer, since Time Warner (or is it Insight out there), and Century Link are the only 2 affordable options.

I realize their aren't many out here where I live, but I'd rather have someone mention a carrier I didn't think of and they do have service for me than not even know about them. Some of these I have never heard of.

Insight does not offer service where you live, you will have to go with TW unless WOW is out there, but I don't think they are.

I think WOW does carry here but not 100%.

  3. The first one it screams motorcycling to me.

The second one says I took a picture in front of the house. I would crop the pic down till Ohio riders was just above the bikes at the angle.

Just my opinion. And I don't know shit about photography.

I see what you're saying and agree.

    Neither. I can't see a single tittie.:(:p

    Sorry. :(

Second one has too much "empty" space that doesn't really add to the picture. Agreed with all above, cropping the second one could help bring it up to the awesomeness of picture one.

    Agreed.

Either is fine since my bike is in both ;)

First is better. Don't like text on either. What exactly did you do in PS?

I have them without the OR logos, but was just trying something new. I adjusted the coloring slightly and cropped them in PS.

On the second, the shy in the background is blown out (too bright to show anything other than just white) and the already mentioned dead space. It could be cropped down, but you'd still have some of the blown out sky, although it might not be so bad with less of it.

The first one is pretty good.

You're right about the sky. I am fining it difficult to not have my skies blown out. I wish I would have shot these in RAW though, I would have had more to work with it.

Why not make ones of the other pictures you took while we were there.... :D

More than the "dead space" in the second picture, your lines of focus are contradicting. The line of tires leads your eye down the row, then the OR logo leads it in another direction.

Absolutely correct. For some reason I couldn't tell what was bothering me about this shot until you said this.

First one is cool but the first bike isn't a ohiorider member, but other than that its cool

    Yeah I know.

    You can't photoshop a logo with a white-transparant outline over a dark background :(

Erase the white background and or add a consistent 1 px stroke around it

I pulled the logo from this thread: http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=70889&highlight=logo

You're talking about getting rid of the white outline on it correct? What do you mean with the "1 px stroke"? I'm new to the DSLR and PS world. :)

both are bad because there is no R6 front and center.

jk, i like the first one for reasons already stated.

    but surusly - no r6...

    Picky Picky. :D

Thanks for all the input from everyone. I wholeheartedly agree with all the comments.

  4. Unlike I.P. I am not afraid to give an opinion.

I am of the opinion that they are a good investment for safety reasons and while you are at it you should probably change your exhaust to make it louder for the same reason.

You sure flip flop a lot.

I hate loud bikes no matter the type.

A louder exhaust will not make me any faster and I seriously doubt they make anyone else any faster. Loud exhaust is just obnoxious.

  5. I even had one friend who worked in the TWC customer service and she told me that during training they were told to tell customers that it was their router causing the problem and it wasn't TWC's fault. They provide HORRIBLE service, at least in the Columbus area.

Wow, that's messed up they'd do that. :nono:

  6. I have armstrong cable internet and love it. I have had zero problems with my cable internet.

I just checked them and don't get their service here.

I have Centurylink, which is more like "turn of the" century link. I started out with Sprint, then it was Embarq and now CenturyLink through all the mergers. My latest update from them was that 5.0 meg service I'd been paying for for the past 3 years was no longer available and they gave me a $50 credit. Speeds are always slow, seems to be a lot of congestion and their customer service is horrible. Unfortunately they are the only provider where I live, no cable in my area, so I have to live with it.

Yeah, I am really fed up with them. That's probably the only reason they are still in business because they offer service where others don't.

I do a lot of online gaming I run 2 Xbox's simultaneously and sometimes 3 if the wife is using the other one to watch a movie on netflix. Usually a a computer or two is connected at the same time we are gaming and the tivo will connect to update stuff and I never have any problems.

All I mainly do is surf the web, up/download pictures and occasionally larger files. No gaming or anything like that so a basic package or a step up will do just fine for me.

  7. I don't think Cheby should be allowed in bars. He is dangerous :D

I don't go to bars anyways. I did enough drinking in the army and now I am married with a kid. If do I drink, it's like one beer and I'm at home. lol

  8. This is why they need to allow the law abiding citizen to carry wherever. We are discussing which is worse: breaking the law by carrying or getting into a situation where you need a gun to defend your life but have been legislated out of being able to. Sad.

  9. I have Century Link right now and I am tired of it going out all the time. I've had it with them. Who do you have, how much do you pay and what do you like/dislike about it? Thanks all!

Edit: AT&T and Verizon don't have service where I live.

  10. I have the rules it mentions the compact class but I wasn't sure if I remembered them having a compact class. The neon isn't my first choice but its fairly cheap. I saw on the rules it says that a maximum of 3" of rubber hose can be at each end of the fuel line. I was going to run rubber hose till I found that out. I'm now planning on copper tubing. Is that what you would recommend? Also in the rules it says only 3 gallons of fuel but most tanks I've found are 5 gallons. Can I use that and only put 3 gallons in it?

I just always ran rubber hose, usually a foot or two. Never had any issues. I can't remember what size fuel cell we used but I don't think they'd care 3 gallon vs 5 gallon.

  11. Nice! I'd like to check out a wheel gun sometime.

Next time we shoot, come over and try it out.

Gritty and heavy...... but for the price, it's an accurate, reliable Smith that will go "bang" every time. I'd take it over EVERY gun at its price point.

    It will fire every time.

hmm....odd idea, not sure why somebody would want a DAO trigger lol...if i wanted a DAO trigger ide get a revolver not a semi.....but it sounds like an easy fix

if you find out a price let me know, i know somebody who is possibly interested

I guess this was shortly after most police used revolvers and they made the sigma with a long, heavy pull since that's what the officers were used to.

I also think they had problem with officers having negligent discharges becuase they were used to the lighter pull it originally had but that could be a different firearm I am thinking of.
