  1. Don't forget the other quote. But there is hope that some bright chemist can refine something out of this report.
  2. Researchers have found that a chemical found in hops may actually improve memory. Unfortunately, a person would need to drink 3,520 pints of beer a day to get a high enough dose of the chemical to boost their brain power. A daunting task for even the most enthusiastic Oktoberfest participant. From the article: "Researchers at Oregon State University discovered that doses of xanthohumol, a flavonoid found in hops, improved memory and thinking in a lucky group of mice. Flavonoids are a class of compounds present in plants, known to have numerous health benefits. Last year, researchers discovered that a flavonoid found in celery and artichokes could potentially fight pancreatic cancer. The researchers treated the mice with dietary supplements of xanthohumol over the course of eight weeks. Their goal was to determine if xanthohumol could affect palmitoylation, a naturally occurring process in animals (including humans) that's associated with memory degradation. The mice then went through a series of tests—including the popular Morris water maze—to gauge whether or not the treatments had improved their spatial memory and cognitive flexibility. For the younger mice in the group, it worked. But on the older mice, unfortunately, the xanthohumol didn't seem to have any effect." http://science.slashdot.org/story/14/10/01/2225205/study-compound-found-in-beer-boosts-brain-function Is there anything beer can't do?
  3. Here is a starting point: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/ Scroll down to the bottom of the page for different categories and for older Office versions. Poke around a bit. Bet you find one that will work. Flair included. On the other hand I've never had "extra money"
  4. Metzler's aren't bad tires. Not wanting to start a "Which-is-better" tire war which is just like a "Which-is-better" oil war or any other "Which-is-better" war. Next time you need tires you might want to consider styles, sizes and brands. Over sized tires should make it more stable on the highway and less fun in the turns. All depends on where you want to ride the most.
  5. ^^^ This. Word can be pretty flexible as long as your images are .bmp or .jpg Illustrator might be overkill counting the learning curve. But this is just the kind of thing it was made for.
  6. Don't discount tires for effecting the "Feel" of the bike in turns. Including how easy it is to flick them into and out of a turn. My older 750 got over this feeling with a new set of Avon tires instead of a mis-matched set of-who-knows-what-no-brand and a Shinko from the last guy that owned it.
  7. Remarks of President Barack Obama – As Prepared for Delivery Responsibly Ending the War in Iraq Camp Lejeune, North Carolina Friday, February 27, 2009 Let me say this as plainly as I can: by August 31, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Remarks-of-President-Barack-Obama-Responsibly-Ending-the-War-in-Iraq
  8. Sounds like a possible kindle book on Amazon. This would allow you to have a standard format and distribution network as well. More info here: https://kdp.amazon.com/ Types of FormatsKindle Direct Publishing (KDP) lets you upload and convert your final draft from several formats. Not so sure how you would enforce the pay-to-play part on the website. That's another can of worms to play with. On the other hand making a decision on one thing might solve the other thing by itself.
  9. Perhaps a few more details? What is your end result going to be? A poster, newsletter, x-mass card? I can do a little photoshopping if that's the kind of thing you need.
  10. DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Officials with the Centers for Disease Control have confirmed that a person in Dallas definitely has the Ebola virus. Tuesday’s official determination makes the patient, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, the first diagnosed Ebola case in the United States. Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Texas Department of State Health Services, Presbyterian Hospital and Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) all participated in an afternoon press conference. CDC Director Thomas Frieden related the information that the individual who tested positive had traveled to Liberia. The person left Liberia on September 19 and arrived in the United States on September 20 with no virus symptoms. Frieden said it was four or five days later that the patient, who is believed to be male, began developing symptoms and was ultimately admitted to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas on Sunday, September 28. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2014/09/30/cdc-confirms-patient-in-dallas-has-the-ebola-virus/ The article isn't real clear on who this person is. Are they from Texas or just in Texas when they got sick. Foreign national or US citizen? Wonder why they were in Liberia? Perhaps a Liberian on a student visa? Business? A Missionary? The article is vague on the details of the person themselves Scary stuff. Makes you wonder about all the other diseases suddenly running around. The South American virus attacking kids and the new infection that is being likened to Polio. The wave of people coming over the southern border without any health screenings is worrisome when news like this comes out. Any medical people out there who can make an informed guess as to what is going on here?
  11. National Outrage!! Media figures running around with heads on fire! Film at 11PM! Yet, look around at the rest of the world and what they are doing against any non-muslim. Crickets.... edit Adding to the fun: http://www.wapt.com/news/central-mississippi/jackson/rabbi-restaurant-owner-discuss-jewish-salad-incident/28268182 I'm digging for an Anti-Pastfarian article so we can all be truly outraged.
  12. And we think we are so progressive! </s> It's all theater.
  13. I am shocked that you think a racist political puppet couldn't be appointed to the SCOTUS. Where is your faith in politics? Your belief in political correctness? Your acknowledgement of the corruption of the American ideal? I am shocked I tell you, shocked! C'mon, Hope and change baby! Hope and change! After all we allowed a "Wise 'Latino' Woman" to the SCOTUS based on nothing but her own self description as such. I'm thinking that Tonik is more correct that anybody realizes. "Hate them all" 'caus there ain't no way they are working for us. </s></s> Edit: added extra .
  14. The "Right people", of course!
  15. It was a good day, weather was perfect! Good to meet a few new faces. See some new bikes. A good day all around. Thanks JackFlash for leading. You set a nice pace.
  16. Anybody want to bet that he is the next appointee to the SCOTUS?
  17. Conditions for 43125 (Groveport) Partly Cloudy Temperature 61.4° at 7AMHigh temp for the day 83Wind 4.4MPH from the East0% chance of rain. Does it get any better than this?
  18. So, an e-book then? I've been doing something like this for awhile. What kind of info are you looking for?
  19. The Out-of-town / bused in / paid protesters need something to do with their time.
  20. Grenade launchers? Wait a sec. If I can't buy it at my local gun store why does a school district get to have one? After the Zombie apocalypse I'm going to go straight to the local high school to get the really cool weapons. Come to think of it, I could use a tank. You know, to keep my neighbors dog from decorating my lawn.
  21. Not so curious. Makes perfect sense. Get the guy who knows where the bodies are buried out of public office so he can't be compelled to testify. ala Lois Lerner. The Dems seem to think the Senate is lost so are doing pre-emptive damage control hoping they get a pass on their past actions. Actually if you think about it it's a standard move for the Obama admin. Remember, "Not a smidgen of corruption" as the Chicago Jesus did say. This story will now fall down the memory hole in the media, nothing to see here, move along.
