  1. What kendo gear do you have? How much? They teach Kendo at the dojo I go to for Karate and JuJitsu. I'll ask around if anyone is interested.
  2. No BBB history and cash only? Move along...
  3. Wow - the rescue crew were dragging that guy from the smashed chevy like it was the last call of the shift and they just wanted to go home...
  4. Who is the "person below"? The guy who's fiancee left him, or the guy who went to jail for 2 years?

    Awesome CL ad

The wrinkles in the seat make it look like he did it himself from a pair of his mother's 70's disco pants.
  6. Investigate and report back.
  7. I use traps. Get them for a buck each and bait them with PB. I like the ones with the wide flat plastic trigger not the little brass hook because the wide trigger will get still mice that ignore the bait and just walk past. Place them against the wall so that the end with bait on it is touching the the wall. mice run along walls rather than crossing open floors. If you are going to poison use dcon. Makes them thirsty and the leave the home looking for water before they die. Other poisons kill them in the walls. Shot a couple with a bb gun one time. They were inside the wall but I was able to climb into the attic and see them through a gap in the top plate of the wall. There was no way to get at them otherwise, so I shot them and dealt with the smell for a couple of weeks. One time my wife saw a mouse and wanted to to catch it. I had it cornered in the bathroom and managed to trap it alive (had to be alive, she said) and then took it out to the treeline to release it (had to be released, she said). Got down to the treeline and put the thing in the ground. And the little B@star@rd turned right around and ran like f*ck right back towards the house. I suddenly had visions of the little a$$hole getting back to the house first, locking me out, drinking my beer, smoking my cigars and taking liberties with my wife. Then I figured she would deserve it.
  8. And don't ever stop running. That has "Future Pet Rabbit Stew" written all over it.
  9. Seriously. $50 and 2 hours later and I'm gonna be cutting my grass with it. Also, he showed me his new commercial-grade ZTR mower that cost something like 8k. Then I showed him my Swisher trail mower that cost me $700 and my MTD lawn tractor that cost the same. The swisher has a 48" swath and the MTD is 42". The swisher is towed on an offset tow bar to give me a single wide swath of 86" (2" overlap) He commented that he's seen how wide the cut swath it and then I told him I can cut 2 acres in 45 mins - half the time it takes him on his $8k mower. So he threw away a good mower for the sake of a $50 part, and bought an 8k commercial mower for 2 acres that cuts slower than my $1400 setup. I was thinking of keeping the cub cadet and just using it as a tractor (towing the trailer/driveway groomer/plow/lawn sweeper. Heck, my son is 8 now, old enough to drive a lawn tractor with a sweeper attached. I wouldn't have him mow, but running a sweeper is perfectly safe. He can follow me around as I cut the grass and he can sweep for me.
  10. HAH! The guy told me that the PTO switch (for turning the blades on) didn't work - in fact the old homeowner had rewired it to the headlights so the blades are always on. I buzzed out the circuit, tested the switch, relay and finally figured out that one of the safety cutouts was stopping the switch from working. So rather than figuring out why the safety cutout was tripped the previous owner rewired around it. Turns out that the safety cutout that was tripped is a momentary switch held in place by a metal arm that was bent (paint cracked at the bend) . Bent it back into the right place, wired the PTO clutch up correctly and tested it again - works fine with the PTO switch now.
  11. People get ticketed for "Failure to control" when the say "I swerved to avoid a..." because people lie about it all the time to cover up an accident caused by them stunting. You *should* not get a ticket (and would have a string case to fight it if you did) IF there is evidence that the deer/dog/car/ufo. Deer accident reports will always say if there is evidence of the deer. Hair, blood, corpse, etc. If there is an independent witness then that would work too. The big difference is that your insurance (if you claim on it) will blame *you* for the accident and it will be filed under your collision coverage. With a dog/owner the insurance will have someone to go after and the accident will be filed under your uninsured motorist coverage.
  12. No police report? You could always go back to the scene and canvass the nearby houses looking for the dogs.
  13. Seriously. Luckily the exposed center conductor was far enough from a metal ground that there was no sparking. After pulling the tinder-dry nest material out the pile was as big as a football.
