From the Columbus Dispatch, interesting points on both sides. Really shows how both sides have misrepresented the issues. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2011/10/18/issue-2-would-give-management-more-say.html

Still wondering how when the bill was made to apply to police and firemen? Didn't the original bill exclude them? When did that change?
-
One thing has become unclear to me. The original bill was supposed to NOT effect police and fire. When did that change?

+1 What benefit reductions have been made? How many fire fighters have lost jobs vs those taking less pay. Are the big chiefs suffering equal cuts the those with boots on the ground?

It's hard to keep the issue 2 debate clear because of the noise from pro and con groups. They are both trying to make opinion into fact. However, when those opposed to issue 2 put a school teacher on tv saying how their bargaining ability for better education will be removed? I ask, "How has that bargaining ability worked so far in schools?" The desired effect vs effect that has happened seems very different. How are public services improving under the current system? I see no benefit to the status quote.

I tried to look for video samples on you tube but didn't see any clear comparison video for quality. Do you have any video quality comparison videos for the Roam vs HD vs Go Pro?

My big riding days have slowed way down due to unemployment. But there are lots of stories on ADV by locals doing cool trips. There's a couple of us in the Norteast forum under ADV in Ohio. Here's a recent one from a fellow ADV rider and his son: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=723691 And an old one of mine: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265704

I see your point. There's a devil in the details but I think if government employees are going to bite a bullet the politicians who control their pay need to be sharing in the pain. After all the issue 2 advertisement compared government employees to public employees. If we want it fair, then we need to make it fair. After all, despite the appearance, I'm not hateing on hard working government employees, I just think the current system protecting their benefit programs and tenure is unsustainable. The same can be said for our elected officials.

I think just about any helmet cam can be worn without a helmet. Just possition it opposite your aiming side of your head.

The bill we ought to pass. State workers no longer have tenure. Workers are dismissed when they are found to be preforming below standards for the position. Failure to identify these people will result in fines equal to 10% the pay of the managers and politicians in charge of those positions. Pay increases are tied directly to the increases of the superiors in charge of them. So if the governor gets a 10% pay increase, everyone below him should expect a 10% increase. If the governor takes a 5% decrease in benefits everyone else gets the same cut. This way the politicians can't duck the responsibility for the huge budget issues and unions can't bitch if people aren't getting increases in pay. It also makes managers responsible for the quality of workers they employ. Companies should work the same way. If the bosses at the top do well, the workers under them should do well. If a manager keeps a screw up around then he can afford a 10% decrease in pay to help compensate for the added cost to the company.

But you think I went and got two degrees so I could have incompetent care when I show up in the emergency room? How many times does the 80 year old nurse have to stick the needle in my arm to get blood when I have a well defined entry point? Hell, I can take my own blood the scar is obvious enough. No one goes to school, works hard to get a degree and goes into debt to get told you'll never make enough money to afford to retire. But it sure is happening a lot!

Are those side cases designed to keep the fat chicks off the back?

Yes, postal workers are Federal employees. I always laugh when they say the Postal system is the worst run federal program. I thought that was the white house and congress? To me it comes down to the same issue companies with union worker have had to face, promises were made to appease the union that were based on old conditions and now those conditions do not exist. So it is either time to restructure the programs from top to bottom or let them go broke. Even people I know who are for issue 2 admit if they were a government employee they'd fight to keep the benefits too. There dam nice benefits. But they're unsustainable. So unless you think in 20 years you'll still get social security it's time for the wake up to happen and pay $400+ per month for crappy health insurance, invest in a fund you hope doesn't go belly up and wonder how you'll retire at age 70. Tell the unemployed how issue 2 is unfair. And don't worry the politicians, judges and lawyers turn under the heat lamp is coming. Show me one person who is satisfied with our current political situation in the US or Ohio. It may not be revolution but there sure will be some evolution in the government. The old, slow and dishonest will be eaten alive.

But with the threat of issue 2 it seems those groups are "finding" more cuts they are willing to take. Seems to simply prove that the government bureaucracy is bloated and has many cuts they could yet make. Pass issue 2 and then we can go after the top dogs in the government and their pork barrel funds.

But if thousands were saved per city / town in Ohio? How many cities and towns are there in Ohio? Multiply ten thousand by the number of cities and towns in Ohio. NOW your talking some real $$$. It looks like there are over 210 cities and town in Ohio with populations over 6,000 people. If each one save $10,000 in one government program, would be over $2 million. How many departments does each city have? It adds up.

I've seen 3 news reports on how local negotiations have suddenly saved "THOUSANDS" in recent pay and benefits packages for government employes. This might be attributed to the threat of issue 2 passing taking away the employes rights to collective bargaining. At least that seems to be what is inferred from the opponents of issue 2 who hail these negotiations as reasons issue 2 isn't needed. The head of the FOP said he didn't wanna give up his 7000 benefits package but the times required it. I'm guessing he believes he'll get it back when the economy improves or issue 2 fails. So if just the threat of issue 2 means thousands in savings imagine what passing issue 2 would mean!

So it has an internal battery? If so what happens when the battery won't take a charge anymore? Also, how big a card will it work with? 2,4,8,16 or 32 GB?

Well lets see, I had to download the video, then edit and..... Oh you mean the bike? I put rim lock on the rear, front sprocket down one tooth, and bark busters. I think it looks slow because of the wide angle lense. But in one spot you can stop the video and see the speedo at 95 as I am accelerating. I did a really good job balancing that rear tire.
