  1. Unfortunately in the world we live in, any action on your part such as a bat to the legs may wind you up in court being sued. Stranger things have happened.

I remember a thief somewhere in Cleveland broke into someones home and stold their tv, he slipped on their icy driveway on his way out and injured himself. Supposedly the theirf sued and won. Disgusting.

I do believe there was a law passed that states "If you are committing any illegal activity, you cannot sue for damages" or something along those lines. I'm not 100% positive of this though.

  2. Who is responsible for my safety?

The supreme court has ruled police are not actually obligated to protect me. Besides, there is almost no chance they will be there to protect me if I need it. If firemen put out fires then why do people have fire extinguishers in their homes? Because the firemen can't respond to an emergency in 3 seconds and neither can the police, but a fire extinguisher in the home, or a gun in the pocket can do so.

So who is responsible for my safety?

    I AM

Private citizens defend themselves with guns an estimated 2.5 million times per year in the US. 2.4 million of these incidents go unreported to the authorities mostly because a gun ended the incident with no actual crime taking place. Of reported crimes stopped with a gun 83.5% of the time the attacker used force of some kind first. 92% of the time the attack was ended by just brandishing a firearm. Firearms are used 60 times more often to protect lives than to take lives. Robbery victims are 4 times more likely to be injured if they do not resist at all than if they resist with a gun. Robbery victims are 7 times more likely to be injured if they resist in any way other than a gun than if they resist with a gun. 77% of all violent crimes take places in public places.

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because, unarmed and facing an armed thug, I am inadequate.

I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

    I did not write this.

  3. Yeah, looks a ton better. A lot of that was due to using such a small OR logo too.

I fixed the stroking where "ohio" and "riders" meet and moved it in from the edge of the photo.

I'm not to worried about the car, but if you want to mess with it, you are more than welcome to.

  4. That looks good with the white stroke, bring Ohio a little closer to Riders though.

You may want to try adding a little (LITTLE) drop shadow to the text layer, basically you probably want to bring it out from the background just a little.

  5. It's just super duper lame, Photoshop != Microsoft WordArt.

I'm just being a dick though, glad to see another chopper... and I'm hoooorible

    lol.

I scrapped the logo I got off the site. Found what font Casper used and copied the colors so now I have a decent sized logo without the edges being white. working with that now.

  6. try a white stroke with #3 instead of black. should get rid of the white line around the type, or at least hide it. also might want to try reducing the logo size a tiny big so it isn't bleeding off the edge of the image. give it a little breathing room and it will be happy.

I am using PS Elements and I found the strokes, but I couldn't figure out where to change the colors and the px. It gives like 8 "auto strokes"

Not trying to be different but I like the second one better. The first one seems to be messed with too much and looks artificial.

    lol, you're the only one.

You should shop out that truck in the background...

I'm not good enough to shop out something that big.

zOMG! If I ever see you use a pattern overlay or a bevel/emboss I will hurt your face! :D

I'm not being a dick to Casper, but the image in that thread is not appropriate for what you're doing, ideally for something like what you've done you'd want a very large source image without a background, and in an ideal world you'd have it in vector art that you can import into PS as a "smart object" that way you can scale/adjust/etc without distortion.

But all in all, you're learning, and that's the best part :)

Here's a quick try, basically just pulled the white out as a drop shadow

    Why shouldn't I used overlays or bevel/emboss?

No, the image really isn't for these. I had to resize the photos way down or else the logo was really distorted when I enlarged it enough to work.

There is no background on the logo, but there is the slight white at the edges.

  7. Thank you, I love guns!

Its kinda shocked me that the people actually bitched... Then again some gearheads just need something to bitch about...

People fear what they do not understand and what they are lead to believe by movies and the media.

  8. I like the cook out idea and then Shallowtail. There are many new members that we don't know yet and even though we are a bike site we are a much tighter group than other forums and most of us know each other on a personal level. A cook out would allow the large amount of newbs to get to know us and maybe lessen the "Ringo effect". We always have a good time at our non bike events so it'd be a good time that wont end in a dick measuring contest and a crash. Then Shallow tail afterward

    I like this idea.

kawi and chebby can bring a trailer to show off their guns (just due to the number of firearms threads, I just assumed)

    :nono:

Plus it includes the other halfs and kids. That spawns more friendships with the ones that may not ride.

This is a big reason I don't get out for OR rides or events often. So having a family oriented event would suite me, and I am sure others, better.
