  1. Wow, I'm glas the instructors we had weren't nearly that arrogant! I know they are both excellent riders, one of them did manage to drag peg once or twice, and he's a hardley rider! The other guy is a test driver/rider, or something like that somewhere, I think it was TRC.
  2. What???? For some reason I thought you have your's! The BRC is great. It's a bit boring if you've been riding, but they do everything that's on the test as part of the class, so most people have no problem at the end of the class when they run you through the test. Just don't go trying to show-off during the class since you already ride.
  3. I have handscent on my hero. There are a few quirks about it that I don't like, and I've set the stock sms program back as default, but at least I can use Handscent when I need it to auto-resize an image before sending, which is nice.
  4. Damn. I was thinking that, and was going to say it, until I got to your post and you had already taken it from me.... Anyway, welcome to the madness!
  5. I know how that goes. It's a very rare occasion that we have to do that though.

  6. It's probably in less than excellent condition? Maybe they forgot the less than in the description?
  7. We've converted several of them to regular struts, but I think they were all late 90's models.

I'm remember there being a system calibration procedure, I wonder if it has something to do with that? I'm thinking it would throw a light on, but no codes. At least it might be something to look into!

    Probably stronger than when new!
  9. Looking back at my last trip to Mid-Ohio, I was primarily using my 70-200 f/2.8 (Sigma, can't afford the Canon IS model) with a 1.4 TC on it. I was intentionally underexposing a little, to help get rid of some of the weird reflections off the nice shiny paint jobs. I was looking at about f/11 and about 1/1000 shutter, @ ISO 100. I probably shoulda opened up the aperature a little and dragged the shutter a bit more to motion blur the tires, to get the sense of motion a little more.
  10. Not to rain on you parade or anything, but have you shot at the track before? What sort of equipment do you have? I think I read about you looking for Canon lenses. I wouldn't mess with much less than a 70-200 f/2.8 IS on a 40D or better (or newer counterparts.) The 6.5 FPS I can click off on the 40D is gonna be cool fo rthe track. I didn't make it there this year, and I just got the 40D almost a year ago. I've been up to mid-ohio for the Indycars, and it is VERY difficult to even get a car in your shot when they're at speed.
  11. This is back in my mind now! Your family will be in my prayers as well. This is a difficult thing to deal with, I have been there.
  12. They had it tucked away in some weird place on their website. Like a button in the middle of the council page, or something like that. I think that verbage is similar to most municipalities. Summary: Don't use your horn unless it's really necessary, and don't be an ass about it. /thread?

Which is why it will be getting EFI installed one day. I have many of the parts, electronics, etc... I just need to get the intake (to fit vortec style heads, planning on using the stealth ram) and fuel rails and pump. Wow! I would've figured a GNX motor would've lasted longer than that.

When I started to put this engine together the LS1 had only been out for about a year, and everything was super expensive for them. For what I have wrapped up in my 350, I could have a LSx swap now. I wasn't about to wait for the LSx to mature enough to be affordable. If I had it to do again now, I would most certainly go the LSx route..

Since I'm oretty sure all these vehicles are throttle by wire, I wonder how many other manufacturers used parts from the same supplier? I hear something about chinese full-sized Ford trucks being in question for this reason. Sometimes I just want a carburetor sitting on top of V-8.... Oh wait, I have one sitting outside!

If I had one, I wouldn't be so worried. If it sticks (doubtful until it gets some age an wear on it from what I've read ) just turn the ignition back one click to the off or acc position, and be aware that the power assist is no longer there for the steering or brakes, and get it to the side of the road. You could also just pop it into neutral and let the rev limiter do it's job, while you keep power steering.

OOooohhh what a feeling to drive....(an out of control) Toyota!
  18. Better get some 5 hour energy, too. Maybe a few of them! For the record, he's not totally wrong or right, but I haven't read enough of it actually cite quotes to prove my thinking on that.
  19. But it's a vicious cycle, they just raise the rates to SHOW that they're giving a break, and therefore making the same amount as before. It's all about marketing....
  20. I think on the little 250 I've done better on the front chicken strips tan the rear! The tires are tiny on it though.
  21. But, will it be as good of a rate as a company that's going to be paying thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills all at once? BTW, I KNEW that individuals could negotiate. I haven't needed to, but have talked to family members that have done so for stuff that's not covered very well, such as vision care.
  22. On this whole healthcare reform issue, I don't think government intervention the way they're attempting to get it done, is not the answer. Providing coverage and making it affordable is what I keep hearing. Instead of trying to subsidize (sp?) it, why not take away from the rich (doctors, surgeons, etc.) to make it more affordable? Make them drop their rates. I find it appalling that almost every EOB and bill I get has an adjustment where the insurance company has negotiated a lower price. I'm not going to blame one specific healthcare provider, but that's just how the industry operates. Can you or I call up the doctor or hospital and negotiate a better rate, if we're not covered, or self insured?
