  1. Ah, a Glenn Beck thread. Almost missed this one.

For you fans of Beck, I ask a simple question. Please reconcile this:

    http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-august-13-2009/glenn-beck-s-operation

Yes, I know it's a TDS link. Yes, I know some of you can't stand Jon Stewart. Don't attack the messenger, it cheapens your argument.

How can someone who himself campaigned so vehemently for healthcare reform suddenly think everything is all OK, and by extension what happened to him is just a part of the system that we have and shouldn't be changed?

i think there's a difference between the quality of care and "reform" and giving it away to everyone "for free" via tax dollars. And whether you think its the best or the worst system in the world, its hard to argue that it could sustain the addition of 30 million more people and improve quality. Usually when you increase use/production quality will drop. I'm just trying to reconcile your statement, i'm not trying to change your view or anyone's view on healthcare or get sucked into another healthcare debate or have another 1000 threads dedicated to healthcare.

  2. a guy that went through the TDI course had a kimber 1911 and it was pretty sexy. I don't own a 1911 so I can't speak from experience, but I've heard and seen the taurus one's are pretty reliable and well priced for their quality.

  3. I can't believe goo gone didn't work? I've used that on so many graphics and emblems. Did you try a heat gun/hair dryer to activate the remaining resin and "ball it up" with your fingers and remove as much as you can that way. Whatever is left should come off with goo gone or wd40, you can even use a small amt of methyl ethyl ketone from a paint supplier (but wash part after using and apply a layer of wax when finished)

  4. Fuck!!!!!! I hate whe Tressle plays that conservative bullshit! We punted or kicke a fieldgoal every 4th down even on less than a yard or 4th and goal!! We have to go for those especially when inside there 40. Fuck fuck fuck fuck!!!!!

true, that was a big difference maker. Pete carroll let them go for it on 4th down countless times. I was impressed with OSU's defense, if you take away that first TD (because it was from pryors INT and gave USC the ball on the 3) OSU only let their offense score 11 pts. The offense just didn't step up big enough, no points off turnovers, and had amazing field position all night long.

we finally get a coach that beats michigan every year, but loses to every other big team

  5. You obviously didn't read the quoted part of my post, you know, the important part. So I'll selectively repost it for you

I think where you're logic trips up, is that our laws protect only our people. We can make laws and give benefits that exclude illegal immigrants because they aren't protected by our constitution until they become legal.

If our laws only protect "our people" then why are terrorists being mirandized in Afghanistan and Iraq right now by the CIA and our troops?

Why are they being provided legal counsel in gitmo?

But go ahead, trust our government to deny healthcare to illegal immigrants when we don't deny jihadist the same legal rights of a taxpaying U.S. citizen.

Why are illegal aliens allowed to receive in state tuition and welfare assistance in 9 states?

I'm going to refer you to the 14th amendment and the historical ambiguity on what constitutes a resident. Quite often many people come to the U.S. to give birth to their children so that they can receive citizenship (even tho' their parents aren't legal aliens and thus they receive welfare because they have a child or minor who is a resident). Healthcare isn't going to be any different. Many citizens in California have tried to pass legislation to prevent these things from happening and they've been stricken down by the state and federal supreme court. So just because the bill says "it's not for illegal immigrants" doesn't mean that its A.) constitutional, B.) it doesn't provide enough detail to prevent benefits being given to children of non citizens etc...

Our 2010 U.S. Census doesn't even ask if you're here legally, so I'm not sure why the hospital would ask that either when providing healthcare.
