  1. Sorry, Magz. Yer prolly right. How about I replace "has a fear of unfamiliar dogs" with "obsesses about the possibility of being bitten again by an unfamiliar dog"... Ya gotta remember that dog lovers are at least as irrational and obsessive about dogs as are the dog haters. Truth.
  2. Wow, just wow! Nearly 100 posts in less than 2 days...and it's not about an exciting 2013 release of a new bike model. Lots of conjecture and flaming without a lot of facts: Fact: a cop shot a dog in pursuit of a suspect. Was it necessary or justified? I've seen nothing to confirm or deny this. Fact: a dog is dead. Was it viscious and attacking the officer? I've seen nothing to confirm or deny this. Fact: Duane (Magley64) had a bad experience with a dog decades ago and has a fear of unfamiliar dogs. Is he borderline psychotic? Well, I've got my opinion, but have no facts to confirm or deny this. Fact: there are far more posts about guns/gun rights/liberal anti-gun communist fags/hard-core right-wing pistol-carrying extremists on OR after riding season ends than during the warmer months. Does this mean the OR population has suddenly and dramatically tilted toward the skinhead mentality and that we're close to a zombie apocalypse? Again, I have my opinion, but have no facts to confirm or deny this. Legal disclaimer! Fact: I'm both a dog owner and gun owner. I may be both borderline psychotic and a zombie...but y'all have no facts to confirm or deny this. God, I hope winter is over REAL EARLY this year!!!
  3. It's come down to this...I either have to build a $15,000 garage addition to 'store' what amounts to several hundred dollars (at best) of stuff, or just offer it up to anyone interested. I've cruised the internet briefly to try to price these reasonably, but make an offer if you see something that interests you. Hearthstone Tucson Catalytic Vent-Free stove--Model 8740--$250 Original cost was approx $1100 (circa 2001). Heavy cast iron construction with rich brown enamel finish and real marble stone insets. Decorative fire logs give real fire appearance thru the glass front door. The unit incorporates an ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor) that shuts off the gas to the burner in the event of insufficient air supply for safe operation, and has a piezo electric ignitor and standing pilot flame. This stove does NOT require electric hookup (great for power outages). Includes extra catalytic combustor assembly (approx $250). A few nicks on the finish and one of the marble stones is cracked (see top pic). Includes owners manual, installation instructions, and remote wall thermostat. Please note that vent-free room heaters greater than 10,000 BTU may NOT be installed in a bedroom according to local code. Approx dimension: 26.5" H x 21" W x 20" D Output rating (BTU): 19,000 max to 12,500 min Fuel: NG Clearance to combustibles (side/back/top): 2"/2"/22" Top view Side view NOTE: The pics appear to show blemishes in the finish, but it's just reflections in the enamel. Black & Decker Router--Model 7616--$25 1.0 HP/5 A/23K RPM Router has been used lightly and little. I upgraded to a larger one awhile ago. I'll throw in a Craftsman router table (Model 925481) for free if you want it. This is definitely Craftsman NOT at it's finest. Barely homeowner quality, and I've never actually used it. That says it all...
  4. What part of "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law" isn't clear?
  5. ...and obviously with a full roster of videographers and support staff. Not exactly as if she was traveling alone as a female in this very heavily male-dominated society. Lots of places I'd love to see....as soon as I've seen most of what the USA has to offer. Figger I've got several decades of travel here before I run out of the good stuff! [And, no, I'm not so provincial that I bleed red/white/blue. Born and raised Canadian and spent a year in Europe in the late 60s.]
  6. This is why OR peeps from Cincinnati never show up. We're not only all gay, but we get our feelings hurt easily, too! I can't WAIT for the video on this one.... Seriously, sorry I missed the backyard doo. Just a bit too far to drive after drinking, what with all the enforcement around the holi-daze. Not looking to add a DUI plate as a personalized vanity plate.
  7. Hmmmm. The way this thread started out, I thought was gonna try to come up for a few hours, but at this point....I think I'll just wait for the DVD to be released.
  8. Pretty sure this is a repost, but in case you're not familiar with it... Blog by a fella who's been 'homeless' on three wheels for at least 6-7 years. Stunning photos and an interesting train-of-thought way of posting. Don't know the complete back story, but I know his son died some years ago, which prompted him to do some SERIOUS soul searching. Been touring with his adopted rescue pitbull and living off the land--and the graciousness of his friends and acquaintances--and writing about his experiences. Makes a good read when you have some free time. http://theoasisofmysoul.com/
  9. I've seen similar videos from that area, but not with that much snow on the trail. Pretty sure it's an area of BLM lands called Book Cliffs near Fruita, CO. That is definitely some gnarly riding, but the wide-angle lens on the camera foreshortens the image and makes it look narrower and steeper than it really is--not taking anything away from the rider, tho. Wouldn't want to fall unless I felt like sliding all the way to the bottom.
