Well after sorting the brakes out last weekend, and beating on the car down the 555 yesterday, my little Miata had it's first auto cross today. Considering what I have invested so far, the car did great. Even with 20 years of age I was able to run right there with similar cars. I haven't really figured out what mods I think would make the biggest difference, because in my mind the thing just doesn't have enough power to pull out of turns. It struggled on some of the hills on the 555 yesterday. When coming out of turns trying to accel, if it is at the bottom of 2nd it just straight sucks. I wish I could afford a V8 swap, or turbo, but I really don't think a turbo would pull down low in the RPMs anyway.

 

So anyway, I'm still having a blast with this car. If anyone has ever considered auto cross you just need to go do it, hands down more fun then 10 seconds or less and standing aroud.

you were looking really great out there. you drove the wheels off that thing..... you obviously are a good driver so the miata will suit you well

turbos are just fine down low if its not a huge beast of a turbo.

that'd be doing it wrong....miatas aren't mean for going fast in a straight...they're all about handling like any true roadster

swaybars, springs and shocks but most importantly tires and wheels.......get yourself some 15x7 and some 225/45/15 Hankook Ventus RS-3 or Toyo Proxes R1r tires FIRST OF ALL

tires are the single thing that will make you fastest in one fell swoop

the Z3 with the 6cyls don't feel underpowered

especially the M motor ones with 240hp (98-00) and 316hp (01-02)

the Z3 is an E36...It has E36 powertrain (engines and transmission)

there are 1.9L 4cyl and 2.8L and 6cyl in 2.5L badged 2 and 3.0L and 3.2L (in the M models) The 98-00 M Coupes and Roadsters have the E36 M3 engine (S52B32) but the 01-02, of which there are 694 made, have the E46 M3 S54B32 with 316hp

....

They have E36 3 series front suspension and E30 3 series rear suspension (outdated design).

The roadster Z3 are a dime a dozen but they also made non-M coupes, exactly 1000 of them so they are extremely rare.....The M Coupes and M roadsters are pretty sweet.

Z4 is a better car for sure..

here's a Z4M for ~16k with 132k miles...... It has the S54 motor with close to 100hp/L...it needs valves checked and adjusted every 50-60k miles but it's really a superb car. Parts are pretty expensive though. On the Z4M, the S54 made the full 333hp because they fixed the rod bearing issues the early S54 had...on the 01-02 Z3Mm the S54 made that 316 because they limited the revs to 7600RPM

I still think a well regulated militia (as prescribed in the bill of rights) is necessary so I do hope you're trolling when posting this about the 2nd amendment.........By the way, gun control falls squarely under the wording of the 2nd ammendment when it says a WELL REGULATED militia and not just a militia run amok without control...I find it rather disturbing that liberals don't see this and this just gives conservatives a reason to fight for our rights harder against them not accepting this provision...but I digress on this matter

my car did get hit once and I had to pay my comprehensive deductible to get it fixed since it was a hit n run with my car parked at a lot...i came back and saw the damage...no cameras, SOL on my part and I was out $250 and 1 month without my ride...but no physical damage to my person obviously since I was not in the vehicle at the time
