  2. $30 at Walmart ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuCpx0xg8QE This video contains a description of the modification I made to the thrower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8KGgdtDBbo
  3. POWELL, Ohio — The Powder Room, a long-standing shooting range that lost nearly 100 guns in a burglary last year — including one that was later used to kill a Dublin gas-station clerk — could be closing to make way for a condominium complex. Developers presented a sketch plan of the complex last night to the Pow-ell Planning and Zoning Commission. The plan shows condominiums on tree-lined streets and a pond with fountains. The entrance to the complex would go right through where the Powder Room now stands. “I’m one of the first people to object to people objecting to something that was there before they got there,” said Len Pivar, the developer who wants to build the complex. “But times change.” Last night’s meeting was the first in what likely will be a series of meetings about the new complex. Pivar said that even if everything goes perfectly, construction wouldn’t start until next year at the earliest. Owners of the Powder Room did not return calls for comment. Members of the Powell zoning commission seemed receptive to Pivar’s plan. The city of Powell has sent at least three letters to the range since 2008, asking it to stop operating because of various city code violations. The Powder Room owners lease the space from a landowner who, Pivar said, has signed a contract with his development company, Arlington Homes LLC. The Powder Room, at 2470 Powell Rd., was the site of a break-in in February 2012. Burglars smashed through a wall of the gun range, stealing 97 guns. Five days later, one of the guns was used in a robbery that left a Dublin gas-station clerk dead. David Betz, Powell’s director of development, said the condominium plan is a good alternative to the shooting range. “We see this as a good beginning in the positive redevelopment in an area that has been somewhat troublesome in the past,” Betz said. larenschield@dispatch.com @larenschield
  4. Just tested the knock down with a .38sp and it worked perfectly.
  5. Rt 56 from 70 to Neer or Bringer then head west towards New Morefield. From there 55 and then head north to West Liberty areas. Some fun roads over near the castles.
  6. Nice. Looks like you had a bit of everything to shoot with.
  7. So I ended up with today off so I started my attempt to make some IDPA style knock down targets for my range. Yes, I know what it looks like but please, it's my first attempt. They'll look less anti sectarian as I get better.
  8. Sounds like some good practice. I've gotten spoiled shooting steel and reactive targets like in the videos I've done, so I ought to head out back with some paper sometime and see how good I can do. I assume the MKIII at 35 ft doesn't count. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YMF7ODpZIw
  9. Maybe you should consider an SKS? They are not as popular but fire the same round, cost half as much and IMHO are better guns and more accurate than the AK47. Down side, they have 10 round capacity stock and use clips, just so you can piss of your friends by saying, "My clip is empty".
  10. The what? No hable los gun technical terminology. Jeff taught the muzzle tuck and I thought he said " " Okay looked them up. I've done the dummy drill with Lisa where we load a dummy or several into each others mags. As for the 10-10-10 drill I shoot 8 inch home made steel targets at 35ft but not timed.
  11. I shot better than I thought I would and was improving as the day went on. I have a better idea of things I need to work on too.
  12. Did you get the information you wanted? Sorry if I'm a little vague as It was my first real class outside CCW training. I was hoping it was a competition training class to learn the different types. But it quickly became a tactical style class with drawing and target acquisition training.
  13. A class. There were some skills challenges but primary purpose was training.
  14. It was an event set up by Buckeye Firearms Assoc. in Danville at TWTG training center.
  15. Worn out. Did the NE Ohio skills challenge up in Danville. Thanks to Jeff and BFA for a fun day and good food for lunch.
  16. I was testing out the best cheap target for the open range. I think it's a water filled tin can but you be the judge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YMF7ODpZIw
  17. the .308 is a great long distance hunting round but serves little good in a state like ohio. They are expensive which makes them hard to use for target shooting. I guess that's why for target use the 7.62X54 is better to me. Being I have one of each if foreign ammo becomes unobtainable I can switch to the .308 or a 6mm or one of the other post war American variations of the 30-06.
  18. Just get a 7.62X54 M44 and smile because your wallet loves you and the gun fires all the time, every time.
  19. Kind of like looking back at life before AIDS and thinking how blind could we have been.
  20. Bought my first semi auto shotgun today. A Stoeger M3000 12 gage. Only had enough time for 10 test shots this evening but it functioned flawlessly on 2 3/4 federal rounds. A small video of my first shots with it in a little bit hopefully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8KGgdtDBbo
  21. Is that what the area in the corner of the property with the green blinds is for? We heard you guys back there and saw the clays flying all over the place and wondered what type of event that was.
  22. Went to a skeet shooting clinic at Blackwing. Excellent instructor and even got me to the point I did a double from the 7 position.
  23. 10 round limit according to resident and most semi autos are banned except those grandfathered in.
  24. Odd, I could have sworn MIT was a gun free bomb free zone.
