  1. todd may be right that its different now...but its exactly what youre describing... separate phone line, little plug in usb internet thing, added on bill, etc etc etc...all the same thing...but they ditched it two years ago, so maybe its changed now or something

My wife said it's all wireless. Plug it into the wall and leave it there or take it off since it's rechargeable and take it with you. No need for a USB. I'll have to see what info she brings home tonight for it.

  2. For web browsing and stuff, the hotspot will be fine. For downloading files and stuff, it's going to be slower. I don't think you'd be very happy with it.

Is this going to be LTE, Verizon's 4g? Do they have service for that out in P-town yet?

Jamie is bringing the paperwork home with her so I can read into it more. The way she explained it is it's kind of like another line for the phones. She said the speed would be a little bit better than what we have now with Century Link. It's supposed to work anywhere the cell phones work.

  3. Haven't tried that. However, Android phones can be turned on to act as wireless hot-spot devices too. If you already have an Android, that could save you quite a bit of money.

My wife has an Ally and we could use it, but she works evenings and that would leave me at home without a way to check ORDN.

It is what I had at what is now Kims house for the last 5 years works great. She got custody of it in the split. I live in town now so I have Roadrunner and truthfully dont think RR is any faster.
disagree with todd on all levels. my girls family had this when i met her and using internet there was a pain in the dick...i guess if you travel a lot, it would be ok, but for home use it was slow as hell...they switched to roadrunner (regular, not turbo) and its infinitely faster

Way to be split down the middle. lol. I don't need anything super fast just decent. The ability to take it with me anywhere I want or still have access if the power goes out is a compelling feature. Plus it would just be added into my Verizon bill so that's one less company we have to remember to pay.

  4. So we have Verizon for our cell phones and we are looking into getting their hot spot internet service. My understanding is it's rechargeable device and you can take it wherever your cell phone will work and access the net. Or when the power goes out it will still work. Will work on up to 5 computers. $50 a month.

Anyone have any experience with these? Thoughts?

  5. I put an alien sticker on my bicycle when I was in highschool. I got a license plate for the bicycle from toys r us, and it had ALIEN on it. Then after getting Matlab on my computer I computed pi to 10,000+ digits and eventually memorized it out to around 30 places and ended up using the number in a lot of passwords, of course in combination with random letters and symbols. I thought instead of alien(circumference/diameter) or alien31415926535897932 I'd just make it efficient.

    Wow.

  6. Mine is chevysoldier because I needed an email address and couldn't think of anything. So since I pretty much always had a chevy car or truck and I was in the army, I combined the two and had chevroletsoldier for my email. When I started getting onto forums, it was easier to type chevysoldier and it has stuck for pretty much everything. My email addresses and screen names are all a variation of this.

I had never seen this thread so I was reading through it. I get to CBRGirls post and all she put was :moo: Then I found it hilarious when I looked at her current avatar!

  7. Like I said I was proud shot with a rossi single shot youth model .22lr with a 4x bushnell scope on it. He is my little trooper came home and helped me clean all the guns(three handuns and 1 rifle) He takes after his dad of corse.

Cleaning is very important. You can't have fun and not take care of your firearms. Good job teaching him responsibility.

  8. If your friend doesn't like his XDM he can always give it to me! I love mine. I feel like there is no better all round pistol out there. Put probably 300 round minimum through it and never had a jam or feed issue, consistanly accurate and easy to maintian.

Wow, you are alive. You gonna come shoot with us sometime?

  9. Well, almost any range time is better then no time. But I learned a few things. My Hi Power is still broke. Still does not extractor the spend round. Second thing, a .38 S&W bodyguard has some muzzle flip. The laser was an eye opener as you think you are holding the gun lined up on target, but you see the laser dance around.

Third and fourth thing, after borrowing from a friend a Glock 17 and Springfield XDM, I was not shooting accurately. Not sure why. Probably not too acustom to the gun since they are not mine? Shots were all over the place. Some high, some low, some left and some right. I dont think I was flinching or preparing for the "bang" of the shot.

Fifth thing, the Buckman Camper .22LR pistol rocks!! I was accurate with this one.

So, my next 9mm might be a Taraus PT 92 or whatever the PT 809, a CZ something, or the Ruger SR9

Good to hear you got some range time in, that is never a bad thing. As for your shot's being off, you need to find your shooting position. Make sure you have a proper, balanced stance. Steady your breathing. I aim with both eyes open. Helps me to see the sights and the target. Plus being left eye dominant and right handed, using one eyes really screws me up. So check which eye dominant you are and adjust. Don't hold your breath, this will make you shake. The best time to squeeze the trigger, not jerk it, is right when you exhale. There is a natural pause in your breath and that is when you are the most steady. Like someone said, tape yourself if you can, or have a spotter watch you to coach.

I'm usually off with other people's firearms until I've shot a little with them. Different ergonomics, sights and trigger pulls will throw anyone off. It's interesting you say you were dead on with the .22 but off with the larger calibers. Sounds like you are anticipating the shots or your grip/stance needs improvement. With the .22 there is less recoil and noise so you might be relaxing and not trying to over control the firearm.

    Just my .02.

  10. on an semi related note, apple has applied for a patent related to holographical touchscreen. i believe it has been granted?

I realize holographics is in the R/D of many other companies as well but you know apple will do something fancy with it and blow it out of the water leaving most other competitors far behind :D

I bet Bill Gates thought of it first.:)
