I have an extra set of pegs attached to the engine guards of my Volusia. I switch between the regular footpegs and the forward-mounted footpegs on long freeway trips to combat cramp/fatigue etc. (just like changing your seating position to combat numb-bum syndrome) I only use those pegs when I'm alone on a straight freeway. Never when there are cars around, or in corners or any other time when I could need the foot controls. I have never used them on my commute.

Agreed. A 3/4 or full face should prevent a forehead abrasion (assuming it was strapped on properly). A Piss Pot probably wouldn't stop that, though, and that's something to think about...

Cruisers? Must have been popping wheelies, doing stoppies and dragging knees around tight corners. Seriously, whatever happened I hope they recover and learn from it.

ATGATT I'm going to see if I can get some textile overpants to match my jacket. The leather overpants I wear make it difficult to swing my leg over the seat...

Sitting here at work waiting for 4pm. My last day at this company is tomorrow and I've got everythign squared away already. New company Monday morning - gonna cage it for a couple of days until I figure out how much gear they need me to haul back and forth. Plus, helmet hair is not a good first impression. :-/

He has his eyes on a little 2-stroke 50cc dirt bike. He has to learn to ride a bicycle first! He's never shown an interest in riding a bicycle, so trying teach him didn't work. So maybe explaining to him that riding a bicycle is a prerequisite to riding a dirt bike, then maybe he'd be more motivated to learn...

I'm hopeful about the insurance. My company provdes excellent insurance and the frist $10k in bills that have come this way so far have been paid 100%. Just have to wait to make sure ALL the bills that come in get paid 100% before I buy the bike. Countdown to April 15th...

I know he's only 7 now, but the longer I can spend good quality time together doing something we both love, the better I think our relationship will be. I'm trying to set the groundwork for his teen years...

I've ridden about 5 times this season so far. Looks good for the next week or so.

Today was Edan's first day getting picked up from school on the motorbike (He is 7). All the kids saw him ride off on the back of my bike... As we headed out the door towards the parking lot I heard 3 "That's COOL!" and at least one "No fair!!".

Difficult to argue with that.

If Ohio Motorcycle would match the 7299 price then I wouldn't think twice. heck, they'd just have to get close enough to make it not worth my trip. It's $27 in gas for the round-trip in my wife's car and it would be $5 in gas on the return trip me on the bike. It would be 4 hours driving. If that $800 price difference held up then it would be like my wife and I *both* getting paid $96/hr to drive for those 4 hours. That's more than I get paid at work. ;-) OM would have to come down to $7500 at most to make it not worth the trip. I'll discuss with them. I used their parts and service department before and I have nothing but excellent things to say. But 10% discount on an $8k bike is tough to pass up for 4 hours of driving.

Honda East are advertising new DL650 ABS V-Stroms fro 7299. Ohio Motorcycle in Hilliard are advertising the same bike at 8099. Trying to figure out if it is worth the 100 mile trip to Maumee to save $800. Anyone have experiences with the sales dept at either location?

Can't really comment on if there are any lessons to be learned here without knowing what happened, but I will say I hope he recovers.

I can see if being a problem for paid parking, but at Chase on Polaris the bikes would tend to secure the spaces at the end of a row and you could put 3 or 4 bikes in there at an angle. It makes no sense to stop bikes from doing that - it benefits all and hurts nobody. Writing that ticket would take a cop who had just got home last night and found his mother, wife and daughter all enthusiastically "entertaining" the patrons of the nearest biker bar. I would not park on the sidewalk. To park on the sidewalk you have to have ridden on the sidewalk, which is definitely not legal.

Thanks, but I'm going to have to wait until next month. Just had some big medical expenses ($20k) and I need to see how my health insurance handles it. If they cover 100% as I hope then I'll be back on the bike hunt in 30 days. If not, then I'll be back to square one saving for the bike. :-(

Is that the store at Cheshire and Africa? I drive/ride past there twice every day. Never been in. If I see a bike outside I might pop in.

I was on hyatts at the railroad crossing at about that time and a deputy came past us with his lights going. By the time I started to drop down towards 315 the deputy was disapppearing over the hill towards 23. When I got to 23 the deputy was there, lights off driving normally. Likely called to something and then told to stand down. Two men arrested. The cruisers were probably there to secure/search for the tossed evidence.

Looks like it is (or was) a perimeter they set up to catch someone who fled from a traffic stop.
