  1. I just overheard the range guy saying something about him being able to SELL 50 rd mags, but they were like fireworks; you can buy them, but you can't use (load) them in Ohio. 30 or 33 is the legal limit (again, according to what I overheard the range guy say)

What I wondered about (law student reflex) is if loading 10 rounds into the 50 round mag is still illegal, or if it's that 34th bullet that makes it illegal. I think of the magazine round limit in the same manner as a speed limit - you're not to exceed 65mph on the highway; but that doesn't mean you can't have a vehicle CAPABLE of 150. It's USING it beyond the expressed limit that constitutes the crime; not having the potential.

M understanding is you cannot load one bullet into it and/or insert it into the weapon. At least that's what the general consensus on many gun forums is.

  2. We can do a advance class when weather permits with 10 persons, cover multi-targets, barricade,right-left hand shooting, shooting from ground, lying on your back, over your head etc. At least 100 rounds per person 5-6 hours in length and $50 a person.

I am liking how that sounds Chief. Definitely have to keep this in mind.

It's nice to be able to get info straight from the source.

  3. We all catch hell here for our firearm choices.

Everytime i see CamoLegs I gotta hear some shit about Glocks.

I'd have to agree with him, Glocks suck. But I didn't know there was a difference between a Glock and shit. ;)

The point is you armed yourself. Now pratice as much as you can and get good with it.

This^^. IIRC correctly, this is your first gun. You gotta start somewhere. Put as many rounds down range as you can.

  4. say you come out of the bathroom at a gas station and its being robbed....and your carrying....say you shoot the robber---then what? you go to jail?

i plan to get my ccw just so I can throw my guns & ammo in the front of my vehicle when I go somewhere. Ohio's gun laws are loopy.

You can only use deadly force against a threat to your life or an innocents life. You cannot use deadly force to protect property. You'd also better be sure the guy robbing the place or pointing a gun at someone is the bad guy. First impressions can be deceiving.

Download the concealed carry booklet from the Ohio AG website. Get into the firearms forum on here and go to the "Firearm Reference Thread" It's stickied. There's some information and links in there you should read up on.

  5. All that fancy researching you whipper snappers do these days must come with some of that handy citation.

Look at how the world really works, not what we think makes sense in our heads. For most people to say "I'd shoot the guy with the gun first" is the normal response. But criminals don't tend to think like that. They want the money or whatever and want to get out. Would you be willing to die trying to steal some lady's purse if she had a gun? Would you die trying to rob the 7/11 if there was a guy standing with a gun next to you? How many people have become a target because they were open carrying? I can think of one.

  6. I'd shoot the guy open carrying, empty his pockets, and make sure he had his gun in his hand before I called the cops.

Of course none of that matters. You can't pull a gun fast enough to defend yourself most of the time anyway. People who rely on their gun as first line of defense are only kidding themselves.

In agreement with you there. I'm probably giving the "dirtbag-bad guy" too much credit but I'd still feel like the 1st target with it hanging on my hip providing he's coming into the situation with equally as much bang as myself.

Sure, that is very likely. But then again, most all the stories I have read and researched and first person accounts tend to lean the other way. Most bad guys don't want any confrontation. Quick, easy and get outta dodge mentality.

  7. I'm all for it it also but dont you think you become the bad guy's first target if the S_H_T_F ? Hence my question for why open carry? I know we "do it because we can" but just because "you can" doesn't mean its the smartest way to do it....Not trying to start a debate because like I said, I'm all in...Just my point of view on the subject.

Say you were a bad guy. You were given a choice of two people to rob. One had a gun on his hip, the other didn't. Which would you rob?

Granted the bad guy that is hopped up on drugs probably won't care if you have a gun or not. But most bad guys don't want to die for money or a TV. How many people try to rob/vandalize a police station or a gun store?