  14. My neighbor just gave me his old lawn tractor. Cub Cadet 2000 (15 years old, 692 hours on the engine) He inherited it from the previous owner of his house. Couple years ago he put it away for the winter and it wouldn't start the next spring. He and his buddy tried to get it running and the best they could figure out was there was no spark. He bought himself a large commercial-grade ZTR mower and left this one in his barn. Yesterday he offered it to me for free if I wanted to try and fix it. Well, we rolled to over to my workshop this afternoon and it took me about 5 minutes to figure out that a mouse had built a nest inside the engine cowl and had eaten clean through the spark plug cable. The cable is molded into the ignition module so I had to order a new ignition module. No other wiring damage and everything else is fine so for $50 I'll have the tractor fixed and ready to use. Gonna run it for a few weeks while I rebuild the carb in my own lawn tractor, then I'll probably sell it. Even if I only get a couple hundred bucks for it it's all free money.
  15. Shit happens to all companies. The good ones step up and fix it. Took my dog to our a groomer and they called me a couple hours later to say there had been a problem. The dog is only 8lbs and the skin between her knee and belly is paper thin so when they used the clippers to trim the hair right there they cut right into the skin. They were real apologetic and told me they would pay for the vet bills. Had to take the dog to an emergency vet - she needed 14 stitches. Cost about $350. Once the stitches were out a couple weeks later and I had the final $ amount from the vet I wrote the groomer a letter and included the bill. Couple days later the groomer called - the guy was beside himself with worry because he had no idea how much it would cost, he was running a family business that couldn't afford to take a big hit and he also didn't know if I was going to be a dick about it and try to sue him for stupid money or trash his reputation around town. I asked if he got my letter yet - he said no, but the mail just arrived. I told him to read the letter and call me back. He read; "Please find enclosed the vet bill we discussed. I wanted to say I appreciate your honesty and candor in quickly reporting this so we could get her treated right away. We all make mistakes and I understand that. If it's ok with you we'd like to still bring our dogs to you for grooming." Then he called me back and simply said; "God bless you."
  16. Cinco de Mayo? More like Drinko de Mayo...
  17. It's more a question of why does one officer believe a "phantom car " story with no witnesses and no vehicle description, whereas another does NOT believe a "phantom car" story that DOES have witnesses. Agreed, at the end of the day it's the officer's judgement, but it does show how different opinions can be. Getting the right officer apparently makes all the difference in whether you get blamed or not. There was a similar "judgement call" a few months back where there were to identical accidents - car turned left into the path of an oncoming car when the light went amber to red, but the oncoming car admitted to running the red light. In both accidents the red light running was ticketed - but in one of them the left turner was also ticketed because the oncoming car was "close enough to constitute an immediate hazard" (the wording of the left-tun-yield law). One cop thought the left turner was innocent, another thought the left turner should have seen that the oncoming car was running their red light.
  18. I would consult a lawyer before treating it as your own bike without getting the title in your name first. The lawyer might advise getting something in writing from the guy's kids that say they give you permission to sell the parts, and never will. That way they don't come back later with a title in their own name and demand the bike back. Another option would be to offer the owner's kids $100 to get the bike titled in their name (via inheritance) then signed over to you.
  19. I know that if you lose control of your car and wreck - and tell the police you were swerving to avoid someone who then fled the scene - then you will generally get a "Failure to control" ticket. The "phantom car" is a common story, is usually bogus, and the police know it. Same with "swerved to avoid a deer". Unless there is contact then they assume you're BS'ing them. So I'm confused by these two accident reports: http://www.dublin.oh.us/police/reports/files/apr2012/12-1300.pdf Car on 270 in Dublin swerves to avoid a semi truck that makes an illegal lane change, loses control without making contact with the semi, which failed to stop. Story backed up by a witness. Ruled to be at-fault, charged with failure to control, semi is not listed as an involved vehicle, not a hit-skip. http://www.dublin.oh.us/police/reports/files/apr2012/12-1409.pdf Car on 270 in Dublin swerves to avoid a car making an illegal lane change, loses control without making contact with the other car, which failed to stop. No witnesses, no vehicle description other than "Black car". Ruled not-at-fault, no ticket, a car described only as "Black" is listed at the at-fault vehicle and the accident is ruled a hit-skip. Both of these accident reports were reviewed and approved by the same seargent. Are there any lawyers, police or insurance adjusters who can explain why a "phantom car" story with no witnesses was ruled a hit-skip, while a "phantom semi" story that has a witness was ruled the car's fault?
  20. Try this: From: http://www.ci.wilmington.oh.us/policerecords.cfm
  21. If he has loud pipes on the bike then just put a legal exhaust on the bike and go about your business. Don't stop riding, but don't keep waking him up either. He knows where the guy lives, just go talk to him. No sense in having such a bad relationship with someone who lives so close.
  22. http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/crime/troopers-clock-motorcycle-doing-166-mph?hpt=ju_bn4 50 miles in 20 minutes? That's an *average* of 150mph!