  10. 4 bikes make it twice as easy!
  11. Any old racers/tuners around who might be willing to share some advice about tuning the carbs on the CBR600? Go to the thread here for some background: http://www.assfaultjunkies.com/showt...-from-the-dead!!! Long story short, I've been fiddling with the pilot screw settings thinking that with the aftermarket exhaust, the engine was running a little lean, but based on the popping/farting on closed-throttle deceleration--and the sniff test as well--I'm convinced that at least at low RPM/part throttle, it's too rich. Then as the revs go up, there are a several flat spots at different throttle openings plus the engine feels pretty 'soft' above 9K-10K RPM to redline, and I'd guess that means maybe too lean at WFO, but don't know for sure. What I'm looking for is any resources to tap for tuning info. I'm not trying to track this thing, so NOT looking for max HP, but would like it to run cleanly around town and show a little more guts on the top end. Still running the stock CV carbs--have no idea if the original owner did any tuning as far as different jets/needles when he swapped the exhaust. I did install new rebuild kits all around, although I didn't replace the slide diaphragms as they appeared in good shape. Thx for any help!!! Ciao--Bubba
  12. Going smaller on the front is prolly the easier/cheaper option than going bigger in the back. Smaller front definitely puts more stress on the chain and may wear the chain guide excessively. Going bigger on the rear by more than 1-2 teeth prolly means buying not only the sprocket but a new longer chain as well, or minimally, adding a link or two to the old chain.
  13. Internet bully? Hmmm, how did you come to have knowledge of my multiple personality disorder as well as my Oedipus complex?
  14. K. Yer forgiven, altho a remedy like this from an auto-tech scares me a little... If it was me, I would have prolly disconnected the line to that caliper and plugged it with a cap screw or similar. It seems to me if you have some bleed though at the line clamp under braking, you could end up with a dragging brake pad and overheat the fluid. But if yer comfortable, I'm good with it...it's your ass on the line. Carry on.
  15. Hmmm. I have an engine running poorly with one dead cylinder. Should I just pull off the plug wire from that cylinder? Or should I actually remove the plug from the cylinder?
  16. Battery plates can be so sulfated that they can't generate enough current when a load is applied, but still read +12v on a meter. Also, if a battery is completely drained, a tender prolly doesn't provide enough current to adequately charge the system. If you want to try to save it for the winter and replace it next spring, use a charger that supplies 2-3 amps (vs the 0.5-0.75 of the tender) and leave it on for no more than an hour or so, then put the tender on to top it off. Failing this, you spring for a new battery.
  17. Oooooo!!! Stalker. I always wanted one of those....
  18. The route sheet actually starts from Turkeyfoot Rd, which is the next exit EAST from Dixie Hwy. Same road that Thomas More College is on.
  19. We pretty much stayed on the back roads today; you know, the ones with 4 numbers in their designation? Heck, some of 'em even didn't HAVE numbers. Paved....barely. Did get some good twisties railing 467 and 36, but the rural county roads are more entertaining!!!
  20. Tom: Great riding with you today. Glad you didn't break anything and only sampled some of NKYs finest mud. But hey, that's what KTMs are good for, right? I know you would'a been disappointed if you didn't get a LITTLE DIRTY today....
  21. Better watch it, Zach. She's posting and introducing herself on AFJ's forum. Can't trust a woman that'll have consort with a Junkie.... I kid....I just kidding.... Danielle, for what it's worth, you missed a REALLY fun ride today. Sorry you couldn't make it. Catch up with us next time for sure.
  22. Great ride, everyone! Tom (Cobrat) and Zach (Bitani) and Rob Giles (Diceman from LocalRiders) showed for our backwoods jaunt. I think our KY route mileage was around 170, but that includes the detour to Rabbit Hash so that Zach can say he isn't a 'Hash virgin' anymore. Lots of sweet roads and almost NO TRAFFIC to slow us down. 'Course, we NEVER exceeded the 15-20 over SL. Much. Pretty sure that when I parted with the group as they were headed to Dayton, I think I heard Zach mutter that he was gonna put knobbies on his ZX....
  23. I think you got some snide comments for two reasons: 1) it's hard for someone who is an experienced rider to imagine a question like this; leaning is a part of the experience as much as it is in sailing or flying; and 2) it's getting to be winter with the usual lack of light and crap weather; anyone who hangs around a MC forum based mostly in the Midwest/North knows that we all get pretty grumpy this time of year and the only exercise most of us get is flaming away on the keyboard; put on your thick skin and stick around until next spring; you'll be happy you did!!!
  24. Not sure how much of a roll you've got, but we're gonna be at the McD's until noon. The meet-up is approx 10-12 min south of the river, so if you can make it to Cinti by 11:45, yer golden. Send Zach a text if yer coming and running late. Should be fun ride. EDIT/ADD: If you've been slaving away all night, it'll be a long day for you. If you do come, BE SAFE!!!
