  1. Scala teamset speakers, ear plugs. "Boostaroo" headphone amplifier from radio in tank bag to the aux-in on the teamset. Normal riding - radio Two-up - intercom Phone calls break through the radio or intercom
  2. Dang it. And I was just going to tell him that if the bullet won't fit inthe shell because there's too much powder that he should heat up the shell with an oxy torch to make the power settle down.
  3. That's why it's a subforum. Stay out of the gun subforum if you don't want to read about guns.
  4. Don't forget to hammer the bullet into the shell if it won't go all the way in.

    Wtf ups

We shipped a laptop one time and it arrived broken. Fedex claimed we used insufficient packaging, despite the laptop being shipped in the original dell box and foam packaging. They finally paid for it but it took 6 weeks and a visit from a fedex adjuster. Meanwhile we had already had to buy another laptop because it was for a new employee that we couldn't have just sitting idle for weeks. And they even depreciated the laptop when they paid out (was brand new from dell, shipped to me to have apps installed then sent on the same day to the user. Because I installed apps on it they said it was now "used" and knocked off 25%. I let our cfo fight that one )
  6. I don' tget where you're going with the ABS thing. Or with anything. I'll try again, and I'll type slowly so you can keep up... - If you drive a massive offroad truck because you actually go offroad in it, then you're fine. - If you drive a big diesel dually because you regularly tow or haul stuff then you're fine - If you drive a massive offroad truck, or a big diesel dually, and you never go offroad and you never tow or haul stuff, and you only have the vehicle for its image, then you obviously have some self esteem issues that you feel must be addressed by making other road users think you're bigger and badder than you are. Hence, penormobile. This effect is made even worse by aftermarket modifications that make it more offroady, but you never drive it offroad. They are no better than people who buy an ex-police Crown Victoria and then make it look like a cop car again by reactivating the wig-wags and spotlight, adding a CB do they can hook the mic cord over the mirror, hanging a set of cuffs from the mirror and putting "auxilliary brake lights" in the rear window that looks like blue lights. It's all about trying to make people respect you for all the wrong reasons. - You wanna drive a cop car, then become a cop. - You wanna drive a tow rig? Tow stuff. - You wanna dive a jacked-up offroad rig? Drive offroad. - You wanna drive a drag bike with a stretched swingarm? Take it to the strip. We use the term "ricers" to describe people who take imports and make them LOOK fast (or try to) without making them GO fast, and we complain about how it's all about image. We complain about soccer moms driving Ford Excursions to the elementary school and back. Same applies. Did I make it simple enough for you, or do you need a picture?
  7. I don't buy US vehicles these days. All but one has been unreliable. I've never had a bad Nissan or Subaru. The Bronco is the exception - it's pretty tough but it was a heap when I bought it. (Pain 1900 for it 2 years old - had LOTS of problems. Offroaded it for a few years until bailing wire couldn't hold it together any more and then started the frame-up resto.
  8. Agreed for the most part - but you can buy any brand camera or DVR on the internet so how do we know what the 'shitty' ones are? I have an EH5216+ hybrid as my main DVR, and a CPCam 507HC as a backup. The CPCam is definitely SoHo but the Aver is a nice unit as far as I'm concerned Plus the most reliable DVR I ever had is now about 9 years old - it's no-name piece of junk that just won't quit. The manual's only clue as to the manufacturer is "All about image recognition and processing"
  9. Cheap system with unusable images, about $500. DVRs come in 4, 8 and 16 channel flavors. Best "cheap" DVRs IMHO are the AverDigi DVRs. I have the Aver EH5216+ DVR which cost $1600. The 8-channel model is abotu $900. The wiring can be assumed to be about $20 per camera going household distances if you crimp your own connectors and buy wire in bulk (rg59 ain500' increments) and connectors by the dozen (BNC crimps on ebay can wind up being just $1 each if you buy enough) You can get entry-level IR vandal domes for about $100. Anything cheaper is goign to give bad results. Conventional wisdom was to avoid CMOS sensor cameras and with CCD instead, but CMOS has come a long way since then. Camera placement is key. Don't let it see the sun (direct, or reflected (pool/shiny roof)). Don't mount your cameras so they look *down* on people. Mount them at eye level. Understand that a camera that can see your whole garden will NOT identify a person. And a camera close enough to identify a person will not see much else. People will tell you you get what you pay for but understand that CCTV was always a busniess with almost exclusively commercial customers until the last 5 year - who coudl pay more moeny for systems. Consequently there are a lot of VERY expensive systems out there. Finally, check the DVR specs - you want 10 frames per second per camera for 'pretty smooth' recording. Any higher than 15 fps is not really needed. A lot of cheaper systems will quote "FPS" but mean fields per second instead of frames per second. An NTSC frame is made up of two interleaved frames. a 4-channel "60fps" dvr is likely to mean 60 fields per second total (shared across 4 channels), which is 30 frames per second total, which is 7.5 per channel - pretty stuttery.
  10. You've used a 2011 Avalanche for the past two years? When did they release the 2011? I know they tend to release the new model year halfway through the previous year, but I've not heard of them over a year early.
  11. If anyone needs camera advice hit me up. Or we can create a cctv thread.
  12. Are you sure someone was inside the house? Anything disturbed? My neighbor has this one door that sometimes wouldn't latch and a strong breeze would open it. A couple of years ago my CCTV caught footage of someone who (I believe) was about to break in to the house. Ignore the front door and went down toward the side of the house where the workshop is - then looked up at the camera and left quickly.
  13. My Bronco is a dedicated offroad truck that is street legal so I can use it for hauling. Unlike these folks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P25e-rS4N8U
  14. Hold still, just getting my sight picture...
  15. If you're gonna USE IT then fine. If that thing never sees dirt then it's a penormobile. I have a lifted '87 Bronco with 33" mudders/gears/lockers etc but I actually take the thing offroading. It's not a daily driver.
  16. There are coyotes in our area and we have two small dogs that would be a nummie treat for a coyote. I will look after my dogs.
  17. Good luck hunting deer with a 22LR. I'm not envisaging the end-of-the-world situation. I'm more worried about a Katrina-style thing where we just need to look after ourselves without the police for a few weeks.
  18. Good grief. Might as well just spraypaint; "I have a small penor" all down the side. What does the handwriting above the white sticker in the windshield say? Either "Buick" or "F*ck"
  19. What kind of issue on a 2011 is unfixable?
  20. Here's the reason... http://www.tmz.com/2012/01/09/elin-nordegren-house-palm-beach/#.TwrK9KVPt8E House was 90 years old, didn't meet code for hurricanes and was infested with termites.
