    Cool, I'm calling her now.
  2. Seriously, the things people ask him must be common to all mixed or light-skinned black dudes. Fucking hilarious. Some NSFW language. Not trying to start another race thread, btw-- just a funny video with a little insight along for the ride. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxW-XLOm4QU Keeping it fair, this one's also pretty damned funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glOv4MIyNSE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxW-XLOm4QU&feature=related

You sure you don't want one of these? Kickstart only, and you can do this to them: Or this: I can get a definite price for you if you're interested. The bike runs, but needs cosmetic work and possibly a clutch. EDIT: That V65 is teh sexies. Old-school musclebikes FTW! Because brute force possesses an eloquence all it's own.
  4. I thought it was "See the world, meet interesting people, and kill them." Heh-- I don't think the pacifist that coined that saying realized how badass it sounded.
  5. Mine was a 1982 Honda V45 Magna (750). It was bitchin, till the head gasket explodered.

    Infractions

Please. We feed the trolls for sport. Without them, we might have to actually go outside to see stupid people.

    Free Vasectomy

Damn, I wish they'd do that here. ZPG FTW!
  8. I tend to look at Failblog, Very Demotivational, That Will Buff Out, and The Daily What every day while I'm having coffee. Damnable cheezburger network stealing my time n stuff.
  9. I'm pretty sure this is what would happen if I ever had to work in a cubicle farm again. They eat your soul.

    Infractions

I've always been able to say what I feel like on here, and I don't think I've ever been moderated or given an infraction. I curse like a fucking sailor, and I sometimes provoke Todd on purpose, but apparently I never manage to cross this invisible line that some people are upset about. As a bonus, from what I've seen in various discussions, many of the moderators disagree with me politically-- you'd think that if they were going to abuse their power, they'd have done it to me by now. People get that way over politics, so the fact that it hasn't happened probably says something.

Seriously. I'd ride the shit outta this thing:
  12. Maybe I'm just weird, but I thought she looked alright beforehand. That voice would get kinda grating, though.

    badass bobber

    That is fucking nice.
  14. I think the sort of good-natured arguing that goes on here (such as Jrmii v. IP) is generally fine. It's kind of understood that it's mostly in good fun, and people normally don't get their ass up on their shoulders about it. However, there's a difference between that and serious trolling or less-then-friendly personal attacks. The line may be hard to define, but people generally know it when they see it.
  15. I agree. If it doesn't leak when you pull the pin, it'll probably be alright. Looking at it, I'm thinking it probably will leak, but check first.

That's not bad at all. Mom would probably want around $600 for hers, so this CB might be better for you for now. Actually, if I had the cash I'd up-bid on that. Looks pretty nice.

Actually, my mom's got an '81 Suzuki GN400 thumper, kickstart-only, in need of some cosmetic attention. It runs pretty well, also. She'd probably take any reasonable offer-- her new bike is electric start; she hated kicking the other one.

Those little bastards were damned near indestructible, too. Keep some kind of oil in them and they'll pretty much toddle along happily forever.
  19. Yeah, some of the other stuff on his site is even better. If he stays with it, ten years from now he'll be fucking amazing. I got my first kit when I was 6, and I was pretty good; this kid is something else.

    Dumping your bike

Most bikes can stop very quickly, but that ability is limited by the need to keep it upright-- locking and sliding, releasing and re-applying can definitely extend your stopping distance. This is part of why it's so important to have the best tires you can afford.

What I meant is that with anything we have (besides our active project), you'd be looking at a frame-up build, instead of just fixing an otherwise complete bike. You'll probably have a more pleasant start if you watch craigslist for one like we just found: We got a 1981 Yamaha Maxim 650 that a guy had started moving from an untitled whole bike onto a titled frame for $200. Needed carb work, some cosmetic stuff, and a little electrical babysitting- everything else was just unbolt, move, bolt on.
  22. Damn, I wish I had the cash for this right now. I could do something sweet with that thing-- I know how much I love my GS750, and a 1000 would be that much cooler.

Sorry, 'we' in this case refers to myself and my roommate, Hob13-- we're acquiring a fairly large pile of old and/ or dead bikes, either for us to work on or to part out. Sounds like none of what we have would interest you right now, since the only one that is a more or less ready-to-go bike is the one we're currently restoring ourselves

    Dumping your bike

Glad you're okay. That said, it sounds like you need to try and keep a bit more following distance. My rule is to give myself as much room as I think I'd need to stop if the car ahead hit a brick wall, then back off a little more. People are stupid and unpredictable, so you have to give yourself every advantage you can get-- extra space and time to react are big parts of your survival toolkit.
