Well, if the officer would have controled the arm and spun it back to an "arm bar" and dislocated her arm, you would be saying that was excessive force as well. If she would have tasered her, that would have been too much for you too, however she would have been in the right if she did it. If the officer would have gone up and tried to take the knife nicely from her had, then she could have VERY easily been sliced or stabbed and then you are in a completely different situation that has the chance to take a life. The officers actions were very good. Putting the lady to the ground, sometimes easier to "place" them softer than others, is the best way to end the situation and save everyone around. If you see there after the lady is on the ground, a civilian comes up and puts his foot on the kinfe, meaning he saw the threat as well.

Hmmm... Interesting.

Not quite. "5-0 girl" rolled up on scene with her lights on meaning she got a call to go there because of a woman with a knife. She found the woman with a knife so she obviously knew that that was who the call was for. Why are you assuming that she didnt know what "put the knife down," said a few times, means? She was speaking english earlier which tells me she knows english and put the knife down isnt a complicated order. Fairly simple to me. And the first time the officer says it, the old lady points the knife at her. Thats a no go. The officer found the lady to be a hazard and eliminated the risk for everyone around. She didnt find her guilty, she found her doing something illegal which requires an apprehension.

She preserved the safety of everyone around by getting rid of the person with the kinfe.

The closest person was 2 cars away at the time she started talking to the lady. They are back far enough but you forgot, there is the danger to the officer. Which Officer Perception is a key point in what use of force is used. So if the officer sees a risk to him or herself then they get rid of the risk. How long should they have talked her into droping the knife? Also, people were taping it before the cops got there. What caused them to start that camera? She was yelling at people before the cops got there therefore is already showing hostility. By not listening to the officer thats even more defiant. You get whats coming to you, old young of middle aged.

Let me get this right... You want the cop to walk the suspect with a knife over to the back of the parking lot, where people im sure would have followed, to have a chat with her to get her to let the knife go? Thats not quite how it works. You are not a cop as you have stated but you THINK you know better. If you have the mindset with the wrong person, even a 13 y/o as i showed earlier, you will get hurt or killed. So maybe you dont know better like you think you do. I think that I can use the comment that ChickOn2 said. You dont know who I am or what I do/have done. Dont make too many assumptions.

I understand that. It is just a hypothetical situation.

Yes it is an all volunteer force. What would you do if no more cops volunteered to do their job? You would be in a world of disorder and hurt. Not hurt like someone broke up with you, hurt like more and more gunfights in the street, more thugs (real not "e") running around killing people and acting tough. Thank you for the all volunteer force saves many people from dealing with horrible situations people shouldt have to deal with.

No, we have not met. But risking your life for other people is something that a lot of people have never and will never do. Even if the situation is right in front of them. you may have risked small things but until you have risked your life and you see what it takes you will always second guess what the cop is doing. The cop is ensuring the safety of everyone around, not the safety of the suspect. No matter who that may be. Once the threat is gone and the suspect is in custody, now you are in charge of their safety as well. Sorry for the typo... Im sure youve never done that either huh?

You owe many people more than you know. But I wont get into that debate.

Its not a duty weapon at the moment. Just a personal weapon. As for the lube, not over lubing it thats for sure. I got light on lube for many reasons. Its certainly not a .50 cal. ha ha. Ill try no lube next time i shoot it and see what i can do. Thanks for all the help guys.

You cant serve and protect from a coffin either genious. You have never risked anything in your life and thats apparent with your ignorance.
-
No joke, ignorance is bliss i guess. You get to say what you want and do what you wish as long as you dont look at the truth. The truth is that cops get put in worse situations than the general public would ever want to see. Get over yourself and realize that you owe a debt to cops like her.

A cop can get stabbed or shot in 1 second. People are lucky if i give them 15 secs before I react. Especially with a weapon in the picture. It would take me less time with a knife in my hand inside of 15 feet to reach a cop before they get their gun out. You dont take that risk. You deal with the situation before it gets to that point. If a cop tells you to do something then you do it first time no questions asked. A court is where you fight the LEO not the street. If you choose the latter than you deserve what you get.

It wasnt quite as the bloke commenting on the video made it out to be. Judging off of the walk and turn alone i would say the rest of the tests would have gone bad as well. There were 2 points just in that portion which were failure points. As for the taze, he was being uncooperative and pulled/pushed away from the cops. The fact that we have tazers is awesome! It results in less contact with suspect therefor having less risk for both parties. Yes, getting tazed sucks for the 5 sec ride but every cop that is certified on it had been hit by it. Its better to taze someone into submission than put them in an armbar and dislocate their shoulder. Everyone is always quick on telling a cop how to do their job from the comfort of their home. However you dont have that when you are the cop in the situation. You have the knowledge that has face value. A grandma with a knife is the same as a 25 y/o with a knife. It is taken at face value. The 25 y/o may have pulled it out to cut a string from his pants but the 87 y/o may have had a nervous breakdown and then intends to stab the guy in the parking lot. The cops will take it at what they see and then interpret what they have to do. I will almost always have the side of the cop. Everyone will be a critic until the cop needs to help them. Then suddenly the cop is awesome! Thats not quite how the "game" is played.

I have an 07 RR and I LOVE IT!!! Honda FTW for sure!!! I had a Ninja before but my RR is way better. But the Ninja was an 01 so... a bit of a difference.
-
Even if they did put them on, which im sure they wouldnt, they would be allowed to hit someone while they are riding on the bike. At least not at anything over 5-10 MPH.
-
Thats AWESOME!!! Both the shotgun and the Shockwave. I see much more use in the states for the shockwake in riot situations than in the desert though.

Im game for trying to pump mass amount of rounds through it! The feed ramp is also in perfect condition. It feels like the slide itself. But the first 15 rounds are awesome! No complaints. Its starts after like 30 rounds. Really annoying.

My ol' lady has one as her duty weapon. She likes it a lot. Pretty sure im getting one next year!

http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/stories/2009/06/05/06052009waccops1.html So should someone have thought this 13 y/o, since he was just a small innocent 13 y/o walking down the street wasnt a threat? Being a Police Officer myself, i owuld have done the same thing. Not a chance anyone, ANYONE, with a weapon who is not heeding my orders will not be slammed, tazed, sprayed or otherwise dealt with. Rod38um, how long does it take to raise your hand? Split second right? So why should the old lady have to have been pointing the knife at the officer before an action needs to be taken. I got into an altercation with a 115lb female who was unbelievably flexable and strong. Why? Because she had a lot of adrenaline going through her. I didnt know that because it was a simle traffic stop. You never underestimate anyone in any situation. Thats how officers get killed. I agree with Mud, you cant rewind life. You get one choice in a situation like that. The officers choice, if gone the other way, could have got her stabbed and killed if she didnt react the way she did.
